Summer 35th, 507AV
Cerulean Pier

The sky was beginning to turn itself into a brilliant tye-dye of pinks, reds, and oranges smattered with sky tinged clouds hiding a slowly setting sun. Blue fading slowly with time. Winds were soft, and airy, they caressed the piers architecture and gently spread the waters below 'splish' 'splashing'. Calls from the seagulls overhead cryed, fluttering and flittering about in search of food, and hand outs, or some place to land and rest. Even people were out and about, in couplets on dates, hands all a clasping eachother with romantic eyes, and loved filled sighs. It could have been a perfect scene, serene and calm, but to some certain people they might have thought otherwise.

One lone girl sat on the edge of the pier, her feet kicking back and forth, feeling the light ocean spray tickle her toes. A pair of smallish boots sat next to her semi hunched figure, not dirty, but not clean either, there was no refinement to them but they were not in disrepair. The same could have been said for her clothes, one plain skirt, and a plain shirt, with light and long blonde hair, straighter than a ruler, touching the tips of her backside, slightly dishelved. Going around to the front, one would think her pale face was shrouded by eqaully long bangs, hiding one side of her face entirely. As if to shield herself from the rest of the world's eyes, but it was really just to hide bruises and some cuts.

She was an ugly splotch to a beautiful scene, sitting there alone, and for what reason? Escaping her house had been easy enough, the near abandoned home only a remnant and a reminder to events long since passed. Staying out past her curfew, or leaving the house for an extended period of time without her father knowing was better than sitting in a small room without anything to do. Clean? Cook? The house itself was beginning to collect dust, and food was scarce, a day by day buying and eating it when her father was in the mood to cook. His awful cooking usually left Neilles feeling sicker than before, and her own cooking was just as bad. Growls emerged from her bowels, reminding her of how many meals were missed due to a lacking of cooking skill.

Mom just had to die, and Oreia just had to leave without her.. Leaving her with their father. Shoulders would slump dejectedly, feeling slightly ill at the moment, but not enough to force her back to the house. It was bad in her house with all the dust and mold slowly growing, it would have been easier to make the place more liveable if her mother hadn't babyed her so much because of sickness. Neilles might have even learned how to cook, if not for the fear of spreading her germs to the healthy people in the house. Oddly the water looked rather inviting, churning, and swirling. Looking into the blue black depths curling around the piers supports, she contemplated jumping in. Would anyone care? Her father probably wouldn't..

Spoiled Rich Boy (Maduro)

Maduro could smell the romance in the air, there were coos and ahs and hand holding with passion and desire burning in there eyes. It was a great day to be out the reds of the sky melted together forming a delicate tapestry

He was well dressed, leather shoes, elegant dress shirt, and a pair of black pants. One might say look for the silver lining, he himself preferred his silver lined in gold. Lavished and spoiled he wasn't without fault either, coin didn't buy happiness. It didn't get him healthy relationships but coin was found suitable to raise the child of a man whom had no time for his only son. There was resentment and emptiness with his mothers passing, he was left alone in a world without guidance. His only friend Mizah seemed to lead him down a path of debauchery and scandel. Even if his pleasures were seemingly endless they never did really satisfy he was always thirsty always yearning for more but then no matter what he did that hole inside him lingered on.

Everyone thought he was flawless like he had it made nobody understood him, all they wanted was the money or his charm either of which he had plenty. He had a way with getting what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted it.

He was by the docks today because he wanted to get away from it all at least for a little while.

However as he made his way there he noticed a girl splashing her feet in the water. There was something about her that seemed depressing, a lonely loner admist the couples. But she was splashing her feet in the water, it looked like fun. But he was a curious boy, and he wanted to check this out.

As he approached the docks his leather shoe scuffed across the jutting edge of a wood plank. He stood there looming over his shoes with a look of disgust before he used his feet to slide them off. He looked at them some more, he muttered

Filthy

he nudged them off the dock. And those leathers so fine fell with a plopping splash into the salt water where Laviku himself would probably lay claim to them.

Of course maybe he wasn't disgusted by his shoes maybe he just wanted an excuse any excuse to sit beside this girl and splash his feet in the water.

I'm Maduro, and this here is my papas dock. You can stay if you want but I'm gonna play in the water.

He was lying of course.

Pushy, assertive was he trying to be a jerk? Or did he lack the ability to take the possibility of rejection? It was hard to tell, he wanted to hang out. He was crying out for it, but he did not know how to make a friend. He knew how to seduce women but befriend them was an awkward shade of grey he had little experience in.

"Filthy"

The word caught Neilles attention, making her perk up slightly and glance behind just a smidgeon enough to catch sight of a boy. One really rich looking boy. Not that she had any qaulms over that because she was not one to judge someone over their living standard, even though both her, and her father lacked in the cooking depo their clothes were never dirty, not even Neilles' very plain looking clothes hadn't a smudge to their name. Surprisingly enough with Gerron's drinking habit and addiction, they lived nicely, comfortably, or as comfortable as life could get with the ever looming possibility of sheer drunken anger and her own isolation. She could only imagine what it must have been like in the other side of the city, East Street.

He started to move towards her, making Neilles turn away to look panickedly in the water, had he called her filthy? Nervously she began to play with her hair, smoothing it in small chunks with her palm in front of her, gripping, and squeezing it. To her she didn't look unclean, but she patted and smoothed out her skirt just in case.

Perhaps if she hadn't been so preoccupyed with her self image, maybe she would have been able to lash out for the boys shoes. Perfectly good shoes falling into the water, she just couldn't believe he had just let such fine things fall into the water.. The freakish disbelief must have shown on her face, eyes wide at the churning sea. "Y-yo-your sh-shoes.." she managed to gasp out, attention snapping up to his face. Lingering for a few moments before turning away again. Even more confused than before; this.. this is the Cerulean Pier.. not a dock.. But..but..if the dock were private then why would all these people be on it? Wouldn't they find a different dock of sorts.. I don't get it.. Confused.. Confused.. So confused..

An awkwardly and rather uncomfortable silence wrapped around the two, Neilles didn't know how to respond to a boy that seemed to be around her age, she could only hope that maybe.. Just maybe her father wouldn't catch her talking to one either, he didn't seem to like boys.. Her throat seemed to close, words sputtered out as she attempted to respond but found that even if Maduro could decipher what she was saying, Neilles didn't know what she was trying to say, herself.

Fingers played with her hair even more nervously.

Spoiled Rich Boy (Maduro)

The girl fidgeted with her hair, she seemed tense around him and he couldn't figure out why. Until she turned around gasping in some look of utter disbelief as his shoes splashed into the water. He didn't understand why she was so wond up, it was strange to him and he did not know what to make of it. She was acting shy, embarrassed, hesitant she couldn't even pipe up and speak to him. But there was a startling revelation when she turned If only briefly he glimpsed it, and the image of what he saw etched itself in his mind. A mixture of black and blue with hues of red and pink, he knew what getting punched was like. He had a notorious habit of finding himself in some sticky situations due to his chosen field of study.

There was something in him that clicked, from this engulfed self absorbed ego into a nurturing warmth. While the silence indeed was awkward it gave him time to collect himself and rethink his priority.

He took a seat next to her at the pier, and started splashing his feet gently in the water.

Stuff like that nobody wanted to be forced to talk about it.

I'm sorry if I was mean, I'm Maduro...

She was a quiet one, it was time to break her of this habit. The best approach to attack the problem with a one sided conversation about himself, push the girl in a silly way to say something back.

Now I know what your thinking and it's ok I get that alot, I know I'm hot there's nothing to be ashamed of in admitting how you feel about me. And yes it's ok if you look at me, you can gaze into my blue eyes and swoon if you must.

Oh yea check it out.

He curled his bicep, releasing his monstrous little bump.

I did like a thousand squat thrusts today, go ahead you can touch it if you want.

It could have sounded arrogant or obnoxious but it was all about presentation, it was in his face and body language to the tone of his voice. He was being silly, and making it obvious for her to read so that she may open up a little. His intention was to charm her into forgetting about her problem, sometimes the best comfort was laughter and a good time even at his own expense. And while he did a surprisingly good job at pretending to be stupid he was anything but.

Oh yea I notice you've been playing with your hair, I think you have beautiful hair.

I have a comb if you want me to brush it.

Don't be cruel to me, say yes

Spoiled Rich Boy (Maduro)

Well this was an interesting change of events, the shy girl was being spoken to by an extremely good looking, young man, that was trying to make her laugh. Yet she stayed silent, peeking at him through the blonde strands repeatedly and trying to figure out what to do or say. "Neilles" she replied, to him giving a full name, a nervous squeek to her voice. He was rather engaging, and hard to ignore, overly confident and extremely self centered.. It was any wonder that Neilles hadn't jumped into the water yet. If it hadn't of been for a fear of it, she would have.

He apparently knew what she was thinking.. If he did, then why hadn't he stopped? She hadn't thought.. Or, well she had, but she hadn't dwelled on it long enough for the brief thought to be relevent, or make any signifigant impact.

He does has pretty blue eyes.. too.. She peeped from behind her hair, just as he would mention, flicking them away embarresed. No. No. This was odd, and strange, there absolutely no reason to be talking to her, she was certain that he would have more fun talking to a more social girl. Neilles looked again just as he flexed his arms, and for whatever reason, she couldn't decide.. It had been a funny move. There was a quick giggle, awkward in its nature, and foreign, she covered her mouth with a hand as if she had done something bad. Staring at him. Panicked.

The panicked feeling became worse when he asked to brush her hair, no one touched her hair but herself, and here he was asking her to say yes.. Neilles didn't want to be 'cruel' or rejective, but absolutely no one was allowed to mess with her hair. It was the only thing that hid the small scar near her ear, and the black eye..

All hidden safely by white-blonde hair. "N-n-no.." She shook her head quickly in 'no' towards his question, she wasn't even suppose to be engaging him in the first place either, her eyes glanced behind her, fear, a paranoia that her father would come limping up to them with anger in his heart, and mal-intent for the boy. Maduro would be skewered if he was caught, or so Neilles feared that kind of reaction.. She hadn't given a last name for a reason, because everyone who had lived in Zeltiva knew who her father was. The drunk who couldn't even take care of his wife or children properly; but what came with a sheltered life, was not wholly a curse.

Spoiled Rich Boy (Maduro)

There was something in him that stirred at Neilles mousy demeanor, she was awfully shy and he found her inability to express herself more openly for lack of better words cute. His playful nature seemed to be working, the mere thought of Maduro brushing her hair seemed to make her finicky but at least her mind wandered off her real problems. Though he would never admit this, he was a little crushed.

The way she looked down and hid behind her veil of hair enticed him more to play.

Her meekness only persuaded his boldness to act out.

When she turned her head Maduro wondered he paused thought about it weighed the consequences and went for it. He was a doer, and what he did was twist around shifting his weight to his hands as he to spiral around to sprawl himself out back first but with an added bonus. The back of his head would flop into her lap now should this have happened it could go two ways. One she might send him to Laviku or two simply enjoy the moment but he had a feeling it was going to be more number one than two but trial and error live and learn really.

Well if you won't let me brush you hair will you brush mine, Neilles?

And why are you so scared of me? Do you think I'm ugly?

You do don't you, you don't like me?

Your so mean to me

He simply stared upwards, nestling himself in and getting himself cozy. He wanted to guilt her into letting him stay there if she had not already dropped him off the pier. And of course he wanted to see if she'd brush his hair, after all the salty breezes left him disheveled.

He'd pull his comb out depending on the reaction, or prepared himself for the chill of the water.

He was afraid but he wouldn't show it, braveness in the face of peril
