Shinzu Kaesar

Postby Shinzu Kaesar on July 6th, 2013, 4:02 am

Character Name: Shinzu Kaesar

Appearance:
Standing at about 5’8” in height, the raven-haired Shinzu has the toned body of a young warrior, although few ever notice that under the guise of his loose-fitting clothing. His features were not handsome but could be considered fair, with sharp angled cheekbones, full lips, and eyes almost as dark as his hair. His face was almost always set in a mischievous grin, bringing out the presence of a dimple on his left cheek. His skin is tanned golden-brown from years of travelling, and his face still showed faint signs of pimples, an indication of his recent entrance from youth into adulthood. The only disfigurement was a jagged scar on the left side of his chest, right above the heart.

Character History

Shinzu Kaesar was raised in Syliras as the son of Ryou Kaesar, a merchant of some influence. However, when he was 6 years old, his family had planned to immigrate from Syliras to Ravok in order to open new trade route for their business. On the way there, their merchant crew was ambushed by slave raiders in the Wildlands. Everyone in his family had either been killed or enslaved save Shinzu, for he was saved just in the nick of time by a man who called himself Kyoushi.
Kyoushi had saved Shinzu from the hands of the raiders. Even so, Shinzu had suffered a severe sword wound that nearly pierced his heart. He lay delirious for days whilst Kyoushi endeavoured to save him through a combination of magic and medicine. After seven days and nights, Shinzu was finally rescued from death’s door, albeit the entire incident was heavily imprinted into his subconscious.
Shinzu was extremely distraught upon awaking and realizing that he had lost his entire family. He hated Kyoushi with misplaced vehemence for saving his life. However, Kyoushi did not abandon him despite such animosity and instead helped nurse him back to full recovery. Eventually Shinzu realized the error of his ways, and vowed to serve Kyoushi for the rest of his life to repay Kyoushi’s kindness.

Shinzu had travelled with Master Kyoushi through many different cities and endured the harshness of the Wildlands. The two’s relationship gradually evolved over the next couple of years from that of a master and his servant to that of a mentor and his protégé. Kyoushi, who was a formidable fighter and a talented medicine man, soon saw Shinzu’s potential in both these areas and taught him well in the arts of unarmed combat and healing, as well as odd bits of different languages for their nomadic lifestyle.

Despite all their time together, Master Kyoushi was reticent about his past. No matter how Shinzu tried to coax his master about revealing his past, Master Kyoushi never said a word. A few days after Shinzu’s 18th birthday, Shinzu had woken up to find Master Kyoushi gone. All he had left behind was a small book and a set of iron prayer beads. Inscribed in the book, with Master Kyoushi’s own handwriting was a few small phrases.
“You are now a full grown adult and it is now time for you to seek out your own fortune. All I can leave for you is this book, which I am sure you will be able to understand better than I ever will. Do not look for me. Farewell.”

The book was one hand-written by Master Kyoushi himself, in a hybrid combination of both Tukant and Pavi languages. It expounded on the use of a brand of magic known as the Flux with applications to a style of Martial Arts known as Dim Mak. This was Master Kyoushi’s parting gift for him; one of the few secret teachings of a martial order.
