49th Winter 512AV
Late afternoon
Firetongue family pavilion
"Always wear your scarf outside when it's cold." her mother had told her. "Don't run around without a jacket. Don't run around with wet hair." Kai had always thought her mother's warnings were merely ill willed attempts at restricting her freedom. She wasn't a sickly child, far from it. But a wild soul and it was only after she had come down with a fever that she truly understood the magnitude of her mother's words. They never shared the same relationship she had with her father and perhaps they never will again.
She was the gen of her family. Will they cry when she's gone?
Kai's health had progressively been getting worse and worse until she had come down with the pox which ran rampage within Endrykas. First her friends had surrendered to it and not she. And no prayer to Rak'keli will bring her back. Her cold, lifeless body now lay, covered by blankets as if her family had not yet given up hope, despite the life having been stolen from the girl. She was barely 14. A slender girl who's once rosy cheeks have now turned a ghastly grey. An empty shell of what once was a child of life and light, now lay dead and lifeless.
