Cassiel ![]() Race: Human Gender: Female Date of Birth: 5th day of Spring, 492 AV Age: 20 years Place of Birth: Zelvita Languages Common - Fluent Vani - Basic Appearance Cassiel has an overall approachable appearance; she is average height (about 5”5”) with a warm smile and pretty face. Her hair falls down to just below her shoulder blades in fiery red waves. Her skin is pale and flushes easily and her eyes a vivid green. Her body appears frail and delicate, verging on too thin. She has a nasty looking scar on her stomach and a more faded one just below her shoulders. She usually wears brightly coloured clothing – blues, greens and purples mostly and black boots. She covers herself in a black hooded cloak; however she goes without if she can. She wears little jewellery, only a small black glass bead on a silver chain around her neck. She rides on a large dark bay stallion. ![]() Character Concept Cassiel is outgoing, extroverted and friendly. She is always eager to meet new people. She loves to find out about peoples’ lives – where they’ve been, what they’ve seen and done. She is very talkative and flirtatious. She’s confident and has little to no shame, and no concept of boundaries or personal space. Despite her best efforts to appear otherwise, Cassiel is extremely naïve. That is not to say she isn’t clever, but she has big dreams and an idealistic notion of Mizahar and the people who inhabit it. However, she is eternally curious and eager to learn about the workings of Mizahar and the dangerous creatures that hide in the dark. Cassiel has a lewd and very sarcastic sense of humour, which she brings out whenever a situation becomes too serious for her. Cassiel despises serious conversations and even more so speaking about her emotions. She keeps everything bottled up, desperate to make herself out to be less vulnerable. Likes: Reading, learning, talking and drinking with friends, hunting, writing, singing. Dislikes: Her family, water, magic, confrontation, silence. ![]() History Cassiel’s history is largely uneventful and while it helped shape her personality as a whole, it is mostly just the terribly boring and incredibly short story of a naïve child who was sick of her family. Cassiel had a good childhood, all things considered. She was the middle child in a family of three, with an older brother and younger sister. Her mother had drowned when she was four, leaving her father to bring them up. Rachel, her younger sister, had only been six months old at the time. Her father didn’t take to the new job very well and they were essentially raised by Cavan, their brother. Despite this, Cas was happy. Things only improved as their father got through his depression and started working at the docks building ships. However, it got worse when he tried to become more involved in his children’s lives. It wasn’t too bad at first, but when Cavan moved out he became bitter and abusive. Cas kept in touch with Cavan through letters, but of course it wasn’t the same. Cassiel managed to shelter Rachel from him most of the time, for which Rachel was always grateful. Cassiel had always hoped to leave and take Rachel with her, to go to Avanthal. She’d read all about the beautiful icy city and longed to go there. She’d even learned Vani in an effort to prove she was serious. Rachel always refused whenever Cas had proposed they run away. Rachel always had been the more practical of the two. Then their father had to travel to Syliras to meet an old friend and was too paranoid to leave his daughters behind and that’s when Cas gave up on Rachel and left. She galloped away in the dead of night while her family slept on their way back to Zelvita. She rode for the whole night until she reached Syliras once again and disappeared into the city. She was only there for a couple hours when a stranger gave her a hastily written letter from her sister, which essentially told her that her dad was a jackass and was leaving without trying to track her down and that she would miss her. When Cassiel had finished reading the letter she scoffed, not surprised at her father’s reaction. She decided to stay in Syliras for a while and get the hang of being on her own before setting off for Avanthal.
