Name: Bernedett Ferald
Race: Human
Age: 23 Birthday: Spring Day19 490AV
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 175 Lbs
Home Region: Sylira
Home City: Zeltiva
Appearance: Doc is a fit looking fellow, especially for a magic user. He has long black hair, which he always keeps in a braid, and pale green eyes. His hands are calloused, a sign of a working man. He looks physically fit, and tries his hardest to stay that way. His head has been described as slightly over large, with oddly small ears. He appears more athletic than powerful, as he lacks the rippling muscles of a warrior. However, that is how he prefers it, as it allows him more freedom of movement.

Personality: Doc has always been the curious type. He has always wanted to know more, and try to find out everything. Maybe it was this drive that lead to his interest in magic, and his willingness to go anywhere that knowledge can be found. Even if it means taking insane risks.
Doc is also very interested in other cultures, especially the Akalak. He has always believed that their culture is one of the more interesting ones, especially their view of discipline, which he also incorporates into his own views, making him a very driven person.
He's also a very hyperactive person. He has to be active, or he can't think properly. This may be the reason that some of his best ideas come to him when training, or fighting. This means that if there's a problem, you'll often find him doing laps through town, or at the local park, if that's a viable option.

History: Doc was born in Zeltiva, the son of a healer by the name of Rohan Ferald, and his mother Risa. Rohan had always wanted a son. He had always been envious of his friends who had been blessed with children, and wanted one of his own. His dream came true when Doc was finally born.
As a child, Doc was always curious about everything. He was quite the handful, and never missed a chance to go anywhere. He was always getting into everything, and taking things just for fun. As he got older, this curiosity began to take more constructive forms. Instead of just trying to see and feel new things, he began to study them. If there was something he couldn't explain, he had to figure out how it worked.
At the age of 15, Doc heard stories about magic. Mostly he heard of its danger... and its secrets. He wanted to know its secrets for himself. So, he enrolled in the University, hoping to find a teacher. Finally, he was able to find one, completely by chance.
He was a well known magician who was know to work with Summoning. His name was Fecherin. He never went by a family name, as he felt he had no connection to it anymore, and never took students. He never had time to teach, and would never make time, and only ever hired assistants. Doc seemed to be an acceptation. As Doc worked with Fecherin, they started to get close. The reason for this was unknown, even between themselves. Some think Fecherin started to look at Doc as a kind of son, and wanted to see him succeed. Others think that his loneliness got the better of him, especially after years of having no other friends other than his familiar Crockery, the old, ornery Pascid.
As Docs training began, Fecherin used some unorthodox methods. The very first thing he did was to refer Doc to an Akalak trainer who was passing through town. The trainer would stay only a few seasons, but Fecherin seemed to think it was enough time to get Doc started. Doc began training, learning swordsmanship, and meditation. The swordsmanship was the hardest part, as it required quite a bit of strength on Docs part. Strength that he didn't really have.
While Doc was energetic, but he had never worked on strength, as he had never really needed it before. He began to grow tired. He liked the physical activity, but he lacked the mental stimulation. The meditation didn't help, as his curious mind was given to wander, and Doc refused to teach him anything about Summoning until he was finished training with the Akalak. Obviously this didn't sit well with Doc, and one day he just broke down. He yelled at Fecherin, lamenting about his dissatisfaction, and asking how this training was even relevant to magic.
Fehcrin was oddly calm. He looked at Doc, with a calm expression on his face. He said, with an even tone, "You ask why it's important? You plan to learn Summoning, one of the most, if not the most, dangerous forms of magic. You must be fit, in every sense of the word. Because if your going to summon anything into this world, you had best be strong enough to put it back."
This had an even deeper effect on Doc than if he had been yelled at right back. He left the room, thinking all the while. Everything that Fecherin had said made sense... and Doc could see that now. He had been selfish, and impatient. He continued the training, and slowly began making progress. Soon, near the end of the Akalaks stay, he had a good grasp of swordsmanship, as well as the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Fecherin believed this was enough. He began instructing Doc, and testing his knowledge of the the other worlds, their coordinates, and the summoning circles used to connect with them. Doc learned quickly, but it was quite a while before Fecherin would even allow him to preform even a simple summoning. In fact, it was almost three years before Doc could convince him he was ready.
Docs first summoning was... an interesting experience, to say the least. It was supposed to be a simple rat. No harm there... but Doc got over confident, and tried to impress Facherin by trying to summon a Glassbeak instead. Needless to say, this didn't turn out to well. The beast went wild, and tried to break free, eventually succeeding due to a slightly too thin leash.
It took the combined power of Fecherin, Doc, and Crockery to take it down, but luckily, no one was hurt, thanks to Fecherin insisting that the summon be done out in the wild, and not in the city. Fecherin was irate. He yelled, and shouted for a full ten minutes, saying how stupid it was to try to summon a Glassbeak as a first summon. However, he was surprised that Doc had succeeded at summoning it at all.
Surprisingly, Doc was still allowed to study, and soon he reached a point were he has making some very successful small summons, though he never attempted a Glassbeak again. He was truly getting up in skill. Unfortunately, it was not to last. Fecherin passed away of a heart attack in the year 512.
Doc spent all hi time up until now trying to move on. He had head about the Citadel on Sahova Island, and he has spent most of his time trying to save up the Mizas to travel there, and continue his studies. But for now, he'll have to stay and study at the University in Zeltiva, having been looked over for the battlemage selection on the 80th of last Spring.

I've tried putting a picture up in this, labled under "Housing". I just want to know if anyone not using chrome can see it, because the computer I'm using is having trouble.

edit: I fixed the picture. I was using the wrong URL.

Very sorry. I was worried about this. I had intended for it to be ironic, as his dad had wanted him to be a healer. It will be done. Also, I wasn't fully aware that you specified types of swordsmanship. I will fix this as well. Thank you for bringing these problems to my attention.
