Much like her Konti counterparts, Mel has a frame so slender that she appears fragile. Her nails (always painted white) are immaculately trimmed, and her hands have webbing between the fingers. Despite their amphibian nature, however, her fingers are long and well suited for music, thin and smooth without being bony. While she is far too thin to be considered at all athletic, the appearance is slightly deceiving—she doesn't train, but there is lithe muscle under her skin.

Also like all Konti, Mel has scales that spiral around her skin. There are thick spots of scales that ruffle out like lilies—this occurs on the bottom of her feet, along her spine, and at the base of her neck. Between these “blossoms,” thinner lines of scales vine around the outer area of her legs and biceps, running up to either side of her neck and along the left side of her face. It's also important to note that like her fingers, her toes are webbed. She also has gills at the base of her neck.

Mel's face remains the picture of youth, sporting full red lips and long lashes. Both the curve of her chin and nose are baby-like in their softness, her brows finely shaped. Only her eyes reveal her age, often melancholy even when she smiles.

Mel typically wears her hair free and down, making use of hair product that never seems to let it tangle. When performing, however, she often sports a flower, barrette, or comb in her hair, but even then refrains from updos to diminish the appearance of her scales. Her clothing is not at all typical to a traveler or simple artist, as she prefers light and long dresses of satin. or silk. Colors most worn are of any shade—more often sporting cyan or white. The gowns are generally loose and lacking in sleeves, instead tying around the neck.

Though used to being in front of crowds, Mel prefers quieter groups where she can focus on individuals. She has a strong sense of empathy, and despite a past of betrayals and disappointments, she seems to constantly throw herself at those who need help. It makes her a person that is easily to manipulate, for although she is keen to see lies where they exist, she is also unable to put off the possibility that it could be truth. Because she is often out and about in the world, it tends to make for a great deal of good as well as trouble.

Needless to say, Mel is also a peaceful and creative creature. While she has been known to perform bold and patriotic pieces, she has never been particularly outspoken in her beliefs when it comes to action or conversation, preferring to appease rather than fight. It puts her at constant odds with herself, as she craves a merciful world, but knows that reality forces people to do horrible things. So it is that she bears the cruelty of others to a point, understanding that it is better to take the blows than to make things worse by trying to shield someone she can't actually protect.
