Theta

" Art should be made from the Heart. "

Appearance

Race: Akvatari
Gender: Female
Age: Twenty-Three
Birthday: 5th, Fall, 490 AV
Birthplace: Abura

Physical Description:

Before she got married to Visespesos, she was described as an anorexic skinny with an awkward build. She had a rather flat chest and light carrot-colored orange hair. Her arms were quite muscular from swimming whenever she could and her hair was often never combed. She was much smaller than the other Akvatari ranging around 4"0' while the others hit growth-spurts. Her tail was sleek and smooth with no flaws and her wings are much like a swallowtail but a bit petit. It made it difficult to fly. The wings had a soft golden color that seem to glow if the sun shone on it. Despite the sun-soaked wings and sweet baby-like face, she had somewhat of a depressing appearance. Her eyelids would be droopy, as if she would fall asleep any moment. Her lips were always curled towards the ground in deep shame or disappointment. Her eyebrows would knit close together, upturned as if she was afraid. Her hazel-green eyes with flecks of yellows and browns would be watery, ready to burst, yet they were hollow. The only thing she found pretty on herself was her long, curled eyelashes. Anyone who laid eyes on her would tend to move away. Theta wouldn't mind, she liked being alone.

After having her daughter, she blossomed into a beautiful flower. She wanted to take care of herself so to set an example for her baby. She wouldn't want to shame her. The extra weight she put on from pregnancy moved into different parts of her body. Her tail was much more blubbery and her body formed nice curves that make her strong arms match. Her bosom boomed about two sizes bigger, secreting sweet milk for her child, also a nice pillow to rest the baby's head on. From hours in the sun, her skin shimmers a nice tan refined from pasty white. Her wing span is as long as her own arms and her tail elongated. Her baby brought a smile to her face, plush pink lips to kiss with. Usually on her spare time she used fine ink and thin-lined pens to stylize different designs on her skin but they would fade away, much like changing tattoos but without the permanent mark.

Character Concept

Personality: Theta is the exactly as her mother named her to be. However, that was during her childhood. As all know, growing up in reality can change a person. The positive traits she owns, in a good mood, would be visual, socially conscious, idealistic, creative, and compassionate to the people she loves. Which would be only her daughter. However she is very withdrawn, distracted, and tends to be moody, but that isn't a surprise.

Theta believes that everything happens for a reason and it should be accepted. Even if it ruins a life, they deserved it for whatever reason. If someone runs up to her crying about how their grandfather died, she would solemnly reply that they did something from the past to deserve it now. Of course she'd add, "Sorry for your loss." She isn't that heartless.

The only things she really loves in this world is her lovely heirloom perfect for sculpting with, and her daughter. Everything else is meaningless. After her daughter died, she results to materialism. Her heirloom is the only thing left in this world that she can stand to hold. She absolutely hates Visespesos, and possibly any race that takes more than one wife. Anyone who shows remote feelings of jealousy will find Theta flopping on her tail towards the door.

Character History

Theta's memory does her good by wiping away any memories she owns before her marriage into the unconscious. Well, that's not exactly true...

She remembers having a sister and a mother. The father was named Leerift (lee-rift) and had multiple wives. Leerift was a striking twenty years old while her mother was twenty-eight. After Theta and her sister, Faunagibetulle (fah-nah-ji-bet-ooli), were born, her mother, Ahwinnowmy (ah-win-oh-mi), became infertile. Leerift lost interest in Ahwinnowmy and continued to make babies to carry down his name. Faunagitbetulle died at a young age from an unknown sickness. It left Theta's mother in tears.

Ahwinnowmy refused to talk, eat, sleep or take care of Theta. This was the beginning of her great dislike for her mother. Theta would poke and prod at her mother, trying to get a response. All she wanted was her love, but the other wives in their home took it the wrong way. The second wife said that Theta was ungrateful and unsympathetic towards her mother during grieving. However, how is a child her age supposed to know such a thing of death? Especially since her mother has been grieving for over three years.

Theta remembers when Leerift had actually interacted with her, but not in the way she had desired. He touched her in ways that left her shaking. Before he left her alone, he whispered haunting words in her ears. "You deserved what you got, and you can't do anything to change it." If Theta tried to report this behavior, nothing would be done. There were few laws in their society and enforcement was weak. She had to deal with this for two weeks. Theta never could remember why he stopped.

Theta moved out of the home with her mother, even though she was old enough to live on her own. She took care of her mother until she became twenty. She never believed she would have met such a handsome young man like Visespesos (vis-ehs-peh-sohs). Visespesos had caught her fancy when they moved in next door. He was sweet, caring, and even wrote her lovely poems to express his fondness for her. She believed that he would be her pair for life.

They married a few months after they met, which was a big mistake. He was a good poet but a possessive character. Theta learned a while ago that her own kind were rarely violent and usually wallowing in their own self-pity, but the words used were rarely. Visespesos never harmed her physically, but emotionally. He had a wife before her, making her the second. When Theta found out this horrific truth, she burst out in fever from the stress.

Theta found him more and more possessive and clingy. She wouldn't be allowed to socialize with other men while with his other wife. She wouldn't be allowed to go outside. Soon enough, she felt as if she were an animal in a cage. He would add more and more rules for her to follow, and Theta got quite sick of it. Before bars were set in her window, she snuck out.

She liked to be outside in the fresh air and often went swimming to calm herself down and relieve her stress. This is when she met him. She met her first lover. A human Vantha with beautiful bronze skin and fluffy dark hair. His name was Coren Winternight. He was only visiting and originated from Avanthal. He decided to skinny-dip that night, which apparently was the only bad thing he ever done. His parents were strict so he never done much but was still a bubbly nice person.

Theta watched him swim and shout gleefully by himself with awe. She hadn't seen a humanoid before, or in a long time. What was he doing in Abura? The moon was high in the sky and she plopped down by the shore of a small lake and started to sketch him. It wasn't a very good drawing but it was cute. He caught her by surprise with his stealth. While her eyes were trained on her sketchbook, he had snuck up behind her and watched over her shoulder. Theta looked up to see if she could add any details but he was gone! He tapped her shoulder and complimented her sketch. That's how they met.

Eventually, they met this way often and it took a while but she fell for him. One night, they made a mistake. It didn't take long to figure out she was pregnant. Coren decided to ask for her hand in marriage, not bothered by the fact she was carrying his child. Theta had to refuse. She told him about her marriage and her husband and Coren looked grim. He choked up as he said he couldn't see her anymore. Coren didn't want to come between her and her husband and it wasn't right. He said that marriage is for life and that she should be faithful. He still cared for her and promised that he would pray to his goddess for her and her baby. Theta isn't sure if he is to this day.

Visespesos was furious to find that Theta was pregnant. He demanded to know who the father was but she never outed the answer. He threatened to have the baby killed since it was a bastard child. Theta, mortified, escaped the household and went back to her mother. Visespesos hasn't bothered her since. The traumatizing event was shocking to Theta. Akvatari weren't meant to act that way. Somehow, he knew where she went.

Visespesos let her go on one more year believing she was safe from him. The very day that changed her life, she went out to find a stone to carve. She left her daughter, Anipsso (ah-nip-soh), and her mother at home. Visespesos had hired someone to sneak to the home and set it on fire. When Theta came home and saw the ruins, she fled. She was confused, agitated, sick, and extremely depressed. Riverfall was her destination, that's where the protective and strong blue men lived.
