(Flashback) Seals of the mind

A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

A ledge jutting from a steep rock face was the only entry into this part of the cavern, securing it from non-Symenestra. Outsiders were not welcome here unless one was in a evil mood and marooned them there, but even those outsiders were vexing to Symenestran visitors.

There was little to no light, yet to a Symenestra it was lucid as day. The details were clear to them: ridges of rock, deep incandescent pools of blue water and the marbled hues of the stone. The blue was so pale, one could see the very bottom, its sandy texture and rocky terrain frozen in time.

Stalactites drooped from the roof of the cavern, slowly dripping water into the pools beneath. Some stalactites were white, some black, and others varying colors of between the two. The room softly held the sounds and echos of each drop.
Stalagmites jutted from the floor, some forever beneath the water. Their muted colors mirroring the stalactites' tones.

The grotto was a place of peace, a place of solitude, where the warm lapping water eased the weary body and shushed the rapid mind.

Young Voreasos was once again alone, away from his kind in the room that he spent most of his time it seemed. His Mother wanted him to be here before his birthday to learn one thing. To clear and focus his thoughts and energy. He really did not understand this but agreed so he fed once more and came here before the rest of the Nest woke with life.

He really had no idea what he had to do nor did anyone tell him. Just that it was personal for everyone and books nor teachers could not tell you how to do it. It was like finding your inner bless yet he did not know what that even meant deep down.

So he just stayed there, on an rock with his feet in the cool waters letting his mind drift and wander. He was always dreaming of this and that so he knew he was not to focus on things yet there was so many things he wanted to do in life why should he limit himself he thought. Yet he could understand a bit on why they wanted him to learn Meditation but he still felt lost on how.

Little feet splashing about in the water, the sounds of them hitting the surface of the water along with the sounds of small waves splashing about filling the area bouncing off the walls yet even before long he just stopped letting the water once more be at peace.

He had to get this down before his birthday which was just a few days away it seemed. He knew his Mother had a good reason to do this and he had to try his best to do it for her but most of all for himself.

His mind jumping from thought to thought as he laid on his back watching the roof of the area. He was still alone, few really did enter here so it was not a big surprise to him. You only came here when you wanted to be alone with your thoughts and it seemed he was here more often then not.

"Who am I?" He asked idly as his mind thought of the question. His body breathing in and out slowly and slowly as he stared upwards. He knew what he was but who was he other then Voreasos Alisier from the Alisier Web. Yet it felt like that did not give the right answer.

He did not know what was going on really in his mind nor with the world around him or for that matter even in Kalinor. He felt tiny with the idea of not knowing enough and not doing enough, would he just fade from history without even a footnote or for anyone to remember him?

That thought sadden him more then just a little as he thought about it. He was nothing and in that sheer understanding he learn something. One can be anything even nothing if they wanted it and if they did not then they were just a empty book waiting for the words to be written inside by deeds good or ill.

Season of Spring Day 2, 492

"You know you seem rather lost on how to do it the right way but then again you are still young. My little Vor you will learn in time why it is needed to clear your mind but you are not the type to sit around and think to hard so I will give a little and teach you something now that you will learn to use a lot. It is called Reimancy, a personal magic that will aid you in any task you do be it combat or otherwise. It will take awhile that is the reason you ate before I started this speech as it will be hard at first both on your body and mind but I know you will live as you have the will to live."

Vor did not understand a whole lot yet he just stood there as his mother cut the palms of his hands with her claws and made him sit on the ground. If she said he would be fine then he would be for she was always right on things yet he had no idea what was to come. A light red gas came out of her hands and mouth as it warped around young vor, it was a thin gas cloud yet he did not have time to really look hard at it as he was shoved in his hands, his own mouth and nose.

At first he felt fine but then just a handful of seconds a loud yelling sound came from his body as he trashed along the ground. The gas felt like someone else was pushing in his skin, yet the pain he could not even begin to understand as every cell on his body and insides felt like a mix of being on fire and being ripped apart at the same time. He just wanted it to stop as he yelled out wordlessly in pain, his body moving around on the ground like a twitching bug about to die. Walls of earth rose around him stopping him from rolling in the water and around him to shut out the screams from the outside world. He was in his own trapped hell now.

Hours later....

Time meant nothing to the young Symensetra as he laid there, he felt dead inside yet he knew he was still alive for the ground felt cold and his throat sore from the screams and pleas of pain. The gas was taken out yet he still felt different, felt like he was raped on every level there was for something was taken away without his say and that something he was unsure about still.

The ground around him flat as his mother just stood there, her eyes so empty of love and life as she watched the young child suffer. "You have done well not to die or go insane however now you will need to stand and learn more. I am giving you a gift that can and will save your life one day if you can learn how to use it and not let it use you and kill you or worse. There are far more dangerous things in life then death and you must understand that."

Her voice was not cold yet it was not a tone a mother would use on a child that was in pain. It was more of a strict teacher wanting the best out of the student. The student that could raise above all others if given the right lessons and time.

Slowly even with every bone in his body in pain Vor moved standing on his own two feet. His stomach felt more sick then anything as he still felt different yet unsure what that meant. He stood there watching his mother, his mind slowly turning the image of his sweet loving mother into a faceless teacher that would help him. It was easier that way if he had no personnel feelings to it.

"What is this feeling..."

"That is the feeling of Res, you can now bend and twist it and learn the power of Reimancy. The elements are now yours to wield and one day if you do not die or go insane they will bow before you. At this time you can only use one at a time and your Res is very limited."

"How limited is it?"

"Think of it this way, every time you use Res you throw away a part of you. As of now only think to use it one or two times a day but there will be a time you will be able to use it more. If you have to use it more then two times then understand that there will be risks to it such as Overgiving which can be different things from having a hard time using spells to death. In your life time you will suffer from it but try not to over do it."

"I think I understand..."

"Good, now I will show you how to do what you need to do and let you get a feel for it. You have just two more days before your birthday and I want you to have a good understanding that this is not a new toy you can use whenever you want."

"All right. I Understand....I am ready."

"Your first element will be fire. Throw away your ideas of fire being tamed and used to warm our foods and keep us safe. Fire is nothing but a unstable force that turns everything in its path to ashes. Fire will move quicker then you can keep up and kill you the second you think you can make it bow before you. Never treat any of the elements like a toy and be careful."

"I understand....What should I do?"

"No. You do not understand but in time you will. You will make mistakes and you will suffer from your own hands maybe not today but one day you will not think and try to do something without thought. You will then understand."

The words brought no joy or love. Maybe it was the fact that they were so cold that it brought the point to his head. He had no idea what he was getting into but he knew he could not back out. He should not say he understood when he never dealt with something before. It was telling a person you were sorry that someone died when you did not know the person. Just a empty voice and fruitless words.

"You will be slow to produce your Res, you can only use one element at a time right now and your control is limited. You have a couple of arm's lengths to play with the Res but you can throw it a lot father. Make sure you are done before it leaves your area of control or you will have wasted a weapon that will take time to get back."

For once Vor did not say a word, he just kept his mouth shut and listened. There was no more time for a stupid brat who knew nothing of the world. He knew nothing of this subject and knew now he had to learn it and time was running out it seemed. A deadline was given and he had to get things right the first time. Two uses per day and just two days meant he would use all the elements before his birthday. If given the choice he would rather have more time but it was not his choice and maybe that was why he was growing up slightly.

"You have to focus on your inner Djed and move it to the palm of your hand, pushing it out of the skin. It will be a gas of sorts but this is the first step to use any of the elements."

Vor just let his right hand raise to chest level, his palm facing towards outward as his long fingers curled almost like holding a ball. His eyes closed as he thought of his Djed, pushing it slowly towards his arm, then to his hand before seeping out of his hand in a gas, like smoke pushing out of a window.
