Jaris Jadeclaw of the Emerald Clan Race: Drykas Gender: Male Age: 23 Birthday: 25, Winter, 489. Birthplace: Endrykas Character Concept The young Drykas is a diligent and hard working member of his pavilion, holding the culture and lifestyle close to his heart. Comfortable at most when he's in the midst of his animals or out trying to hunt with the aid of his jaguar, Korali, and his Strider, Desdin. Jaris strives to expand the Jadeclaw Pavilion, increasing their flocks and herds. By learning how each creature works, how to make them happiest, and creating the best environment better, the young man wishes to learn all he can about the nuances that exist in dealing with animals. When it comes to humans and otherwise, it's a different story. It's not that he doesn't like them. Quite the contrary, he enjoys being around people quite a lot. The time his profession requires requires of him leaves him minimal opportunity to spend time around people outside of his pavilion. He's friendly and mostly approachable, unless his animals are in danger or are being harassed. In dealing with the opposite sex, he's about as lost as could be. The marriage edict of Spring, 513 AV has put a lot of pressure on his family to find a suitable mate for Jaris. It's been unsuccessful to this point, the young man failing to make a good impression on any potential wives or their families. Animals Name: Korali Type: Jaguar Gender: Female Born: 47 Spring, 510 AV (3 years old) Weight: 143 pounds Length: 5 foot 5 inches Height: 27 inches at shoulders Info: Korali is Jaris' constant companion. Purchased as a cub, this goofy predator has grown nearly as close to him as his Strider. Korali is absolutely and unequivocally lazy when it isn't time to hunt, train, or play. The cat sleeps wherever she can, often times trying to climb up into the young Drykas man's supply cart when travelling as to not burden herself with the annoyance of walking. She regards most everyone else with complete disinterest, listening, when she feels like it, to what Jaris has to say. When it comes time to hunt, on the other hand, excitement overtakes the spotted cat. While the two are still learning to work together, the powerful creature enjoys it best when Jaris is able to stir up and herd a meal towards her so she can hide in the grass and strike. Name: Desdin Gender: Male Born: 57 Summer, 506 AV (7 years old) Type: Cyphrus Strider Weight: 1100lbs Height: 16hh Info: Desdin is Jaris' bonded strider, and gods is he a handful. If ever a horse was vain, it was Desdin. He had to approached from the front. It was required better to bring the gift of a carrot or an apple if deciding to actually deal with this Strider. And if his mane got too long? He'll lay down and won't move until it's been trimmed, but it can only be done in the way Desdin wishes. The horse was unruly, and that's why it was quite a surprise when it bonded to the mild mannered Jaris. All attitude which it gives to others is not found when dealing with his rider. Except when it comes to his mane, of course. They bonded in Fall of 508 AV. There was nothing particularly special about their companionship with the exception of the magic which comes with all bondings. Jaris had accompanied his father to sell some of their hunting cats, and the pavilion which was to purchase them happened to specialize in the breeding of striders. When they arrived, rather than selling it for coin and goods, they ended up with Desdin, instead. The horse was a constant nuisance to its previous owners, but walked up to Jaris and plopped to the ground beside him, looking at him expectantly. That was the beginning of the end, or so they say. Name: Rizo Gender: Male Born: 77 Winter, 506 AV (6 years old) Type: Mixed Blood Weight: 1020 lbs Height: 15,2 hh Info: Rizo was gifted to Jaris by his father when he began to care for his own animals. Rizo is a mild mannered horse who is quite content doing his job pulling a cart full of supplies. The mixed blood horse isn't particularly fond of Korali, but tolerates it...as long as Jaris is around. Name: Sathy Type: Cow Gender: Female Born: 61 Winter, 510 (2 years old) Weight: 700lbs Info: Sathy is a mild mannered cow who's future is in providing milk. Purchased as a calf and raised to adulthood, the cow had caused nearly no problems for the young Drykas. She won't cooperate at all if Korali is in the immediate vicinity. As she is just reaching age for pregnancy, Jaris is looking to find a bull for her to mate with.
