Felavik Dysodamus

Appearance

Race: Akalak
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Birthday: 1, Spring, 480
Birthplace: Riverfell

Appearance: His eyes are a light hue of white and strangely inquisitive. Wrinkles above his brow might suggest he has spent long hours in thought or concentration. His hair is wrapped back in a simple yet intricate looking ponytail. This is for practicality rather than vanity.

Felavik's blue skin stretches upward and outward. However his finely toned muscles and heavy set do not look odd. No, he merely looks like a perfect physical specimen of a man scaled up and turned blue.

Of course he is not as perfect as all that. His eyebrows are exceptionally dark and bushy where thinner eye brows might have looked more sightly. A large scar above the right of his hip indicates where he was bitten by a Glassbeak. A long scar extends vertically over his abs where a Zith's sword made a shallow slash across his chest. He is also missing the tip of his left ear however he absolutely refuses to tell anyone how it happened. (As his Narrator I prefer to keep a trusting relationship with my brother of fiction. You'll have to find out some other way)

Character Concept

Felavik has spent his whole life under the tutelage of his Grandfather. A strong and opinionated old man he has taught Felavik strongly in the traditions of his people but his Grandfather has very recently passed and his father, a much less traditional Akalak, is returning home after over thirty years of Familial Banishment.

Character History

Felavik was sired by Vikor Dysodamus and Efela an Akalak and human female respectfully. His mother died while giving birth. His father, whose love for Efela was more than a need to breed, could not face his son after this. His father began to drink giving in more and more to the dark brother within. He neglected his child with great shame and regularly beat the Nakivak wet nurse who had been contracted to nurse the boy.

His Grandfather (Soryn Dysodamus), a well-known and respected man in the community, was outraged when he found out and, before word could get out of such shame and dishonour, took the young babe from Vikor and cast him out of Riverfell himself stripping the family name from him and banishing him from Riverfall on his honour. This was no lawful sanction but if Vikor were ever to return Soryn would tell all that had happened and Vikor would be vilified or even imprisoned. That was the last time Soryn ever seen his son.

Soryn took it upon himself to raise his Grandson. It was his responsibility and his alone. When he told his other son, Artimal, what had happened the man, and his Konti wife, had offered to take care of the child as they did their own. Soryn had simply refused. He felt as if he had taught Vikor the proper ways of their peoples than he wouldn't have acted in such a way.

And so it was that Soryn raised Felavik. He never told the child of his mother's death nor his father's banishment only that they had both gone away a long time ago. Soryn was a strict task master and made sure that Felavik was always on his toes. He taught him the value of bloodlines, family and race while making sure to teach him respect and compassion to those that are different than you. He taught Felavik that anything living has struggled to the point you see them today and that commands respect. There was a subtle respect in survival, he would say.

When Felavik reached fifteen he underwent the Rite of Trial with four other boys. One of which being one of his cousins. They set out to ambush their Glassbeak all five determined but nervous. They set up an ambush and when one came along they jumped out of the bushes and charged the thing. The glass beak managed to bite Felavik, who was already having problems with controlling his dark brother, and turned on his cousin mortally wounding him before Felavik lost all control and tackled the bird to the ground choking it to death maliciously. They had passed but not without losses. His Uncle's family moved to Mura soon after.

As part of his Rite of Trial afterword he announced which profession he would go into. It was little surprise to Soryn when Felavik named his intentions to join the Kuvay'Nas – the local militia. There was more to Felavik than warrior-in-training. He was curious and his curiosity often either got him into trouble or gave him valuable insight. Soryn hoped this path would help him get those valuable insights more often. It was admirable too that the boy loved his city so deeply he wished to protect it from harm. The boy even learnt choice phrases of Kontinese in order to interact with the Konti peoples living in the city.

It was around then that his Dark Brother came to light. He was cowardly and always sought to make Felavik choose the easiest way rather than the honorable way. Felavik named him after his father, Vikor, whom he had been told had run away. Soryn made sure to have their lessons focus more on the God Wysar and how discipline was the key to balance within the body.

Felavik continued his training with his Grandfather while also being trained by the Kuvay'Nas. When his thirtieth birthday came around it came time to do his Rite of Manhood but first he had to forge his Lakan under the tutelage of his Grandfather. Felavik didn't take to this as he had any of their other training. With careful instruction from his Grandfather and several restarts however a flawless Lakan was finally made. His Grandfather would accept nothing less.

When it came down to it the task of killing a Zith was much easier than the creation of his Lakan. His hunt was not solo however. Two boys, both of which he knew from his Rite of Trial, joined him. They made a plan. A plan that went horribly wrong. He was branded with a long scar across his blue abs for it. In the end however they did manage to kill a Zith (and some of his Henchman) and liberate some slaves while they were at it. None of their party even died!

When Felavik returned it was too grave news. His Grandfather lay ill and dying. It was his twenty-sixth decade of life and despite his efforts to remain fit his heart was too frail. He'd had a heart attack several days ago and he was fading fast. Soryn was dead within three days. His funeral was on the last day of Winter 512 AV. Friends of the family and Elders attended but Felavik was the only Dysodamus there. He had sent a message to his Uncle across the sea but he feared it had not reached him in ample time.

Felavik Dysodamus

Felavik Dysodamus

General Information :
1. What is your Name? Felavik
2. Do you go by a nickname or pet name? Some may refer to me as Fel.
3. How old are you? 33
4. What is your height? 6”8

Aesthetics :
1. Describe yourself as you see yourself.
2. Describe yourself as others typically see you. Calm, collected, gruff and blue.
3. What is your favorite body feature? I like all of my body. It is me and I am it. There are no singular parts. It is simply my body.
4. How physically fit are you? Peak Condition. Only the strong live on in their children.
5. How do you typically dress and what is your style? Clothes are a useful tool to shield against the cold but also a great distraction. I wear what is necessary to keep warm and covered.

Family :
1. Who are your parents and what are they like? My mother was a Human who returned to her peoples after giving birth. My father left me as a babe.
2. Do you have any brothers or sisters? No. I am the only child of my father.
3. What is your extended family like? My Grandfather was strong and wise until his death. My Uncle was strong too but I remember little of him. He left sometime after my Rite of Trial.
4. Do you consider close friends as important or more/less important than family? Family and friends are two separate ideals all Akalaks are in some way family. For the other races I could never consider them higher than my own family.
5. Do you treat animals like family? If the blood of my family coursed through the veins of a pig I would answer yes. As it stands I do not even treat animals as sentient creatures because they are not. That is not to say I am cruel in my treatment of animals. It merely means that I recognise the difference between us.

Location :
1. Where were you born? Riverfell
2. Where do you live now? Riverfell
3. If you could live anywhere in Mizahar where would that be? Riverfell.
4. Do you have a favorite place to vacation or spend leisure time? I do not need vacation times.
5. Where do you fear to be? I cannot fear. If I wish to preserve my bloodline, my race and my honour I must spare no quarter. Fear is for the weak.

Traits :
1. Do you have any physical weaknesses (disease, scars, and missing limbs?) I have a scar on my hip where a Glassbeak bit me during my Rite of Trial. That just made it all the more satisfying when I wrung it's neck.
2. Are you right handed or left handed? Right-handed
3. What languages do you speak? I speak Tukant and Common fairly well. When I grew up my Grandfather would always use Tukant when we were training and Common else wise.

Occupations :
1. What is your occupation? Guard
2. Do you like/dislike your work? Why? I love maintaining peace not just for the good of the city I love but the peoples I know and care for.
3. If you could be anything you wanted to, what would you be? A Champion of Wysar though that is a way of life rather than an occupation.
4. What occupation do you admire the most? Why? I admire the Elder Councilman of Riverfell who are both strong of mind and body. They have contributed to their bloodlines and proven themselves as true Akalak.
5. What occupation do you least like? Why? Dishonest occupations like thievery and spywork. These people have no honour and would not be above selling out their own elders for the allure of gold.

Childhood :
1. What sort of child were you? I was a quick-learner and a dutiful Grandson.
2. What is your favorite memory from childhood? Of many nights sat under a full Riverfell sky. There is beauty in the heavens.
3. What is your worst memory from childhood? I cannot picture the scene but the memory of my father's leaving still permeates my dreams.
4. What sort of relationship did you have with your parents? I had none. They were gone before I can really remember.
5. Who was your most influential rolemodel? My Grandfather; he was strong and wise.

Education :
1. What sort of education do you have? My Grandfather taught me all that I need to know about my self. What I must learn of others, he would say, is something I had to learn myself.
2. Do you like/dislike learning? I am eager to learn anything that will help me to achieve my goals.
3. Where or how did you learn most of your skills/abilities? Mostly from my Grandfather.
4. How do you learn best? Instruction.
5. What are your educational goals for the future? To learn what I must.

Relationships :
1. Do you form close bonds with people? Why? Why not? If they show themselves to be trustworthy I can. In the end, however, I must always consider the needs of my peoples over friendship.
2. Do you trust people easily? If not, why not? A healthy measure of caution is a wise trait. Not all are as they originally seem. Nothing should be taken on blind faith.
3. Do you consider yourself straight, gay, bi, or something else? Sex is a distraction. I must further my bloodline and only heterosexual sex will do this.
4. Have you ever been kissed? If so, describe the first time. No, I have not yet found an appropriate female.
5. Have you ever had sex? If so, describe the first time. No, I have not yet found an appropriate female.

Drugs and Alcohol :
1. Have you ever been drunk? If so, describe your first time. I prefer not to drink as it loosens your tongue and your mind. I have before and on my first time my dark brother made several vulgar comments toward a human female. I believe my hands may have wandered in an unsavoury way too.
2. Do you like to drink on a regular basis? No, I prefer not too.
3. What sort of alcohol do you prefer? Ale, if any.
4. Have you ever tried drugs (mood altering substances)? If so, which kinds and what did you think of them? I have not and I would only ever do so if I absolutely had too. If alcohol brings out the Dark Brother what would drugs do? Would they pacify both of my brothers? Bring one brother so close to the surface that I simply cannot feel the other? Drugs are the enemies of Discipline.
5. What do you think of drugs and alcohol? Be specific. In a way my body and mind are how I honour my God. To desecrate it with drugs and alcohol would be blasphemy.

Likes and Dislikes :
1. What are your hobbies? Training
2. Do you like to read? It is neccesary.
3. What annoys you more than anything else? Dishonour.
4. What do you find the most relaxing activity to do? Watch the heavens.

Favorites :
1. What is your favorite color or colors? The colours of the night sky.
2. What is your favorite time of day? Night.
3. What is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? The Night Sky
4. What do you like to eat? What do you hate to eat? I like meat best. It tastes good and is very filling. It is just what the body needs. There are many foods I would not like if it were not for the need to have as balanced a diet as possible. Taste is nothing to a healthy body.
5. What is your favorite type of weather? Does any kind scare you? Cool like a summer's eve. Fear is an illusion but storms are dangerous. The Djed storm of 512 still visits me in my nightmares.

Outlook :
1. Are you optimistic or pessimistic? I am realistic.
2. What are your religious views? I believe this is dealt with later on.
3. Would you be able to kill? I am and I have. It is necessary to kill to survive in this world.
4. What are your views on sex? Sex is like the Night Sky. It is beautiful, always has to come to an end and is ever changing.
5. What, in your opinion, makes a successful life? A lifetime of honor, dutifal servitude to Myras and most importantly of all as many sons as you can make. Honourable sons who will contribute to our race and our bloodline.

Emotions :
1. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings with others? It is generally none of their business.
2. Do you have any biases or prejudices? If I must admit to one it is my unwavering hatred toward the Zith. They are an unholy abomination.
3. What makes you happy? Living.
4. Who or what, if anything, would you die for? I would die for a loaf of bread in the right situation. My life is mine to give and it is mine alone to decide what is worthy.
5. What makes you angry? Dishonesty and abuse of the weak (especially woman).

Group Situations :
1. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? I will always seek to keep my nose out of other's affairs but if I am invited I may not be able to resist temptation.
2. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? If I feel I am the strongest warrior or of highest standing I will attempt to take the reigns.
3. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? People are difficult to handle and the more there are the harder they are to handle. I'd prefer to travel in a small group or alone if possible.
4. Do you care what others think of you? I am not impervious to the need to seek praise in others but only in those I feel are superior to myself such as my Grandfather or an Elder.
5. What do you think of others, in general? There are no general others. Every person is unique.

Self Image :
1. What is your greatest strength as a person? I always seek to be fair to all no matter how odd or strange foreign customs may be to me.
2. What is your greatest weakness? I am easily convinced when it comes to helping others I see as in the right which can get me in unneeded trouble.
4. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? Introverted.
5. Are you generally organized or messy? Organized.

Beliefs :
1. What God or Goddess do you find most appealing, if any? Wysar
2. Which God or Goddess do you fear, if any? A healthy measure of fear for all Gods keeps mortal kind in check.
3. Do you have any Gnosis Marks? If so, how did you receive them? No. I have not had the privilege of being gifted with a Gnosis Mark.
4. What lengths would you go to to please your deity? I will keep my light brother and dark brother in harmony and seek to be the best that I can be. What more could the God of Discipline expect from me?
5. Where do you draw the line at pleasing your deity? What is too much? He is the father of my race and my God. What is too much?

Life & Death :
1. What do you absolutely live for? The continuation of my Bloodline
2. What is the best part of life? Beauty
3. What is the best part of death? Continuing the Cycle
4. If you could choose, how would you want to die? Honourably.
5. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? My honour, my discipline and my family bloodline.
