Aur Gold

Postby Aur Gold on July 7th, 2013, 11:44 am

PC's Name: Aur Gold (goes by Anne)

Physical Information:
Race: Pycon
Birthday & Age: Autumn 22, 493AV, 19
Gender: Female

Physical Description: 9", crazed red colour like alabaster or terra cotta; poor, old rock features - deep sunken in eyes, low cheekbones, cracked lips, fissured ribs, hair in a big bun with fingernail scratches allover, but real small, frail lapidarian body.

Character Concept: A faithless seeker of Harameus, who is terrified of change but seeks it; a gentle statue, who bleeds for the poor and weak.

Personality: Anxious, shuddering; she contemplates her own existential despair, which haunts her constantly. She knows that she has not found her true form, and so any form she takes, any identity she feels connected to, she knows must be robbed from her, and so she lives in perpetual despair and dread, unwilling to make connections, unwilling to know herself. And she acknowledges that, like all Pycon, she only seeks her true form so that with it she may turn to stone; and how can there be any meaning to that, and truth to that true form?

But she, who has eyes that point starwards, with a mind of starry fire, will not resign to stony nihilism; she wanders to encounter herself, to come to terms with her own existence, of her sickness unto death, and learn to lust after the change she so despairs! In these cracked landscapes and dangerous roads she seeks that moment of gnosis with Harameus.

Living four years in the mob districts of Sunberth, she picked up some habits; alcohol, wine and herbs, and too much tobacco, old nepenthe that soothes her anxiety, that helps her forget her quest for meaning. In Sunberth she was so deeply affected by the struggles and the stories of the poor, of the mob, of those lumpenproletariat cutthroats, and why they came to be that way; her bleeding heart bleeds for them. She joined the front-lines of their riots, against the syndicates, against outsiders. Seeing hierarchal society as a danger, she believes deeply in revolution, in freedom, in autonomy!

Herself, she lives like a pig. She drinks herself stone drunk at nights and howls at the moon; she sleeps in the streets, and she yells at passers by 'bourgeois! Why do you not join the fighting?' She has no concept of money, sober or drunk; if she has it, she gives it away, if she doesn't have it she borrows it with no intention of giving it back.

And she will sit, behind groves or in alleys, or under the deep stars half-asleep and fat with wine, and she will think of phantasmagoric Harameus, and of herself, and her form; and all will feel complete, and she so very small, and she will drift happy into dream.

Ethics: living a good part of her life in Sunberth, she does not care of murder or thievery; to her, it is the scrambling reactions of the oppressed against the culture of violence, the world of violence that surrounds them. She hates the Sylira Knights, dismissing them as reactionaries; 'Who would return to that old world?' she would say, 'Before the Valterrian. They forget how many of us were slaves, or how many trapped in bottles.' She believes only in a total overthrow or rejection of power; but she left Sunberth to escape these violent thoughts, to encounter herself and find Harameus; she will slip into her violent, revolutionarily ways when she is drinking, however, and when she does she exposes herself. A disgusting romantic, a global pervert, who believes the oppressed can shake off their oppressors in one orgasmic moment, of violence and solidarity; the grotesque romantic! And while she is sober she is gentle and kind, when she drinks she is damning, illegible and violent! A lithic anarchist, a hopeless idealist.

She is a misandrist, with immense suspicion of men. She usually will not discuss why, but if pushed will refer to a 'tragedy' on the way to Sunberth; it is this tragedy that filled her with dread of change, as she sees it as the first change, which sunk her eyes and cracked her alabaster flesh. She is hostile towards men, she will not grow close to them, avoids being around them and outright refuses to be alone with them. While she feels totally asexual, she can slip easily and deeply into love with other women, very quickly.

Likes: alcohol, friends, the poor, upheaval
Dislikes: anxiety, personal change, men

Character History:

Pre-Creation: raised on a Pyve to a family of farmers, one of the first in the settlement, she learned to plant crops and harvest, and how to use a Py-Pole to defend herself. Her parents were deeply orthodox Formless, and her mother bore a gnosis mark of Harameus. As a child, she would desperately try to look for the signs of that alchemist god, but could never see them; her mother told her she needed faith, and she'd have to grapple with that as she got older. Those words profoundly affected her, and since then she has always sought Harameus physically, throwing herself totally into the deep belly of the new world; 'revelation from the spleen!' she says.

Hearing of the situation in Sunberth, she headed there to aid the poor against the Syndicates that were getting too powerful, in one of their many riots; on the way there she met some alchemists, who she deeply admired, who taught her about some rudimentary theories. They named her Aur Gold, because of her fear of death, and she went by that name. When she was in Sunberth, her drinking-partners, not so eloquent of the tongue - but of the heart - as those alchemists, called her Anne, unable to pronounce Aur. So she became Anne, the statue at the riots. It was on the way to that brilliant city, too, she encountered the tragedy she speaks of; whatever it was that happened to her, it buried her trust in men. She will say now, 'What I saw in Sunberth just pads down the grave.'

Finding, eventually, her fighting in Sunberth to be too confining, too severe, too routine, her anxieties rose to panic, and she was chased out by her angst. The anarchists she stayed with in Sunberth secured her a cottage in the floating city, so she headed for Ravok, to which she now arrives; that mysterious island city of priestly men, of great safety, where she may encounter herself and Harameus - though, it may not be as serene a place as she images on arrival.
