13th Day of Summer in the Year 513 A.V. - East Street The once handsome Crowe, was now more gaunt and hollow. Truly now he resembled the scarecrow his old master had always jested at. His face was pale and his body still weak from the sickness. Though affected and still recovering, he counted himself lucky to have survived and weathered the winter in Zeltiva. But his funds were running low, and the man needed work badly. He slunk his way down the cobbled street towards the World’s End Grotto, not looking forward to the disdainful glare of the innkeeper whom would stare and grimace in his direction. Though Ken had ben able to pay his tab the innkeeper was not fond of deadbeats and had been paying very close attention to Crowe’s crusade to find employment. His steps were uneven, not because of the darkness. If there was someone in Zeltiva that was not hindered by the darkness, it was Kenneric Crowe. But the plague had left his very bones aching. And the cobbles were not easy on his ankles. He had even contemplated selling his good clothes, but he had not reached that point of desperation. Yet. The lamplight had done his job and Kenneric’s face shifted from pale white to cloaked in the blackest of shadows that come at the edge of bright lights. Funny how the darkest shadows were always in contrast to the brightest lights. Crowe had always dewlt more in the dark than the light, but yearned for a bit of both really. He sighed heavily as the cryptographer continued his walk. |
