Juliane Snowsong

Appearance

Race: Vantha
Gender: Female.
Age: 17
Birthday: 4th, Winter, 495 AV.
Birthplace: Avanthal

Appearance:

Juliane is around 168 centimeters - or 5'6'' - in height, has an average body that deems between athletic and normal. And note, if you will, that her height is a bit taller for most girls of her race. But she does have the appearance similar to many of her race; olive skin tone, middle-sized height, a smaller frame, a round, slightly chubby face - the given is that along with her chubby face, she has a look of innocence. Her big eyes give her the overall aura of that innocence as well.

Juliane has another distinct thing about her that is taken from her race: her eyes. Forever changing, they have several colors that change throughout moods. All of which may not even fit the given mood.

She was born with black hair, that was slightly wavy, but as of sixteen and up, her hair became a brown color with highlights, accentuating her features and skin tone.

Eye Colors:

Calm, Relaxed: Brown (usually any shade)
Hyper, Excited: Light blue
Curious, lost in thought: A soft pink
Angry, Frustrated: Dark blue
Happy: A vibrant purple
Sad, hurt, upset: Stone grey
Passionate about someone/something, in love: Ruby red
Lust, wants, desires: Black
Confused: Hot pink
Focused: Orange
Scared: Salmon

Juliane's eye colors sometimes contradict one another; for example when she is hyper, excited, or overall ecstatic about something, her eye color shifts to a light blue hue. You'd think when it gets darker that she'd be feeling a similar emotion, when in reality a darker blue means she's angry or frustrated at someone.

A thing to remember is that her eye colors mix, meaning that the feelings are mixed. Or her eyes sometimes create an illusion within itself; the color appears to one that it isn't. For instance: if she becomes angry and upset at the same time, the dark blue and grey colors might mix into a black color. Black represents a whole other feeling, but in this case, it isn't so. If you're ever curious, might as well ask Juliane how she's feeling. She'll explain.. maybe.

Character Concept

Juliane is an even-tempered girl who is a bit too outgoing at times. Just like her people, she is welcoming to all and friendly; she always sees the best in those no matter what. With her friendly and outgoing demeanor, she seems childish, gullible, and easily amused. One of which is true. Juliane can be rather mature when need-be, isn't one to be caught gullible, and is easily amused. But years before, Juliane was actually each of those three things.

Juliane likes to sing and dance; coming from her Hold of Snowsong and the background of music, it's something easily guessed. She will talk aloud to herself, sing to herself, and dance at the most inappropriate times. With this, people have deemed her 'crazy' and 'too childish to marry'. In her world, marrying before 20 is the normal thing; she's seventeen and without any takers all because of her way of life.

One thing you might notice about Juliane (that is if you are speaking in Common) that she has a slight accent. This is thanks to her being fluent in Vani and not-so-fluent in Common, and the pronunciation drifting between the two. Though it's gotten better, her accent is still noticeable and when confronted about it, she just shrugs it off, giggling.

Character History

Juliane was raised by two parents: Elissa and Crucius. Her parents were always good to her - teaching her the skills they knew whilst her mother taught her the stories she knew and made. Over years, as she grew, Juliane's interests grew majorly. She went from wanting to learn about her Vantha race to wanting to explore her world and everywhere possible. From the deepest cavern, to the highest place she could get. Except maybe not the highest, because Juliane had a terrible fear of heights.

Around the age of four, Juliane's parents welcomed a new child into their small household - Lanie. Juliane loved the small child since she arrived; caring after her and building her forts and castles and telling her wild tales of how they'd sail the sea and find other people to meet. And thanks to the creative mind of her sister and mother, Lanie grew up bubbly and just as creative as them, but was more sweet and caring than her older sister. So as the two grew up, Juliane carried the burden of the 'crazy one' instead of her younger look-a-like sister, who acted a lot the same.

But the two never fought. The parents always loved each child equally, garnering a great love back. The family wasn't always happy; Lanie threw tantrums whenever a bad comment was made or Juliane teased her. And Elissa was constantly in her world, and getting worse at that, leaving the two girls distant and on their own. This left Lanie to explore her Hold and venture out, making friends, while Juliane stayed to tend to her mother and her own personal needs.

Around the age of fifteen, Juliane's mother disappeared from her world - no one knew where she went, not even her father or sister, and no one outside ever spoke of it. So Juliane didn't either. Years passed and it affected her, leaving her to sit quietly in her room and ponder things. From then on she hoped to search for her mum, but she didn't know how. All was left of her was a small, stuffed rabbit that she had since she could remember. But years later she found a secret compartment inside the rabbit, hidden by it's fur. The compartment held a small paper, a small note written for Juliane from her mother. And since the day she found it, she hasn't reread it since.

Housing

Location: Avanthal

House: 1 basic 20x20 Arvinta in a Hold with a hearth, bunk, chest, chair, and small table.

Each Arvinta consists of a communal meeting or sitting room. Then there are private rooms for couples, and a common sleeping/living room for all the children. Visitors are often given a private room, while a couple will move in with the children to make extra room. Some of the larger, more expansive Holds with wealthier families have spare rooms in their Arvinta or special guest quarters when people move from place to place visiting. Holds often have common areas and craft cottages in buildings attached and are always made of solid stone. External buildings are often built from ice and warmed from within by special braziers that conduct heat into the room but do not melt the thick ice walls. A Hold may contain multiple Arvintas and might hold upwards of a couple hundred people.
