Day 83 of Spring, year 513
The sun was just starting to peek over the tree tops, as if asking for permission as The trees stood standing guard of a clearing just behind them, the grass swaying as if brushed by an invisible hand. Her legs didn't take all to long before she was in the middle of the small clearing. Her rucksack fell to the ground from her shoulder with a thump before she cast a glance around, checking for her own solitude. Crona hated training with other people around, whether she was nervous or just hated being watched she didn't know. Her hand found the hilt of her concealed daggers before pulling them out and apart. She closed her eyes, letting her imagination run wild, looking in every nook and cranny for every source of inspiration. Hazel eyes opened slowly, and what was once calm and cheerful irises shown with a raging determination that she had kept deep in her consciousness, storing it for moments like the one she was in at that moment. Shadows of imaginary enemies surrounded her by the hundreds, holding their own weapons, some held blades such as hers while others consisted of mallets or simple fists. A crooked smirk slid over her face like an avalanche and she raised an armed hand in front of her while the other rested in a position behind her. She stared down at the first shadow enemy, who was armed with a sword and shield, with a glare that could kill before launching the first attack. She jumped up as the shadow ran forward with a lunge of its sword, the blade just barely missing her leg. She landed swiftly behind him and kicked the back of its knee so it stumbled before thrusting up onto its back and slitting its throat from behind. It fell with a thump before she moved onto the next. Each swipe or thrust of a dagger brought her closer to the last of them. Each shadow bowing in defeat in a pool of blood, before dissolving into the air and back into her imagination. She was soon left with the last one. It towered over her as if she was a small child and laughed in her face. Her eyes narrowed dangerously. I must defeat all of them for my father to be proud. She ran into the shadow's reach, dodging all of the fists and swings of a giant axe to the best of her ability. The shadow clutched the handle of the axe and reared it back over his head for the final blow and Crona lunged as she saw an opening. The axe was coming down fast and she panicked for a mere second before she thrust her blade to the side and into a tree to pull herself out of harms way. Just as The shadows axe his the ground she pulled the dagger free of the trunk and thrust both of the blades into the shadows gut, hitting the vital organs. The giant felt to one knee and bowed its head to her in defeat, as if crowning her the stronger warrior. She bowed back to him out of respect, letting him know he was a worthy opponent before he faded from view and her mind fell back to reality. She looked around as if coming out of a season long dream before taking in the damage. There was a slit in the tree she had dug her blade into and there was a throbbing pain in her shoulder where a tree branch had nicked her. He sheathed her weapons and headed back to her bag. Crona dug a hand in the sack and pulled out a small capsule of ointment and a roll of gauze before settling herself under the shade of a tree. She opened the lid of the medicine and dipped a finger in, before smearing it on the wound. After, she wrapped the gauze around the shoulders, under her arm and then around her neck to keep it in place. She returned the objects to the bag after she was all patched up and leaned against the trunk of the tree, replaying the last battle in her mind over and over, thinking of all the different ways she could have ended its life. It had been around 4 bells later tat she got home from her training and fell onto her bed, letting her body sink into the fabric of her blanket. She didn't bother to cover herself up before dozing off into slumber, a dream awaiting her arrival. |
