Birthplace: Syliras Appearance: Ah descriptions, how does one best describe and actor of many faces. Matheld is a rather common looking man who enters ones notice only to slip back into the crowd, his features plain and he himself being of only average height at 5'9. He possesses a rather lanky build and his muscles are generally undefined as far as things go. His blonde hair is cut short and kept neat and tidy. His eyes are a cool shade of blue that are the only thing that speak of his cunning nature. Character Concept To define such a man as Matheld is difficult because almost everything about him is a façade. His personality of open acceptance in false, what he shares about his past is false, even his face is sometimes false. The only thing true about him is the obsession and love he possesses for the city of Syliras itself. He fully buys into the idea of spreading order to the world and that Syliras is a beacon of truth and peace, more than that it has become one with his very being. He has long since lost his sense of identity, slipping further into his obsession of wanting to see his home safe. The only living person who remembers what he used to be is his younger sister, she remembers the brother Matthew. Matheld loves his sister and respects the knights with a great fervor. The man is something of a contradiction himself as he possesses a dislike for other wizards, believing them to be potential threats to his beloved Syliras. He is also rather racist, suspicious of non human on principle. Character History Matheld was originally born Matthew Alton to his mother, Sophia Alton, and his father, Reiner Alton. He preceded his younger sister Lea Alton by two years who quickly became the early focus of his protective nature. His father was a well to do merchant who was not incredibly wealthy but well off enough to afford his children a good education. Young Matthew grew up a happy and normal child of Syliras, an observer and a thinker by his very nature. His sister was more interested in ideals and the stories of the great knights of Syliras. She would constantly practice with wooden weapons, whenever she was bullied though Matthew was there to pick her back up and tell her strive to her dream. Lea didn't know about his constant blackmailing, his searching for information to use against her tormenters. Even then it was apparent that he had something of a dark side. As Matthew grew older he started growing curious about his father's business and towards more exotic reads. So his father would arrange through his contacts to find him books, whatever books his clever child desired. Everything changed for Matthew when magic came into his life, a change that would shape Matthew into Matheld. It was a simple looking leather bound tome, wedged between a couple of books on mathematics. The secrets within were decidedly not simple. They warped his life and sent him down a darker path of study, one that involved the art of morphing. Eventually, thanks to research he grew confident enough to try to begin to self teach it. In his arrogance Matthew was lost, coming to eventually lose his sense of identity. From the beginning of his adult years on, he practiced taking on other shapes and forms, losing his sense of self further. The deaths of his parents hit him hard, his father taken by sickness first and his mother by a weak heart. So his obsession grew, much like his sisters desire except darker. He wanted the city he loved to be safe for the people, so he began to turn his mind to protecting his beloved Syliras as best he could. He knew he was no knight like his sister but he possessed knowledge and intelligence in his repertoire. So began his quest, to protect the small bits of the city he could.
