Kenash's amazing lantern lit theatre.

This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

On a secluded inlet upon Oath Island lies the Illumination Theatre. Most days the old wooden and stone structure looks practically abandoned, pieces of shingle hanging by mere threads to the structure, dust clouds welling up around the dry yellow grasses that spring up out of the foundation. Any new comer to Kenash might even assume the place was abandoned.

Nothing could be farther from the truth, as one will find as soon as the sun sets over the waters of the city. Lanterns are strung from the eaves, creating a warm, but mysterious glow about the theatre and within is just as luxurious and expansive as the outside seems dreary and unkempt. Slaves at the door take one's jackets, hats, and tickets, and ushers take you to your seat, made of plush crimson velvet to wait in comfort before the show. Alcoholic beverages and light hour de voures are provided to all, and slowly the in house lights dim before the scarlet curtain is raised and show begins.

Lanaya, the sickly looking Symenestra who hand weaves many of the costumes, and directs all of the shows, never fails to give her audience precisely what they have come for. She books acts from all over Mizahar, from Eypharian fire jugglers to Jamouran acrobats, and Svefra jugglers, not to mention the actors that grace her stage from as far away as Avanthal to entice and intrigue their watchers. Her shows always tend toward the dramatic, and most of her plays open with short performance to whet her audience's appetite.

The cost is high to get into a show, even more costly if one wishes to occupy the famed balcony seats which give the watcher a bird's eye view of the whole proceedings, but The Illumination Theatre has never failed to please all those who enter through the creaky old oak doors, Lanaya sees to that.

Additional Info:

Lanaya is a dark, yet creative soul who has found her passion in the art of theatre. Creating her own self-written plays, she also canvases a host of exquisite and exotic performances for her Theatre throughout the years in order to draw the interests of Dynasty members. Her shows are said to be provocative, thought invoking, horrendously depressing, and wonderfully uplifting all in the stroke of a bell. It costs a pretty miza to get oneself a ticket, but no one has ever complained of the price after seeing one of her shows.

Goods or Services
One can purchase a season's pass to the shows. Three days a week the theatre puts on its official shows, and almost every night it is open for shows, though many are re-runs from previous seasons. A Season's pass costs 300 GM.

It costs 25 - 75 GM for a ticket into a show, depending on where you wish to sit. It only costs 5 GM during the evenings on non show days, which usually entails more base entertainment, and more local performers trying to get a leg up in the acting world through Lanaya's business.
