Physical Description:

Cait’s physique is typical of her people. Sporting lengthy dark locks laced with a subtle gleam of crimsons and golds. She is by no means statuesque, standing at 5’7” she conforms fully to her Vantha heritage. The woman possesses a athletic form, sporting lean well conditioned muscles that are accustomed to combat.Cait is very much a fighter and no stranger to combat; her body very fittingly reflects this aspect of her everyday existence. The only defining features of her are of course her eyes.
While her eyes are very well capable of changing color, as with any Vantha; hers tend to cling to very pale hues of storm cloud gray and pallid blues. Cait often opts to deal with the world in a very stoic and almost apathetic manner, restraining her emotions as to keep prying eyes from discerning her thoughts and feelings from a simple change in eye color. However when she is actually pressed to turbulent emotional lengths, her eyes are awash with color, ranging from emerald green when fearful, and bold ripples of gold when defiant.

Eye Colors:
Gray/Pale Blue –Stoic/Indifferent
Green – Afraid/Terror
Gold- Defiant
Crimson- Rage
Dark Indigo :Sadness
Violet/Deep Blue: Joy

Character Concept

Cait Frostfawn is by all means a fighter to her very core. She never considered for a moment as a youth to join her elder sister on the path to marriage and eventual motherhood. As a youngster Cait was as stubborn and defiant as they came. She often dwelt at the epicenter of every brawl and conflict, trouble always followed in her wake. This particular Vantha was never one to surround herself with many friends, but she will cling to a precious trustworthy few.

Strangers, and those unfamiliar to Cait are most often met with her steely and indifferent exterior. As she matured into adulthood, the vivacity she once knew as a child slowly dissipated. The loss of a childhood friend was the precursor to this change, along with the push from her mother and sister to settle down and begin courting for a husband. Despite her stoic nature, Cait is much like any human, possessing the tendency to sway dangerously with her emotions. Leaving home is never an easy choice, nor one any child ever thought they would have to make. Cait Frostfawn left her home and thus became Cait Scarlett; changing her surname to conceal her connection to the north and become someone of her own choosing.

Character History
________________________________________________

It was in the crisp winter morning that Cait Frostfawn was born. The second child of Rissa Frostfawn and Osann Frostfawn, and the second little girl since the eldest Elisa was born five years before. They were very typical of a Vantha family, the two children were raised not only by their parents but by a neighboring aunt and uncle as well. Granted Elisa never really took to Aunt Eirian as much as Cait did. But the woman was a bit abrasive at the best of times, so it was understandable. Still this was the beginning of many differences between the two young sisters as they began to grow.

By the time Cait was ten, Elisa was beginning to devote her time to training with their mother to eventually marry and have a family of her own. Cait on the other hand was still quite young, and spent most of her time with her Aunt. The portly woman was as tough as nails and was perhaps one of the greatest influences on Cait as a child. Aunt Eiri often served as a local medicine woman when a proper healer was not on hand. She walked the snow laden forests for herbs and other plants useful in mending skin and bone. Often her niece walked at her side on these brief expeditions into the wilderness listening to Eirian’s stories. Most were nothing but wild folktales, others she seemed to make up entirely. Still it spared Cait of her mother’s lessons as she prepared her oldest daughter for marriage. Perhaps that is how Cait slipped through the cracks and deviated from the path that she may otherwise have walked.

It would be not far from this point that Cait began to become a magnet for mischief. It started with the bloodied nose of a boy that had shoved her to the ground, then the broken wrist of a girl that had been teasing the young Vantha. One might imagine that Cait Frostfawn was headed down a treacherous road had she not met someone who would become a lasting friend through the entirety of her childhood. He was often the subject of teasing and jeers from the other Hold children and Cait needed very little prompting to get herself into trouble those days. All it had taken was a stick and a few bruised egos to send them running. His name was Nenkasai Archibal, the child of traveling scholars , and of mixed Vantha heritage. After that day they became close friends and Cait was faced with an thought-provoking realization. Perhaps she could do more with her strength than simply provoke her parents and fight with the other children; maybe she could actually do some good along the way. She had hope, and even a purpose for the few years that she and Nenkasai were friends. Cait was his protector, and even the defender of other children. There was now hope that she did not have to rush off and marry as her sister was surely to do. She could join the Icewatch, or even travel the world and become a real solider one day.

Yet such dreams are only possible inside the mind of a child. Happy years passed before the day came when it all began to crumble. Nenkasai was to leave, his parents now looking to the horizon for their next endeavor. Their goodbye was brief and bitter, impossible promises were made that they might see each other again as he disappeared from the high north. Cait was alone again.

In the coming years after her best friend departed, the young woman began seeking out a way to leave and begin again on her owns terms. She managed to beg a member of the Icewatch that was versed in the magic of Flux and unarmed combat to train her in the late hours of the night. The practice granted her focus and an ever growing need to leave and make a new life.

Her chance came just before her twentieth birthday. Her Aunt brought her a simple package wrapped in brown paper with a sad smile on her face. She was wordless as she passed the parcel to her niece who quickly removed the twine and pulled the paper aside. A scarlet traveling coat lay on her lap, carefully knitted embroidery in a coppery gold thread twined around the edges of the collar. The woolen material was slightly worn, but much of the thread work looked as though it had been freshly stitched. Her Aunt quietly explained that the coat had once been her’s before she had married, when she’d had hopes of a different life. She had stood then and begun to retreat out of Cait’s room before stopping. She didn’t look back and meet her niece’s baffled expression, Eirian simply spoke.

“One day, maybe you will be in the stories.”
It was a humble and unfettered statement that left Cait in silence as her aunt retreated down the steps. They didn’t speak again, for Cait fled the Hold that night, and became Cait Scarlett.
