Appearance: Terence is tall, for an Inarta. Having reached what's considered the "maximum" height for his race, six feet, he figures he can only get shorter - hopefully, when he's much, much older. Since Terence has lived on the road for much of his recent life, he's very lean, as well, and has built up a good amount of muscle from sheer necessity, due to the rigors of living off of the land, and not with civilized people. His hair's an oddity, as well, since as an Inarta, his hair was expected to be a violent shade of red. Rather, it's black, though if examined closely, deep streaks of dark red can be seen.
Character ConceptTerence has a strict sense of justice, believing that all should be treated fairly, regardless of caste, socioeconomic level, and et cetera. This strongly manifested itself when Terence left the people of Inarta to go wandering Mizahar, due to his belief that his mother, and to a certain point, and himself were treated unfairly by the higher castes simply due to where - in Terence's case - he was born. Since the Inarta are a meritocracy, however, Terence's beliefs in this area are somewhat unfounded.
As for general likes and dislikes, Terence enjoys the outdoors, and a certain degree of solitude. He gets uncomfortable in large crowds, and lacks a certain degree of social skills, due to his time spent alone in the wilderness.
Terence seeks to find some place where he can "belong." Whether that be in a group, a city, or even in a cave somewhere out in the farthest reaches of Mizahar, he believes that when he finds the perfect place for him, he will finally be content. He's not averse to settling down and getting married, but with his current lifestyle as a wanderer, he doesn't believe that he's quite ready for that. His dream job, if he ever did settle down in a city, would be as a bowyer or a fletcher, a skill he learned in Wind Reach and still maintains, making arrows to restock his quiver and constructing crude bows in his free time.
Character HistoryBorn to a drudge in the Wind Reaches, Terence never knew his father. According to his mother, Terence's father was one of the highest caste, one of the Endal. She might have been lying, might not have been. What Terence did know, however, was that his grandfather had been an Endal. A great one, or else he wouldn't have had that beautiful yew shortbow that Terence's mother kept hanging above the fireplace mantle in their tiny cottage.
Terence's mother managed to eke out a living for the two of them, constantly working her fingers to the bone to keep both her and her child alive, each night coming home a little bit sicker, a little more bent. Before Terence's very eyes, his mother was becoming a weathered old crone. Something that he could not abide. For to him, his mother was the most beautiful creature on Mizahar. He didn't understand how she could be so poorly treated by the Inarta.
What Terence didn't know, of course, was that his mother had sealed her own fate years ago. By being lazy, and not showing any aptitude for a skill or a craft, she had doomed herself to the life of a drudge. And now she paid for it, every day.
Years passed, and Terence became the apprentice to a blacksmith in the Reach, showing a certain aptitude for the crafting of iron tools. He managed this for a few years, until he was seventeen. But then, his mother died. Overworked, tired, and bent double with pain, his Terence's mother had finally succumbed to her ills, and Terence was alone in the world.
Outraged at the lack of sympathy from the community, Terence vowed to leave the Inarta behind. And possessing the few survival skills he knew, he took his grandfather's shortbow - kept oiled and well-maintained by Terence in his free time -, fletching supplies, and various other supplies, and set out on his own.
Terence has travelled around Mizahar for six years now, and has accrued a small amount of earthly possessions. A horse, camping materials, a hunting knife - enough to live by, and to make enough Mizas, Kina, whatever, to keep him alive during dire straits.
