Known as the Celestial Seat, Nyka is a religious city in Northern Sylira. Ruled by four demigods and traversed by a large crevice, the monk-city is both mystical and dangerous. [Lore]

Spring 52 513AV It was early in the morning. The dew had finally set in on the city of Nyka, giving it a nice fresh smell outside of its usual musk. Of course, this is how Chase interpreted it, to others it was just another ordinary day. But to this young kelvic it was a chance of making a new life for himself. He had heard rumors of a new smithy opening twenty some odd days ago. This was as good as time as any of finding a permanent job. And with that maybe he could afford the license of living here.
Chase found his way to the new smithy relatively easily, although he did take a few wrong turns and ended up at a few dead ends. Luckily he had been in town long enough to know his way back and around the backstreets and how to get onto the main road.
With that said, Chase found himself in front of the Burning Barge. It was a pretty nice shop, however a bit empty. Chase wondered to himself if this place was really open for business. "Hello?" the boy called out tentatively, looking into the building. "Um... is anyone here? I-I was wondering if I could apply for a... job?"
His voice echoed off the walls of the building, again Chase found himself wondering if this place was actually open.
As Chase waited, shifting himself at the side of the building wall, he began reminiscing at his time here. He had never worked a day in his life, aside from a few odd jobs he had found here in Nyka. Still, those couldn't be considered real jobs just a few odd end things that had to be done around town. Nice enough for the people who sent him on these little expeditions to pay though. |

Jaios had not even started the days smithing orders he had set for himself. It was not a large order list in his head, 15 daggers, 5 chakrams, 5 swords and 1 hoe. 26 items meant it was going to be a busy day but ever since he took the shop it felt like he had no free time. He was putting everything he had into the shop as he had not even come close to making a name for himself.
He was just about to start until he heard a voice inside the main shop. He had yet to hire a shop keep so he just shook his head and made his way out into the main shop. He stood and looked like any normal Isur, 5 foot rather wide Isur in terms of muscle but he still was weaker since he was still rather young. His left arm was a forest green shade with his body being a lighter shade of what looked like marble blue white with light blue veins along his body. His black hair was pulled back into a ponytail as green eyes stood out along his face yet with his brony ridge along his forward his eyes gave him a cold look.
“What can I get you? You said something about a job? Well that depends. Can you smith? Run a shop? Get a discount in items from the right people?”
Jaios asked as he got to the point of the matter. His arms folded along his bare chest looking at him. He only wore a pair of brown pants with leather shoes when he was in the forge. It was how he grew up. If one took note, they would have seen a rather elaborate tattoo on his left shoulder that wrapped around the front and back of it.
The young Isur just looked at the human who looked like an awkward teenage human with long lanky arms but he thought most humans looked odd even if he grew up around them. |

This was the first time Chase had ever encountered another race other than the human species. The surprise on his face was evident of this fact. However, the boy wasn't about to let interracial barriers stop him from getting a job. He needed one if he intended to live here in Nyka.
“What can I get you? You said something about a job? Well that depends. Can you smith? Run a shop? Get a discount in items from the right people?”
As the Isur spoke, Chase found his chance of getting this job drop lower and lower. He didn't know how to run a shop, and his grasp on reading and writing was very small. He knew how money worked though thanks to his Grandpa, his first master. However he knew little to nothing about smithing, and he had no connections to the various places here to get any kind of discount.
"Ah..." he hesitated for a bit, looking defeated. "N-no... I don't know how to smith... or run a shop. I uh..." he stopped for a moment thinking of what skills he could provide. "I-I can run fast... I follow orders... I can count money." he stopped again, looking at Jaios trying to gauge his reaction. "I really need a job though." he began rubbing his left arm with the other, quickly becoming nervous. "Without one... I wont survive. Please, is there something I can do...? |

The isur just looked upon the person with a slight glare. This felt like a joke but he just shook his head when the person spoke yet Jaios knew he could not be picky right now when it came to help since he did not make a name for himself yet.
“Well I need help and I am not in the mood to turn away someone who wants to try to ask for help. Dislike it when people sit back and want things to be given to them. I need a Laborer to run about the city. They need to bring me items to smith, Need to bring out the items I make and set them in the shop but I also need you to sell and tend the shop so I can keep focus on my task. The pay however will depend on how much work you do. I have a place you can stay so you won’t have to spend money on rooms at an inn unless you have a house here.”
He was to the point and this was wasting his time but he was not going to tell the person that. He was not that rude or at least he did not try to be that rude to people.
"If you can start today. If you can't then come back when you can start. I will help you if you need it with task but you need to have the drive to work alone without me watching you."

Chase shrank back at the glare, feeling he had some how overstepped his bounds here. However, as the Isur spoke, Chase began to feel a bit better about the situation. He still looked as if was ready to run, should he somehow anger the small man.
He listened intently, hanging onto every word Jaios spoke. It really seemed that he was willing to give the boy a chance, and that was enough for him. "I-if your willing t-to teach me how to run the store, I'll be okay." he spoke softly, but loud enough for the man to hear. "I have a room at the Inn right now... for a full season. B-but I can l-live here once my rent is out of date." the boy seemed a bit less nervous as he spoke. Maybe it was the hope of holding down a job that was giving him this new confidence?
"I can start today." Chase said with a small smile. "T-tell me what to do, how to do it and I'll get it done. Sir."
Oddly enough, Chase didn't seem too apprehensive about receiving orders. Nor did he complain about carrying them out. It was as if he was ready to become a loyal employee. |

Jaios left back to the forge room and returned a bit later with a small bag. Within the brown bag was 15 gold coins as he passed it to Chase.
“Take this and go to the Fourth day Market and get a hold of one punching bag and a training post. This should be more than enough however try to get the best price for them and bring them back. One at a time so you don’t damage them if you find them. Also what is your name? I am Jaios. If I need to do any paperwork for you let me know.”
Jaios said as he made sure Chase knew what to do. This was his first job for him and if he had no other questions he was going back to work.
OOC: You can either do it all in one post or whatnot. Jaios will answer your questions otherwise leaving you to do this the best way you see fit. Sorry for the shorter posts.

"A-ah, yes sir, right away sir." he bowed once, and as the Isur asked for his name, Chase only smiled timidly and answered. "It's Chase..." and with that the boy ran to the streets, finding his way to the Fourth Day Market.
Fourth Day Market
The streets were lively as he entered the market. Apparently the early bird got the worm here in Nyka. Already there were various stores open with a few people entering and leaving. The street were mainly a mess due to various store owners having their employee's run supplies back and forth.
At first the boy had some trouble locating the place of business he needed to trade for. A training post and a punching bag, those were items that should be sold... somewhere right? It took him at least an hour before he was able to locate the right store. And even then the boy was so nervous that it was another five ticks before he could bring up the courage to enter the establishment.
The trade between him and the merchant went... okay? The barter between them went back and forth for a bit. Chase didn't know how these items should be priced, and a few times he thought the man was trying to swindle him out of the money Jaios gave him. Eventually the man let both of the items go for five gold miza a piece. Chase hoped that this was satisfactory for his boss and agreed to the trade. Although he did ask the store owner to hold onto the second item as he ran the first back to the shop. The owner agreed and pocketed the money Chase laid out on the counter.
Getting back with the first item was easy enough. The punching bag wasn't THAT heavy, although Chase did feel his legs start to burn as he approached The Burning Barge. "G-got them both!" he announced when he arrived back. "Going to get the training post now." He placed the punching bag behind the counter, so no wandering eyes would see it and attempt to steal the item just bought. Without waiting for his boss to react, Chase quickly ran out the store and back to the previous one for the next pick up.
All in all, the trip for the two items only took the span of four hours. Mainly due to the fact that Chase was running most of the way. However his legs did feel a bit sore from the trip of carrying such heavy objects. But he didn't complain as he reentered the smithy. As he placed the training post behind the counter, Chase reached behind him and withdrew the last of the coins that went unspent, five gold miza. "D-done Sir Jaios." he said with a small smile on his face. He felt he had done a good job, and it felt good to actually do it! |
