He could have known. It had been foolish to assume that someone with such a lack of manners had mastered the wonders of a name, when all previous evidence pointed against them possessing any wisdom. A bad habit picked up from spending too much time with the larger races was a logical explanation, for both his immediate use of a name and his general lack of manners.
But that meant that there wasn't anything new to learn anymore from this conversation. So why suffer through more of it? Better to just try to politely end it. Some comfort, some tips, and then get out of here.
"Don't worry about it too much," Hornet reassured the pig merchant, "just spent some time in the Pyve and you'll pick up proper habits in no time. I'm not entirely sure about how to get to live there, though. The best place to start with that would probably be the Housing and Labor Aid Office. You know, the place where you can get a job? They know everything about getting a suitable home. I'm surprised they didn't sent you to the Pyve immediately."
Hornet didn't really look forward to this character taking up residence there, but now that he had resolved to be polite, he couldn't really avoid it after his previous remark about not seeing the Pycon at the Pyve. Oh well, he would worry about that later. For now, it was time to get out of this conversation.
"Anyway, feel free to call me however you want. I'm generally known as Hornet, but that name is so unsuitable I prefer to receive nicknames." If he had wanted to be mean, he would have crossed the road and extended his mud smeared hand, using the habits the other had picked up to put him in a nasty situation. But that wasn't his intention anymore. With a simple "I guess I'll see you in the Pyve soon," he turned to leave.
