Eating Paper (Job)

42nd Spring 513

Ryan went into the lab he'd hired out and began getting everything ready. He set up the font, the pedestal and the filters. Then he got a bucket and went over to the well to get some water. He put it next to the alchemic ring and went over to the board of things to do.
Get the ring set up, tick, get the water set up, tick, get the paper off the customer, tick, get acid, hmm.

Ryan walked around the lab looking for the package that he'd ordered. It wasn't there. He guessed he'd have to go around the university looking for it. He checked all the labs one by one. They weren't there either. There was only one more place. The head of Alchemy's office. Him and Ryan never really got along since what happened last week, with him melting a gold necklace all over the floor and having to get things to clean it up.

Eventually he got there. He took a deep breath and then went in. The minute he opened the door, he felt eyes boring into him.
"look, do you have a package for me" he said to him.
"yep, acid , don't go melting the lab" he said handing to him.
Ryan took the box of acid and went back to his lab. He hated that guy. He wanted to kill him. But he wouldn't, he'd probably get chucked out.

Ryan ticked the acid off the list as well. Next he needed tongs. He found them in a cupboard, tick. Then he began. He put the paper on the pedestal carefully making sure all of it was inside the circle. Then he poured some acid into the fount. Usually he would chuck the bottle away but he need it for making gloves he could handle the acid with. Then he poured some water into the filter. Everything looked set up. He checked the door was locked and closed. If anything went wrong he didn't want anyone getting hurt. Then he started.

He got a pin and pricked his finger. He made sure blood was dripping from it and then pressed it against the ring. He began to will the elements from the charger round the ring. He blocked everything else out. He needed to maintain absolute concentration or everything would fail. He built up the momentum. It went round faster and faster. He built it up again. Faster. He willed even more power. Faster. It was taking a lot of effort but that was probably because he was tired. He had been out all night as symenstra hunting in the wild. He got some good catches. Some deer. Some birds. He managed to get enough to keep him sated until the morning when he turned back. Faster, faster, faster.

Eventually he felt it was ready. He willed all the djed into the middle. He almost collapsed as it done it. Finally he was done. He ran to get the tongs and plunged it into a bucket of water. He had done it. His first customer. He wanted to show it to him but he needed to let it cool. He would go home and come back in the morning. He would get the gloves made and then take it to the customer.

Eating Paper (Job)

43rd Spring 513AV

Allan woke up at dawn, just as he was changing. After he had done that, he got changed and started heading towards the University. On the way there he picked up some glass for 2gm. Then he went into his lab. He pulled the acid paper out and carefully put it down on the desk. It sizzled away a little bit of the desk but luckily it needed pressure to go right through. Then he went back to checklist. The next thing to do was get the gloves acid proof. Ryan wrote down a diagram of what he wanted to do with gloves. As far as he knew, the bottle the acid came in was acid proof or otherwise it would dissolve. So if he could put the bottle in as a fount and then put in glass as filter, it should just leave the chemical that the bottle was coated with on the gloves. He hoped.

He went and re-filled the bucket, pouring all the old stuff out to make sure he got rid off all the alchemical residue. Then he filled it back up and went back to the ring. He cleaned out the ring and then filled it up. First the bottle as a fount, then the glass as a filter and then he got the gloves out his bag. He put them in the middle. Then he got the pin again. He pricked the other finger this time and placed it against the ring. He wasn't as tired this time so I shouldn't take as long. He started building up momentum, faster, faster, faster, faster. Eventually he felt it was ready. He pushed it all into the middle and then stopped. He picked up the gloves. It was time to test if it worked. He slid them on and then went over to the acid paper. He would either have made a big success or get a hole in his hand. He picked them up and... it worked! Ryan was so relieved. It was time to take them to his customer.

Eating Paper (Job)

Ryan made his way to his customers house to deliver the goods. Hannah Mackay. She lived quite near the university which was lucky because Ryan wanted to appear as a Etheafal rather than a Symenstra because of how people felt about them. But it was still early. Which was good. He spent a while having to ask for directions which didn't happen often. Finally he arrived. He knocked on the wooden door and stood back. Then he watched as a fairly small women opened the door.
"Oh, you're here finally. I though you said it would only take a day" she said to him "Well come on in"
"Thank you" he said as he walked in "I thought it would but I realised it needed gloves to make sure you didn't melt your hand"
"That was nice of you" she said laughing "Can you please show me how to use it"
"Sure" he said

He put it down on her table and saw shock in her face.
"Don't worry, It only dissolves things if you put pressure on it" he said slipping the gloves on "So it's over here you want it"
She nodded
"Okay well all you need to do is rub it as hard as you want on the wall and it will bubble away the wallpaper, I'll do it light for now"
He started rubbing it on the wall and then pulled the paper away. It worked. It was only the bare wall left.
"Now whatever you do, do not pick up this without the gloves on or you will burn your hand and you don't want that happening do you?"
"Thank you very much" she said back to him
His first customer was happy and all had went well. Good. Now to get even more customers.

(The writing here seemed so rushed. Slow down, we are all here because we want to get to know Ryan, want to get to know you as a writer. Enjoy the process, and write all the emotions and movements Ryan makes. Show us what he does, don't just simply tell us that he has done it. Ryan's story could be so much richer, please don't feel like you need to rush through to get things done, what he created and his experience is of little consequence.

Symestra are physically frail, and you may want to be careful in the future what tactics you employ to hunt. A deer could easily kill you if you don't have skill to fall back on.

I don't recognize "Acid paper," as it were, as a substance Zeltiva would have.

There are a few flaws with the process you used which I want make you edit, these first threads are usually disregarded once you get on your feet anyway, but please go read the Alchemy thread again and ensure the process makes sense to you, specifically the placement of objects and djed while working. Also, use the vocabulary they use in the lore, it will help you win some more XP. Aside from the placement needing some work the logic here is also a tad flawed. The beaker/vial/jar would not be resistant to the acid because of the coating on it, but rather because the acid was not made to break apart glass. Research research research research, you picked a very hard science here. Both you and Ryan need to do tests, and research to determine what elements of objects need to be carried on, and which you desire/want gone. By all means the gloves may have taken on a glassy sheen then broken the outter layers upon dawning the gloves. Back to the acid, one must really specify what kind of acid was taken, then you have to consider how to make the acid long lasting, and hold together with the materials of the ring. There is a whole process (which frankly abhors me) that wasn't given justice here, so I won't be giving you any expierence, but nor will I be deducting or adding any money for this thread. Take what you have learned here and try to hatch a new thread. I suggest you find a good nuit somewhere, like rayage, to give you some pointers on how to proceed.

Best to you, Ryan.

Oh, and P.S. - You need to get jobs approved in the request thread, and have your CS and SS threads links under your avatar before you will make any money during quarters. This thread does not count as a work thread, and is void for the purpose, even with editing. This thread would need to be completely reworked to count, which I would suggest attempting in a later season.) - if you have ANY questions or concerns about this grading, please PM me.
