Appearance

Name: Michaela Rae
Alternate Names/Nicknames: Mich, Shay, Shayla, Rae (Most people call her Michaela: Pronounced Ma-kay-la But Rae is a name people who've known her well call her, so she tagged it on the back. )
Race: Inartan
Caste: Avora
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Birthday: 27, winter, 495.
Birthplace: Wind Reach
Job Description: Falconry Apprentices work hand in hand with non-apprentice falconers, though will only work with low-level birds solo, and never wild birds unless explicit permission is given. These new falconers are required to exercise all falconers birds (when non-apprentice cannot themselves) as well as begin training one of their choice from the falconer aeries (under non-apprentice supervision) until which time they can purchase the bird to work with.

Appearance: Michaela is a "ginger" or "redhead" as some may state; her hair's hue appearing to be an orange-like auburn blended with tints of brown and red, in the winter the under layer temporarily darkening slightly to a brown-crimson. This gorgeous mass is soft and glossy, left to fall naturally in an adorning apparel to the middle of her back in a slightly wavy formation, sometimes being graced with a decorative feather. Her complexion is fair and her face is without freckles or blemish, giving the appearance of a faint glow. Her eyes are a stunning hazel color, like glass kaleidoscopes made from altering shades of brown and green, though from a distance they strike one as being a deeper shamrock green than anything else. She has defined, slightly arched eyebrows only faintly darker than her hair, and natural ebony-colored lashes. Her lips are a deep rose and her cheekbones kissed with a tender blush. She possesses softer facial features and an hourglass-like figure, her shoulders somewhat broader than average and her muscles toned and defined. She stands at 5'6, weighing about 130 pounds. More often than not, you will see her out and about, either holding a serious, thoughtful gaze or wearing a modest smile that lights up her entire visage, like the luminous flame of a candle, her eyes will sparkle with an enchanting glow. Her countenance remains either pleasant and at ease or inspired and thought provoked the majority of the time. She wears the standard wear for the citizens of Wind Reach, most everything made with a deep navy blue cloth, her Katinu a darker green, and black ankle boots for shoes. Around her neck, on a thin silver chain, a silver, heart shaped locket with small and intricate designs cut into it hangs; resting above her collar, gleaming brightly in the light of day.

Character Concept

Michaela is outgoing, alert, mysterious, and passionate. She isn't quick to back down or throw in the towel, and her determination and courage are strengths many people are inspired by and admire. She's as caring as she is determined, sure to be there for her companions when they need her the most and others when they look like they could use a hand. Generally, she doesn't have a very low self esteem, but rather much confidence; if she desires to do something, she trusts she can and is worthy of success. However, she is not arrogant or excessively prideful. For instance, she isn't as prejudiced as most Inartas in Wind Reach, but is still a bit more hesitant when it comes to talking to races that are uncertain or looked down upon by these red-headed folk, sometimes even attempting to avoid them altogether. Michaela hasn't much trouble trusting others, though she will watch somebody for a considerable amount of time and remain vigilant until they demonstrate they are trustworthy.

For Michaela, the glass is preferably half full, not half empty, although her optimism is still within the restraints of reality. Mysteries intrigue Michaela, and she finds the intricate patterns of life around her fascinating. When she becomes interested in something, there's no stopping her curiosity from growing and later pursuing it. She has a connection with animals, especially birds, and most animals in contact with her become fond of her also. She also takes pleasure in writing, an enjoyable hobby, and can be sometimes found in a quiet, secluded place writing about her adventures or experiences. She also expresses herself through song, although it is rare that one hears her beautiful, smooth, and melodious voice; this she also does alone, not for fear of an audience, but for an exclusive sense of intimacy with her inner self. Music is an art that she has come to appreciate greatly. She dislikes cruel Endals and Avora, and arrogant upper caste members, as well as people or objects that give off evil or dark vibes. She is neither a fan of foe, or sword, and the pressure of a sharp blade's presence drawn in the hand of anyone is enough to slightly unsettle her. In the incident of an enemy confronting her with one, she has the panicked urge to either move rapidly away or attack, a troublesome fear that over the years, she has slowly been able to reign in. Even so, handling blades in a hostile manner is a quick way to become an enemy and target of any wrath, large or small, from Michaela. Using knives in the kitchen still causes her to examine even her own every move meticulously.

Michaela is truly creative and intelligent, and while she may sometimes seem oblivious on the outside, the sharp and keen sparks in her focused eyes mean she knows more than she may be letting on. Most citizens of Wind Reach are swift to note the variety of potentials for greatness within this perceptive and gifted Inarta. Her nature is compelling and engaging, her abstract perspectives and vivid points of view apparent while still maintaining a steady grip on logic and reasoning. For this reason, socializing is never a burden for Michaela. Often she speaks her mind and is honest with the people who converse with her, letting them know concerns and ideas. What Michaela struggles with the most with over-thinking a situation, a downside to her self-learned behavior to look deeply into everything. Becoming an Endal is an ambition that drives her, and Michaela desires above all else to become a citizen of great importance, inspiring, protecting, and contributing to society in a powerful way.

In the midst of this collected and detailed personality, there are things that still remain a mystery, even to Michaela herself. Despite her varied assemblage of knowledge and experiences, the charm of innocence is still rooted strongly inside her for an Inarta. This trait is uncommon in such a society, and neither of her parents possessed this minuscule, but not to be forgotten detail; nor did they adapt the enchanting philosophies of this youthful young lady. No matter how the day ends, or what the circumstance, Michaela's greatest mystery is unlocking the secrets of discovering who she is; something many people have neglected to attempt or forgotten about in the hurried and rushed pace of society.

Character History

Michaela Rae was the poster child for excellence in her youth. Her parents were both Avora, her mother a magnificant painter and her father an exquisite glass-worker. One of her teachers would often call her a "Ray of sunshine," but after a while, she would shorten it to her little "Ray." Eventually Michaela added Ray to her own name, but spelled it Rae because she thought it looked prettier. Michaela had been more impetuous as a small child, as all young Inartas were, but ever-so-slightly more levelheaded. Onlookers chuckled and exchanged words with each other as they caught glimpse of groups of tiny children competing in reckless stunts, seeing how far the boundary of consequence could be crossed until it unleashed punishment. At such a young age she was also very much determined to make the most of her opportunities, her heart already set on what many claimed she was destined for: becoming an Endal and working with falconry. Everyone commended her, reassuring the lively girl that her potential was great and her intelligence too for such an age. By the time she was 9, already she had handled multiple birds, even gone on small hunting expeditions. Her childhood was not particularly taxing, and she had no trouble adapting to the jarring weather or pulling daring stunts, nor had this spirited, carefree Inarta experienced any tragic events to bring sorrow or great grief. All except one evening, when an unfortunate disaster struck.

It was the middle of the hot, dry summer season in Wind Reach, and Michaela was only 3. She and her parents had gone to swim at Thunder bay, the sky clear and not a cloud in sight. As the sun slowly descended, the bright azure sky dimmed to a faint periwinkle, many already returning home. When she and her parents decided they too would head home, not far from the bay, a monster emerged quickly from behind a large boulder, crying out savagely and attacking them without a moment's hesitation, holding a large, sharp-ended stick. All Michaela caught sight of was a flurry of the monster and his weapon, approaching so rapidly that it wasn't until it had almost gotten her that the redheaded girl realized she was under assault. There were four cries in unison, and she squeezed her eyes tightly in terror, stumbling backwards in the confusion. After a second, Michaela heard nothing but silence, felt no pain, so she got up gradually, her troubled eyes fluttering open. A few yards ahead of her lay the monster, a pool of blood visible underneath his dying body, glinting eerily in the moonlight. Where his heart was located, a familiar knife was protruding in triumph, her father breathing heavily next to him in an attacker's stance. Michaela then turned her attention towards the frail and tremulous breathing directly below her feet, lowering her head, beholding her mother laying limply, blood trickling heavily down her torso from the dire injury made by the sharpened stick, the primitive weapon bloodied on the ground beside her. She had jumped in the way to save her daughter, and now she herself was dying. Before she breathed her last, her mother removed the silver locket Michaela had so many times admired from her neck, entrusting it to her feebly.

There had been a proper funeral for the fine artisan; the event wasn't unheard of, but still unnerving most of the people who attended as they mourned. But even at such a loss, nobody could afford to grieve incessantly, and as she neared her 16th birthday, years from then, now an Avora herself, Michaela had long since gotten over her mother's death; all but her new-found fear of sharp objects. She had been presented with an apprenticeship by Velos Hale for her clever way, intriguing behavior, and her way with animals, namely birds; a few reasons among many others she was selected by Velos, who had been watching her exceptional progress over the last year or so. Gladly she accepted, fervent about seeing her ambitions through until they became a reality. As she worked diligently to meet her goals, she dreamed of the day that she would be chosen by one of the glorious wind eagles and became an Endal, keeping in regard that as the days proceed on, she was nearing the possibility to truly amaze, influence, and inspire others, and along the way, uncover more truths tucked away about the ways of the complex and mystifying world she lived in, and how she fit into the intricate puzzle.
