Spring 31st, 513 A.V
Early afternoon
After coming back from his shopping adventure from Garthos supply and Baultimes, Ran would look over his new backpack and several other items. Looking over the cooking pot, as he would grab the tinder he had and dig in his first back pack. He would also grab his rations for today, expecting his cooking to taste as horrid as it had for the past two days. Being the main reason for his purchase of the Ale from Baultimes, though he would hope the Ale didn't get him too worked up. Though Topaz stood not too far from the tent grazing, Ran would hear the breathing and stepping of the steed outside the tent. As he prepared his second backpack now. Placing his new Signal Whistle, Trail rations, Animal Snare after he got done messing with the item and learning how to work it properly enough into the bag. Looking over his disorganized tent, he would grab at the oil and take a torch from his other backpack placing it in his new one with the oil.
Grabbing his high boots, leather belt, leather breeches and camouflages jerkin. Ran would lay it by the flap of his tent, before carrying about 15 tinder outside of his tent. Standing behind the tent, he would prepare a small fire pit for himself to try and cook. He would clear the grass and pat the dirt down. Placing the wood into a small pile, he would try to begin a fire. After going back into his tent and grabbing the flint and steel, working on making the fire Ran would feel the heat upon his back. Being hungry as it was, he didn't want to go without anything today.
After several tries and several tantrums, with several beating's upon the tinder. Ran would finally get a small, but simple fire going. Looking at the fire, he wouldn't be able to cook much as he would go back to the tent to only come out with more tinder to have the fire out. With the five pieces of tinder he held, he would swear up and down the area outside his four person tent. His horse, Topaz looking in his direction as he yelled at the fire and nothing in particular. In fact he only yelled at his bad luck with starting the fire, as he would begin once more upon the fire. His patience growing thin, as he would stack the wood once more using the flint and steel to strike at the tinder.
Wondering how his meat would taste in the Ale that Ran had just bought, as well as looking at the supply of water he had. Being that of whatever he could find, besides what was in his water skin. Knowing he would need to solve this problem later on. After getting a steady fire, Ran would grab the Ale and place it into the Cooking pot. Using the two quarts of the gallon, into the pot Ran would begin to place the meat into the pot from his weeks rations. Using his Table spoon to stir the content, his gloves slowly heating as he felt the throbbing of his minor cut upon his thumb under his glove.
Taking the spoon out, he would place it upon the Ale. Before taking his glove off hiding the small cut, examining it as his blood had dried and it seemed cleaned. Though he knew it wasn't deep, from the looks of the skin and the feel of it. Using his new six inch bowl, he would pour himself a bit of Ale from the Two quarts left drinking a sip of it and finding it greatly to his liking.
Watching Topaz, Ran would stir his soup. Wondering how it would taste, though not wanting to try it as he feared the worst. Looking down at the soup, which was being stirred before sighing. Knowing this was better then eating the bread, which lasted him the last two days. Though he greatly wished he had more then for just two more days within his weeks food. Looking at his new backpack, which had been now filled. He would feel like he was almost done with preparing, though he knew he would have to ask the hunters of the city a few things. However, he would not worry about this now as he would be more worried about not trapping anything at all in the days to come.
Sighing once more, the troubles flowed into his mind. Ran looking into the soup, as it began to boil. Looking at it, he wondered it Ale should boil at all. Though he wouldn't question it, knowing that watered boiled. However, this would be his first time using Ale in place of water. Let alone his food made it rare for him to cook, the taste normally being horrid to the tongue. Using the bowl, he would bring some of the soup from the Pot to the bowl dipping it within.
Taking his spoon, he would look at the soup questioningly. Before he would taste it, almost puking. However, the ale made it go down roughly Ran thought the ale covered up most of the horrid taste of the meat that had been overly cooked. After eating his fill, Ran would look at the pot sighing as he would be filled. But enjoying the meal, was a different story. Hoping that the soup didn't come back to curse him later within the day. Stepping upon the now almost dead fire, to ensure his tent wasn't caught upon fire. He would carry his pack and items into his four person tent. Looking over the new one person tent he bought for traveling, wanting to see the world a bit. Though mostly for overnight hunting away from the settlement. Before he would begin to lay down to a nap, feeling his stomach turning from his earlier meal. Though he suspected to feeling better after the nap, though then again he had remembered that he had used ale to wash the food down and to cook it in.
