His eye color changes with his mood as it did when he was alive. Lucanius is five feet, ten inches tall and weighed about 165 pounds in life. He has long, wavy, black hair with purple highlights which reaches down his back.
He has high cheekbones, a small, thin nose, and a rounded face. His skin is an olive color.
Character Concept While Lucanius could be said to have a warm personality, he is at the same time very reserved. He is not above being friendly, yet he usually prefers to keep to himself. Since his introduction to unlife, Lucanius has had very little communication with others, if any. Although he fully acknowledges that he is dead, he still prefers to spend nights under a roof and enjoys being around other people, even if they aren't aware of his presence.
Lucanius certainly is a man of morals. Years of reading books on culture, ethics, and conduct have given him a sense of honesty and responsibility. He enjoys resolving conflict whenever possible. As a result of his traumatic experience before death, he has the inability to tolerate people who blame others for things they are innocent of. Being blamed for something as small as moving a glass or ruffling bedsheets have been known to send Lucanius into a rage. He has no real prejudices for any people other than those who practice summoning. He tends to look down on those who are racist or hateful on the basis of race.
Of the many books he has read, many of them were fiction. As a result, Lucanius could be described as very quixotic, having a sense for drama. This sense for drama and his quixotic tendencies played a part in his reappearance as a ghost. The plot has yet to be resolved, so his job is not yet finished. He has made it his mission to find the summoner who summoned the glassbeak that lead to the death of both Jan and himself. It has never occurred to him that the glassbeak may have not been summoned at all, and simply wandered into town, and it probably never will. Lucanius is very mistrusting of any summoners.
Character History Lucanius never met his father, who died weeks before his birth in a freak fishing accident. Soon after his birth, Lucanius' mother made a deal with the leader of a trade caravan heading south to Sylira to find a better life for her and her new-born son. Unfortunately, she neglected to inform the caravan leader that she was bringing her son with them. When he discovered Lucanius, he became enraged, killed his mother, and threw Lucanius out into the frozen wilderness. Luckily, a traveling storyteller by the name of Jan soon happened upon the newborn Lucanius and took him in as his own.
Jan took Lucanius to his small hut in the wilderness around Syliras to raise him. Jan's own wife and children had died years ago from a disease, so Jan was happy to have company again after being relatively alone for so long. The relationship between Jan and Lucanius was quite close, and the only way to tell that Lucanius wasn't his biologic son was Lucanius' obvious Vanthan heritage.
Jan made sure to educate the young Lucanius, as he himself was a graduate from the University of Zeltiva. Jan gave Lucanius full access to his large library of books of varying topics with his home. The two shared the sentiment that a well-rounded mind could conquer any task that brute force could. Lucanius excelled in his learning, impressing Jan at every turn. He was taught to read right, how to use rhetoric, of the societies of the different races, of great and powerful wizards, the teachings of philosophers, and even of his own people's language, Vani.
When Lucanius turned twenty, Jan decided to teach him something that before that time he had deemed too dangerous: the art of Reimancy. His progress in Reimancy was rocky at first, but he soon had a good grasp on the practice. As soon as Jan deemed his knowledge of Reimancy to be adequate, he told him to go out and live on his own. Lucanius bought a small apartment in Syliras, but he still spent most of his time roaming the countryside alone and with Jan.
One day, Lucanius heard a commotion in one of the markets of Syliras. By the time he reached the market, he saw a bizarre scene. A group of Syrilian Knights gathered around what looked to be the corpse of a Glassbeak with several dead citizens scattered about. He heard murmurs of a rogue summoner skulking around. The next day, as he made his way towards the outskirts of Syliras, he noticed smoke coming from the direction of Jan's hut. He ran as quick as he could, but he was too late. His adopted father Jan had been hung on a nearby tree, his hut in flames. A mob of angry citizens, clearly not of any knightly or lawful order, surrounded the tree. In his rage, Lucanius used his Reimancy to balls of fire at the crowd. In the heat of the moment, his attacks didn't cause any real damage, and Lucanius soon succumbed to overgiving and passed out. Lucanius was hung on the same tree as Jan for the same crime that he did not commit.
Since then, his ghost has been wandering the landscape, searching for the summoner that led to his demise. He has taken a sort of interest in figuring out what he can and can't do as a ghost, learning both by the example of other ghosts he sees or his own experimentation.
Language Fluent Language: Common
Basic Language: Vani- Jan made sure to teach Lucanius as much of what would have been his native language as he could.
Poor Language: Fratava- Since Lucanius lived near the coast for most of his life, he picked up a small bit of the native tongue of the Svefra from merchants and traders in and around Syliras.
