Shona Appearance Race: Inarta Caste: Chiet Gender: Female Age: 17 Birthday: Day 19, Spring, 495 Birthplace: Wind Reach Appearance: Fiery orange hair cascades in easy waves around Shona's thin shoulders. Woven through with feathers shed by small falconing birds and glass beads mostly in variations of blue or green, it catches the light in much the same way as the decorations on her Vinati. Thin braids are scattered, both wrapped and unwrapped through the full volume of her burnished locks. Framed in the wealth of her hair, Shona's face seems brightened. Her features are long and straight, with a thin nose and high cheekbones, stretched by pale skin. Freckles only touch her features in the summer, and disappear entirely in the months of winter. Her eyes, somewhat large for her delicate face, are just a slightly darker azure than the sky, and fringed by thickly curling lashes. Standing at five feet and four inches, with a slim frame, Shona still holds some of the appearance of the child she was not too long ago. She has breasts, but they are not terribly large, and her hips are still quite slim. Shona has grown taller, but only a little curvier since she left her place among the Yasi. She wears a pair of flowing Bryda in plain brown, and a Vinati of similar color decorated around the edges by blue and green beads. Shona has always preferred a pair of worn ankle-boots over a pair of sandals, to protect her ankles from the rocks of her home. Character Concept Personality: Shona is, by nature, a social creature. She constructs what little free time she gets around being able to chat and sometimes share meals with her friends. Spending time with the people that Shona knows and enjoys gives her the energy to get through her day, and she is always eager to reach out and make even more friends. Cheerful and pleasant, Shona has not been known to feel much hatred. She finds joy in caring for the Yasi every day, and because her work seems more like play to her she ends most days thrilled rather than stressed. This is not to say that Shona would not change her lot if she had the chance. Every night, Shona dreams of soaring through the air on the broad, feathery back of her own Wind Eagle. She craves the deep bond between Endal and Wind Eagle, and the heart-throbbing freedom of flight. Personal freedom is just as important to Shona as loyalty and companionship. She enjoys kicking up her heels, laughing, having a good time whenever she gets the chance. It is important to Shona that everyone get a chance to enjoy their life. Holding herself to high standards of loyalty, compassion, reliability, strength of will, Shona focuses deeply on her reputation. Others' opinions of her can either boost her or tear her down in a heartbeat. She can be volatile when it comes to strikes against her pride, lashing out at people who threaten her surprisingly fragile self-confidence. Distractions and social contact are as much Shona's distractions from any self-doubt she may be experiencing as they are a boost to her energy and mood. Ethics: Shona believes deeply in the philosophy of “strength in numbers.” Everyone should help everyone they can, for the good of the collective. Every individual in every station must pull the weight they have been assigned in order to keep the whole of the Inarta thriving, regardless of whether or not they appreciate the station into which they have fallen. Likes: Shona adores high places. She likes to watch the weather change – storms and sun and snow, it does not matter to her, she simply enjoys the feeling of the change in the air. She loves birds and children, and splits her time willing between caring for both. Music has always been a part of Shona's life. Singing and dancing and instruments are simply a part of her soul. She also has a special affection for the color blue. Dislikes: There is nothing in the world that Shona hates more than being alone. Feeling separate or disliked quickly undermines her emotional strength, especially if the treatment is coming from someone she loves. Shona doesn't like sleep much, either. Housing Location: Wind Reach House: Shona occupies a sparsely decorated cave. She is rarely found there, except when she retreats to sleep, preferring to spend her time out and about. As such, she has never seen much reason to decorate the rocky walls.
