16th day of Summer, 513 AV Unfriendly was a word that suited Nyka very well. Especially for one who didn't born within the wall of the Celestial City. Where ever she turn around, pale people smirk at her with dislike. Mainly they choose to ignore her and she was grateful they didn't seems to begrudge her. However she realize sooner or later the condition wouldn't benefit her much. For now she just enjoying solitude on her own. She pull her red shawl over her head and strode across the shades of Safe Haven, where she would stay for the entire season. It wasn't luxurious but it comfortable enough for her. Her bright green eyes stared awhile at the onlookers. Nykans tend to wear colorful outfit in contrast to their stark and palid appearance, a similarity that Zenab also posessed. She wore her sleeveless red tunic and her shawl with the same color. Being made by skillful hands of Yahebah, Zenab proud of its quality. Moreover, its felt like a little bit home. A few things that wouldn't walk away from her. She walked over the crowded city in a swift pace. Passing through sea of cold and solid faces. She simply started to adapt the lukewarm summer without piercing heat waves and solar ray that stormed Eyktol. But she miss the forever changing sand dunes that was her playground when she was younger. Ah, it's not a time to drowned by nostalgic echo of distant past, she has things to get done this day. Het clothes was worn out of traveling and weather, she need to replace them immediately. Nyka wasn't a kind city for foreigners, thus she didn't know if there was anyone around there that would sell her a clothes or two. Zenab couldn't help but wondering what's wrong with the denizens. Yahebah always open handed for anyone, and unless one did something really bad, they wouldn't be treated bad. Zenab walked through the Celestial Square for chimes before she was stumbling upon a great amount of people gathered at the street. It take much time for her to realize that she was right at the place where people usually get to sell and buy things. The Fourth Day Market. And she was surprisingly speechless. First of all it lack of the joy and passion and... everything that a normal market would have! Where was the shouts of the merchants that seduced people to came? Where was the waves of laughter from people when bargaining? Where was the giggle of the toddlers that longed for sweets? At every direction she just came at a fierce sellers who glared at a serious buyers that handed down some coins or checking items. And all of the trade process was barely take a chime! Ha! Now she felt sorry for Nykans, they just people that didn't enjoy their days, seasons, and years. That explains why they bore that bitter expression upon encountering foreigners. Because they know we were enjoying life much more than they do! Cheered a bit by the innocent thought, she move as swift as desert breeze among the crowd. She wasn't tall, here and there she found many towering figures blocked her way and kept her sight from the sale. The crowd didn't give her much space to move freely but her agile build help her avoiding commotion with grumpy Nykans. She started to look after cloth merchant. Since Nykans like to wear colorful clothes, it didn't hard to find one. The harder part was to look for some garments that suit her taste. And that seems to became harder when she did it under the seller sharp eye. The man standing at the elaborate semi permanent tent store could easily mistaken as a guard. Broad shoulders, big arms, and scars, no one would think that he was actually the owner. She always picky to choose anything, but she couldn't think that she could bargain with those fierce looking seller. Indeed it might be wise enough to keep her mouth shut for this little trip. She picked up an dark blue tunic with silvery decoration. No way. She need daily clothes, it way too glamorous for her. The other white one was cute, but she didn't think it would match her tan. She was began to enjoy her time when unexpected piercing comment strike her directly. "Are you buying or not? I don't have time to spend on a buckless beggar you know." She smiled in reply. It was useless to argue. May be she was passing the Nykan standards of patiency? It was no more than three chimes since she enter the tent. But still, she need the clothes. Zenab pointed at the white and orange one. It just plain tunic like the one she wear. "That would do." The trade was quick and Zenab didn't even bother to turn back for second time. Well, let it be a lesson for the next. She still need to bought garments and few other goods. It would be a long day ahead. |
