Tingiyok Mason

Appearance

Race: Kelvic (Large flying fox, Pteropus vampyrus)
Gender: Female
Age: Six years (Appears 19 in human form, looks age roughly 3 years per year)
Birthday: Summer 30th, 507 AV
Birthplace: Nyka

Appearance: Ting, being a flying fox and the largest subspecies of any fruit bat, will naturally have a good wingspan. It measures 5'7 from wingtip to wingtip. She weighs three-quarters of a pound and is roughly two and a half feet from nose to tail. She has dark, silky fur which could resemble a Zith's, but a much thicker coat. An orange ruff around her neck contrasts with the previously mentioned fur. Large, brown eyes stand out, facing forwards on her fox-like head.

In Ting's human form, which is used much more than her bat form to keep her Kelvic nature concealed, she has brown hair that reaches the tips of her ears. The girl stands out with pale skin and dark eyes. In a full coat and her face without a smile, she could almost pass for a boy with the exception of her voice. It's not quite neutral enough to be androgynous, which she is pleased with. It leans towards the higher side of the scale, a tenor. Her voice is void of any accent. She's only five feet tall and weighs 110lbs. Ting's build is a tad thinner than average, and isn't well endowed She has nice cheek and collarbones, delicate ones that add to her femininity when she wears a shirt with the first few buttons undone.

She takes great pains to not smile and show her long canines, only turning up the corners of her mouth. Ting is most often seen wearing a long coat, shirt, trousers and slippers. She walks with confidence and pride, her stride even and purposeful. When she happens to meet someone, she gives them a hard look. Although shorter than the average human, she acts as if she's bigger than them all, rarely standing down.

Character Concept

Ting is a stubborn, blunt girl. Her front is a harsh attitude. She'll haggle to save every last coin she can, refusing to back down. Her height could be described as cute coupled with her baby-ish face, but her fierce countenance says otherwise. She will hold onto secrets, especially her Kelvic nature, ensuring that not a soul knows. Only when she is safely out of the city will she change into a bat, and even then she takes precautions. When she does leave the city on one of her 'long walks,' Ting is almost overly careful. Occasionally she will talk to strangers. She keeps well away from the KRI, and triple-checks to make sure she's dressed properly before she goes out for the day. Ting's animal form is nocturnal, which makes it harder for her to blend into human society, but she's adapted and is diurnal with the occasional nighttime flight. She retreats to her home as soon as the sun starts setting, the nightvision in her eyes not prominent in human form but still setting off people's weirdness detectors.

Character History

Originally from Nyka, Tingiyok was born to a Kelvic mother and a human father. The mother died from giving birth to Ting, and the father lost himself in grief. He told his child stories of Ravok, purposefully leaving out the part where Kelvics were sold as slaves. He saw easily that she was Kelvic, from how fast she grew. Aging three times as fast as the average human child, Ting spoke Common fluently at three years. They began to run low on mizas, so her father decided to take her to the city of his birth. He knew she was a bat Kelvic, seeing her shift. He planned to sell her as a slave, or possibly to the KRI for research. Ting's father was too enveloped in his sadness over his lost wife to actually love his daughter, so the choice was easy.

Unfortunately the caravan was attacked, Ting and an Isur male the only survivors by cowardice. The Isur ran back in the direction of Nyka, Ting escaping to Ravok. The Isur had told her tales of Ravok as well, but mostly about Kelvics being treated as slaves. She passes herself off as a nineteen year-old human, having arrived at the city in 512 AV, after the Djed storm. She knows she'll have to leave soon, or be caught by the Ebonstryfe or some other faction and be sold as a slave.
