Naomi frowned as she looked at the map of the city on her way in. She had trouble reading some of the longer words on it, but finally decided that East Street would be a good of a place to start living here as any. She shouldered her pack and began walking down the wide road. There were many people out and about, as The Bright One was high in the sky. A few said hello to her and she smiled back at them. She tugged at her simple dress, hating its feeling against her skin. It felt rough even though it was of high quality fabric, she still did not get why people would bother wearing clothing at all! It encumbered movement and made it hard to tell if someone was a threat or not. Though, she should not be talking, Kelvics were the ultimate example of hidden weapons. She patted her Tamo Daggers, hidden in the folds of her clothes, ready to be used in seconds if she was attacked. Her bright green eyes sparkled in the sun, her brilliant red hair dancing like fire behind her as she walked.

Naomi started to notice there were less people on this street, and the ones that were present were more dodgy looking than before. Was East Street a bad area of town? She turned her head down and kept on walking, hoping she would eventually reach another, less sinister area, one she would feel safe sleeping in. Things only got worse. A group of about five or six people brushed past her, one cat called under his breath. She turned to confront him when she felt someone jostle her pack. In an instant, she was alone, the five men walked back the way she had came. Where was the sixth figure? She was sure she had seen one. She shook her head and swung her pack around in front of her so she could check it's condition. The pouch that had contained her purse now held nothing. She dropped to her knees, the loss of all the Mizas she had to her name weighing heavily on her. A crystal tear rolled down her cheek. She cursed her misfortune between sobs. She grabbed her poison wielder's gauntlet in the large pouch of her bag, putting it on her wrist, and loaded three needles into it, ready to be fired. But it was no use, you can not poison someone that is hidden to you. She threw it back into her pack and buried her face in her hands.

A Stolen Purse and a New Friend

Postby Cadence Pruette on September 19th, 2013, 8:14 pm

Hah!

Cadence smiled in her sucess as she ducked into an alley, removing her hood and pulling the recently snatched coin purse from under her cloak. She dropped down onto the cracked cobble beneath her, opening the purse and pouring out the Mizas into her hand.

"Ah ha!" She exclaimed, laughing as she counted out her haul. That girl had to be stupid, she must have brought her life savings onto East Street if she was carrying that much! As she poured out the coin purse, a few Mizas fell on the floor, along with the ting of glass hitting pavement. She looked down at the small vial of murky liquid. Grabbing it, the thought accured to her that it could be valuable, maybe a foreign cooking oil, or some sort of potion, and so she opened the small vial, and moved in to get an idea of it's scent. Her face contorted and she threw the lid back on as the vile, acrid scent licked her nostrils.

"What the petch is this stuff?" Cadence spat, throwing the vial back into the purse. Cadence reached up and scratched her nose, trying to will the scent away from her. "Ugh." She sighed and stood up, stowing away the coin purse once again. She began walking back towards the main street, trying to hold back a sneeze. Turning the corner onto the street, she saw the bright hair of the girl she robbed. The girl who was now reduced to tears on the cobbles of East Street.

"Hey, are, uh, are you alright?" Asked Cadence, placing a tentative hand on the sobbing girls shoulder.

A Stolen Purse and a New Friend

Naomi felt a hand touch her shoulder and she tensed, but it was a comforting gesture. She sniffed and wiped her eyes, mumbling, "No, I-I got my purse stolen, it was all I had." She trailed off, another sob racking her frame. She sniffed once more and immediately wrinkled her nose. "I'm sorry but your perfume..." her eyes widened in shock and her head whipped around to face the voice, "My purse! I smell death wing root extract on you. You didn't breath in the gas, did you? Of course you did!" She rolled her eyes, typical human, always getting themselves into trouble. Her pupils were catlike slits in the sun. She pulled out her philterer's kit from her pack and quickly pulled out an empty vial and ingredients. As she worked, she questioned the girl, "Are you feeling faint yet? Black spots around your vision? Thank god you did not drink it, or you would be dead already. Though, smelling it is almost as bad. Please sit down, you might pass out."

Naomi adventually finished the concoction, it was a pale yellow color and smelled of thyme and mold. She shook it then stopped when she saw a red root in a vile. This would make the antidote into a catalyst for the poison already inside of her. The girl stole from her, what else did she deserve? She closed her eyes and shook her head. No, that would make her worse than the bandits she had been captured by. No one deserved death by vomiting their lungs up. She buried the red root in her pack and gave the potion to the girl, who was now looking quite pale. "Drink this quickly. It will not taste like sweet juice, but it is better than dieing!" she let out a small giggle, pleased with her attempt at humor, "I think that this potion is worth giving me my purse back, huh?" She hoped the girl was smart enough not to say no. They looked kinda alike, and it was hard to eat yourself.

"I think this potion is worth giving me my stuff back, huh?"

As the girl spoke, Cadence realized that she did, indeed, feel worse and worse. She was feeling colder and colder, and she felt unsettled in the pit of her stomach. 'What did she do?! Cadence started coughing, and the more she coughed, the more she freaked out.

"How do I know I can trust you?" Cadence spat out, her voice full of fear. She looked down at the bottle the girl was holding out, then back to the coin purse hidden within her cloak. She didn't know what to do, she couldn't know what to do!

Naomi did not envy the girl at this moment, she had poisoned herself before, and it had not been pretty. "Well, considering if you don't trust me, you will die, I don't think you have much of a choice. Now please, drink! If I wanted you dead I would just leave you here," she commanded, her voice worry full. She sniffed the air, tasting her bag somewhere nearby. If this girl did not drink, it would be on her head. She should have bought a bigger philterer’s bag, then she might not have had to store ingredients in her purse. Though, it did stop her mizas from being stolen, which was a good thing, but the antidote cost a few silvers in ingredients to make. She figured it was worth it to save a life.

This is not how Naomi had planned her first day in Zeltiva to go. She hoped the rest of her stay here would go along smoother, but thanks to her inherent curiosity, that was unlikely. Maybe West street would have a suitable place for her to rest after her travels, as she certainly would not find it here.

A Stolen Purse and a New Friend

Cadence was now panicking, she finally took the bottle from the girl, and began drinking it, her face contorting as she ingested the disgusting liquid. After finishing off the bottle, she gasped and fell back against a nearby building, lowering herself onto the ground. Trying to breathe, her heart pounding in her chest and a headache coming on, she looked at the girl in bewilderment. Despite the vile taste, the more serious side effects of the poison had already begun to wear off. She felt her stomach lighten, and her coughing settled down.

"Why would you help me? I..I stole from you." Cadence breathed out, her voice merely a low whisper. It was ripe with repentance, she was. for the first time in a long time, sorry for what she'd done. She looked at the girl, and reached into her cloak, tossing over the coin purse, and coughing.

Naomi watched nervously as the girl downed the antidote. She had not spent proper time on it and had not used a heating element to distill it, so it would not be as pure as normal. But, it would still have the same effects, hopefully, maybe a little stomach trouble later on in the day. The girl's cheeks gained back a little color and Naomi sighed with relief. "It worked," she whispered to herself, amazed at the speed in which she could work when she needed to. She wrapped her arms around the girl in celebration of he triumph. She the proceeded to check the girl's eyes and breath for any signs of long term damage. Finding none she nodded and said, "You should be fine, are you feeling better?"

Naomi pondered the girl's question for a moment. Why did she save her, she was a thief after all. But, thieves did not deserve to die. She had stolen before, and killed, to stay alive, so how was this girl any different? "Well, it is because are alike me, not knowing how things are, not to mention you look like me. I thought that if I were you, I would prefer to live than to die. I only hope that someday you save someone too," she answered, not quite knowing how to express herself. Common did not quite have the depth that Feline did. She caught her purse nimbly and thanked the girl, helping her to her feet. "Where will you go now? And could you recommend a place for me to stay here? A permanent home would be nice, but a good inn will do for a day or two,"

"...but a good inn will do for a day or two."

Cadence still sat on the pavement, sighing, she closed her eyes. The color was slowly returning to her cheeks, and her breathing was feeling just about normal now. I almost died, didn't I? Cadence thought to herself, and she still felt horrible.

"I...I'm staying at the World's End Grotto for a, uh, little while. If you need a temporary room?" Cadence coughed lightly and looked up into the girls green eyes, taking minor notice of the catlike slits that her pupils formed. Cadence tried to force out a small smile, but she couldn't tell if it came out looking kind, or if it looked like she was trying to snarl at the poor girl.

The Worlds End Grotto huh? That did not sound like a pleasant place to stay, mostly because of the world ending part, but then again, you should not judge something by how it sounds. "Is it on west street, or is it near here?" she asked looking up and down the street, and thinking that this was not a safe place for a lone girl to stay at night. "I suppose anywhere is better than out on the street. Lead the way!" she decided, her face flushed with excitement.

Naomi thought for a moment. Surely this girl had been doing something before their paths had crossed. She really did not have to do anything for her such as find her lodging, so she added "I-if you are not busy of course. I would not want to be a burden on you." Naomi did not have friends, she had not yet met anyone who would put up with her for long enough to connect with. She did not mind though, tigers are territorial beings by nature, and who was she to change that? Still, the hole in her chest where a bond was supposed to go was still wide open, throbbing in pain with every breath, every beat of her heart. She blinked her green eyes, clearing her thoughts and focused back on the girl that stood before her.

It's a sad day indeed when a Founder has to get involved in a PC's personal life on this site because said PC isn't listening to a DS and is disrespectful as hell in continuing to post.

B'Naomi.

You were warned in your threads in Kalinor you would most likely be harvested. That means you cannot continue posting to threads ELSEWHERE and say you left Kalinor safe and sound without the threads in Kalinor being concluded. I'm thus locking all your threads here and asking you to apologize to your thread partners whom most likely have nulled threads with you - meaning threads that they will be told 'didn't happen' - which wasted their time and effort here as writers.
