Character Concept history Tsilah was born in Lhavit, the daughter of retired Shinya Lael Hakame and astronomer Tavi Hakame. In inclination, she took more after her mother, becoming an Initiate at the age of nine. In the following year, Lael disappeared from the city; to the great dismay of all who knew her, she was never seen by them again, in life or in death. Convinced the Symenestra had Harvested Lael for their macabre practices, Tsilah dedicated herself most firmly to following in her mother's footsteps as a protector of Lhavit. She progressed to Acolyte at the age of 14, carried through by the strength of her conviction and dedication. But as the years progressed, Tsilah came to chafe at what seemed a lack of action on the Shinya's part -- surely they could do more to prevent the Symenestra from preying on Lhavitian women. Surely she could do more to protect the city than to stand guard within its bounds, keeping order among its denizens. But she persevered in her course, harnessing that drive and determination into her training. In her 18th year, Tsilah faced her Awakening, that final test of a Shinya's discipline and devotion -- and failed it. Her petition was rejected, an irredeemable failure which would define the rest of her life. After that debacle, Tsilah left Lhavit, unwilling to face a lifetime of service to true Shinya -- and unwilling to contemplate any other profession within the city of her birth. Rootless and adrift, she eventually found her way across the Suvan, putting the breadth of the entire continent between herself and the shattered dreams of her youth... personality Tsilah is shaped by her loves and her hates, and by her failures more than her successes. She is often cool in demeanor, distant and detached from all that which has no personal significance to her. She frequently comes off as callous and uncaring, even scornful of others -- which she is. Her outlook on life tends to the cynical, her attitude towards others unfriendly when it isn't outright antagonistic. Those who rouse her ire know it to lie near the surface, quick and vivid in its intensity, menacing in its expression. Those whom Tsilah cares for are met with the same gruff exterior, and are just as subject to threats of violence as her enemies. But actions speak loudest of all, and Tsilah will do for her friends what she'd never do for anything else under sun or moon...

Rani the dog has basic guard training, though tends to regard new situations and people with pronounced caution above all else; aggression only arises when she is cornered, when Tsilah is threatened, or if something she has specifically been set to guard is approached by anyone save Tsilah. Rani is an occasional hunter, mostly of small and quick critters, and loves to run when she has the space to do so. A devoted and affectionate mother, Lael was never very critical of her daughter, but led by firm example -- and to this day, her example is the standard Tsilah measures herself against. Skills and Abilities gnosis +1 Evantia The singularly marked individual can expand an Evantia Aura and begin sensing the motions and movements - even intent - of the person within the Aura. The Aura’s range spreads out from the individual at its center to upwards of fifty feet. Processing time is slow for the marked individual initially, but within a season of working with an Evantia Aura or through continued practice, a marked individual can easily anticipate the movements of those within the aura. At first, one on one combat is the strongest most easiest to read. Gradually, as seasons pass, more opponents can be added and anticipated as the wearer of the mark grows accustom to the increased perception. The rule of thumb for this gnosis is simple. Add one opponent carefully sensed and perhaps anticipated for every season the gnosis is in active use. These opponents still need to be within the aura’s influence to be sensed. Timeline: Flashbacks the time of innocence 483 - 493 AV lhavit The time of Tsilah's childhood, those earliest formative years now remembered and cherished as a time of idyll. That time when her mother was still alive, that time when she had only just been accepted as a Shinya initiate -- that time when all the future was yet to come and everything she could imagine held only beautiful promise... the time of loss 493 - 501 AV lhavit Time passed after Lael Hakame's disappearance, until all finally presumed she must be dead. Even Tsilah could not hold out hope forever; eventually, life had to go on without her. During this period, Tsilah's life was wholeheartedly dedicated to her training as Initiate and later Acolyte, driven by her determination to live up to Lael's legacy. Her ambitions came down in crashing ruin when she came at last to her Awakening... and was found wanting, rejected by Zintila herself. Certain an ulterior motive lay beneath his actions, she regarded him with the constant attitude of suspicion even as familiarity gradually wore away its inner truth. Meanwhile, she also found employment in Kenash... until at last one job proved to be one too many, and it became the course of wisdom to leave the city of plantations altogether... Along the way, she and the spider at last had a fight which drove them apart, leaving Tsilah as alone as she had been before.
