The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

-- Fall 38th, 513 AV --

Jenni stared at the pot before her with a raised eyebrow. The thing had gotten dusty, and so it was her job to clean it. Except… it was so delicate! She could see the cracks where it had broken then been pieced together again, and worried that it would just fall apart with a single touch. Still… she’d been told that it was relatively sturdy, just… don’t drop it. Decided to follow those in charge, she hesitantly rubbed her wet cloth against one of the sides, watching it wipe off a dark smudge that covered the rest of the pottery. It left the spot much cleaner-looking, and since the clay creation didn’t even wobble… it gave the morpher a little more courage.

She took a seat at the table she was using and continued to rub in spots around the first area, smudging off any dust and grime that had collected on the age old thing. Underneath, the pottery was a nice reddish brown, with some kind of symbol carved repeatedly over its surface. It obviously meant something, but she had no clue what it was… probably some of the higher ranking seekers knew. So, she kept cleaning it, occasionally dipping her cloth into a shallow bowl of water nearby. As she did it, she wondered how in the world the artefact actually got so dirty… it was as if no one had cleaned it in years! Maybe no one had since it was pieced together.

That gave her an odd feeling. She was touching… cleaning… something that was probably decades old… or older. Was it maybe pre-valterrian? There had been a slip of stiff card with the pot that she hadn’t bothered to read yet. Setting her cloth into the bowl to soak for a bit, she picked it up, reading over the information given. It said, in long curly writing:

Suvan Pot, Created xxx?
Refurbished Winter 76th, 418 AV
Creator: Male, mid-thirties, probably potter
Use: Cooking, water holding
Symbols: Unknown

It was actually quite a lot of information, considering. As all of the full-fledged seekers had been marked by Eyris, they had apparently been able to find out several pieces of seemingly useless information… but they were quite important indeed. The use and creator were particularly interesting, though it was annoying no one had gotten the race… but he was probably human. The Bharani Library was so full of odd slivers of information like this, it was quite funny. Eyris’ gnosis was the most useful of all, in her opinion… the amount of raw data that could be collected with it…
The Twilight shook her head, slightly amused by the stupor she’d gotten herself into. Instead, she set the card back down on the table with plans for it… was ripped up slightly and dented, smudges in a few places. She might was well take the time to re-write it, if she was going to clean the pot as well. But that would happen after her current job. She returned her attention to the pottery, picking up her now soaked cloth and squeezing it into the bowl. Then she began scrubbing off the grey grime, making the rough surface as bright as it possibly could be… for clay.

It took her several chimes to finish off the entire pot, before setting it down. She fetched another piece of stiff card, ink and a quill, as well as returning the cloth and her bowl. She then settled down to re-copy the card onto this new piece of parchment.

Suvan Pot, Created ???
Refurbished - Winter 76th,418 AV
Creator – Male, Mid-thirties, Probably Potter
Use – Cooking, Holding Water
Symbols – Unknown

Looking back, she winced, realizing she hadn’t copied it entirely correctly. Oh well… it wasn’t like there wasn’t any incorrect information. At least it was a little neater… her own hand was certainly a little fancy, but much simpler than the original writing… much easier to read (at least in her opinion). Picking up both the pot and card gently, she reshelved them, slipping the note under the pottery so it stuck out half-way… easy to notice, and so it could easily be identified as belonging to the artefact. She returned her quill and ink to the place she’d found it from, and headed out of the library, her time right now finished.

Technically, it was nearly dusk rest, and she should be sleeping… but Jenni had another plan in mind. She headed out in the general direction of the Kinell Hotsprings, a relaxing soak in mind… since it was technically a time when everyone was sleeping, she should have any problem getting it to herself… she hated going there with large crowds of people.

After a long and slightly treacherous walk, Jenni finally made her way out to the massive area of the hotsprings. To her relief, there was no one in sight... so she'd be able to have a private bathe. The greenery and various plant like around made the place feel almost magical, but a lot of locations in Lhavit felt like that. Partially because there was magic in them, and partially because they were so beautiful. However, the Twilight was pretty sure that in this case it was simply the latter.

Quickly stripping and storing her clothes among a dry pile of rocks, she quickly slipped into the magnificently hot water. Only then did she realize how much her feet had hurt from the walk -she wasn't very fit in general- and how stiff her neck was from leaning over a book all day... or days... thinking on it, it had been stiff forages. Actually, it was almost always like that! It was an odd, and actually pretty funny thought. Still, she sighed with relief at the general warm feeling sunk over her body, and all cold that had existed simply disappeared.

She dunked her head under, wetting her hair and warming the tip of her cold nose, before popping up again. She'd found a nice spot, where her shoulders barely stuck out of the water if she stood up straight. The morpher began to move around, however, in search of a slightly deeper area but with access to an edge. So, she began following the rim of the massive pool, the dense water feeling like heaven against her body, though the warmth seemed to dim slightly. This was mostly because she was getting used to it, however, and it was still a nice temperature anyways... so she didn't complain.

Jenni soon enough found the perfect niche- the water reached the middle of her neck, and there was a nice miniature brook that bubbled its way through a crack in the rock walls, heading down the rocky hill. Its noise was quiet and soothing, and soon enough the woman was leaning her head against the stone edge, eyes half closed as she gazed over the scenery.

And it was magnificent scenery. She was facing away from the city itself, and though that would have been an equally beautiful view, the complete wilderness held a nice... calmness... to it. She could see the endless mountain ranges of Kalea from her vantage point, with its crystal clear sky and vivid green forests. And considering the time, the sunset before her made everything even more magnificent. It made the mountains glow a purplish red, the sky a similar color. There was an obvious gradient from deep purple at the top of the sky, and a lighter almost orange color right at the horizon. It was beautiful seeing Syna and Leth switch places, and right now she even spotted the pale moon floating innocently in the sky, having not yet taken its place for night time.

Soon enough, her eyelids drifted shut, and the Twilight fell into a calm, dreamless sleep. As she floated around in the void, the hot water of the springs relaxed her muscles, relaxing every joint, and warming every inch of her skin… except her nose. When she awoke to a slightly darker scene, the tip of her nose was as cold as ice, while the rest a more comfortable temperature.

Feeling rested from her short nap, the morpher pushed herself up in search of something else to do. She quickly found a bush with small pointed leaves overhanging the water, and drifted toward it, not exactly walking, not exactly swimming. She stared at it, taking in the rough texture of the plant and its vivid green color, though the stem was tinged a pale red. She remembered some of her relatives talking about morphing into plants: it was possible, but Jenni herself had never tried it. Now she was… curious… to see how it would turn out. It would be fun to grow a leaf or two on her forearm, or one day imitate the rough bark of a tree. For now, she’d content herself with trying to morph just one of the pert little leaves onto the back of her hand.

She stared at the item for a little longer, before turning her attention to her hand. She pulled at the djed there, stretching it, changing the color, and the texture, and creating a slight lump on top of her skin. She wasn’t going to make it a loose leaf, just a bump that had the consistency of one. Her bulge made, she tinged it green before adding the ripples and faint serrations she’d noticed beforehand. The morpher’s skin followed suit, and soon enough she had a replica of the leaf on her hand. As soon as it was made, however, she let go, and allowed her normal skin to bounce back into place. She’d work on it another time, and maybe add a few more leaves. Now… it was time to be heading back, or she wouldn’t be able to make her way back in the dark.

Jenni, after shoving herself out of the pool and drying off, dressed, glad for the warmth brought by her thick scarf and cloak. It had been getting colder as Syna drifted down below the horizon, and her nose had begun to feel a little… numb. It was always the first part of her to get cold. It was still easily light enough to see the world around her, but she dared not linger any longer, as heading down that path in the dark… it made her want to shudder. She could always take on Crook’s eyes, however. That helped.

Something caught the corner of her eye, however, causing the Twilight to glance over. There was a figure, moving, and tiny. Honestly, it looked like a mouse. But there was no movement of fur, just… smooth. And kind of brownish. Confused and curious, the morpher moved over to the pool edge, where she witnessed the final parts of what could have been an interesting scene. A small clay creature- she later remembered it was a Pycon- tottered on the edge for a moment, before falling into the water. At that part it was barely a foot deep, but with the little creature… Jenni stared at the bottom of the water for a moment, watching it struggle at the bottom before realizing the thing couldn’t swim.

Before she could stop herself, her arm darted forward into the water, and her hand easily clutched around a… clay… thing. She brought it out, and was rewarded with an odd spluttering sound. Opening her now soaking hand, she saw a slightly squished, and incredibly wet clay… otter. “Awww! I can’t even swim as an otter!” it exclaimed, sounding slightly annoyed. The Twilight simply stared at the Pycon in shock, before registering it was one of the clay race. She frowned at it then, confused. “You’re made of clay. No matter your form, you’ll sink.” It was a blunt matter-of-fact answer, more created by surprise than concern. The little creature snorted, then sighed. “I guess you’re right. No need for webbed feet then…” And before her eyes, the Pycon shifted, his webbed otter paws lengthening into longer, practical, human fingers. It had given itself human hands. It was like her morphing, but she knew that Pycons sometimes changed their shape… they were practically natural morphers.

Shaking her head, she re-focused her attention on the otter. “So… you were trying to swim. I guess you’ve learnt your lesson, haven’t you?” It nodded sadly, before grinning widely. Grinning. An otter grinning. That was really weird. She gave it an odd expression, but let the creature speak. “Yea. Hey… I haven’t eaten in a bit. Can we go eat something?” It was practically a blunt request to be fed. Jenni raised an eyebrow but complied, and placed the little thing on her shoulder when it asked “Shoulder, please.”

So, she and her companion made their way down the treacherous path back to the city and the Amarinthine gates. Luckily, the Twilight hadn’t needed to use her cat eyes… she hated using them for long, in case she got stuck with them. That would just look…. Odd… She wanted to find some food that was relatively cheap, and maybe a hot drink to go with her bath. The Pycon chattered on and on about its life, wanting to swim, and all that stuff. She learned that the race are in a constant search to find their ‘true form’, and will change as they learn new things. In fact, their goal in life is to learn, something the morpher could understand and respect. She also figured out that his –it was a ‘he’- name was Drip, after falling in love with rain dripping from roofs. It was quite funny actually, his choice of name, but Jenni didn’t comment. It would have been rude to do that.

Soon enough, they found themselves in the Mhakula tea house, where Jenni sat them down at one of the small tables, the otter seemingly happy to sit on the table. Getting a good look at him now, the creature was barely an inch high, and more like three inches long, having the length body of an otter… but still missing the hands. It was creepy to see hands just like hers on a figurine of an otter. However, before she could delve more into the strange thoughts, a waiter came up and asked their order. “What do you want?” the Twilight relayed to Drip, who thought for a moment. He’d given up on food during their walk, instead wanting to drink something. “Tea!” He didn’t seem to want to specify, so the morpher added “Sunrise, please. Two of it, actually.” The waited nodded and set off with their order.

Jenni handed over 4 topaz mizas when the waiter approached with their tea, and immediately wrapped her hands around her own cup. The other, she set before Drip with a little flourish, before watching his actions curiously. He clambered up the low mug, his extra length enabeling him to peek over the rim. He then stared down, before completely dunking his head into the liquid. After a moment, the Pycon popped out, with an odd expression on his face. “That feels weird!” he exclaimed, before dunking his head back under the tea’s surface. Sighing, the Twilight raised her cup to her own lips, taking a small sip out of it while watching the creature ‘drink’.

The tea was delicious, and soon enough she was taking large gulps out of the hot liquid, a small smile on her lips. The warm feeling in her belly was marvelous, and incredibly… comforting. Soon enough, her cup was completely empty, except for the few loose leaves sitting at the bottom. When she looked up, Drip had managed to fall completely into his drink, and was attempting to scrabble out of the liquid. Sighing, the morpher picked her charge up and out of the tea, letting him drip onto the table. “You should know not to swim after the hot springs” she scolded, but he ignored her lesson. “That was fun! Hey! Human!” He still hadn’t asked her name yet, and she hadn’t bothered to give it to him. She should probably get some more respect for saving his life twice in a row now, but didn’t feel in the mood for demanding things. The Pycon had put her off that.

“Yes?” Jenni asked with a raised eyebrow, setting her empty cup down. “Can I have some food?” was his answer. Nodding quietly, she called over the waiter again and ordered a small appetizer… tomato bazil dip with some bread… to dip in it, of course. When the meal arrived, she cashed out another two Kina, hoping that she wouldn’t have to stay with the Pycon for long. He chattered until the meal arrived, talking about food, and tea, and drinking things in general. The Twilight deigned to ignore him, feeling too tired after her bath and walk to talk much.

When the food was set before him, Drip immediately set on a piece of bread, ripping it apart as best he could before attempting to stuff the stuff in his mouth. The morpher watched with humor, taking a slice herself and taking up a good deal of the dip. This was her favorite kind here, so if her companion didn’t eat anything… which he probably wouldn’t anyways, she could finish this off on her own. Only as she began eating did she realize how ravenous she was! She quickly finished off the bread and dip, leaving the Pycon in his pile of shredded bread. “Hungry?” she asked sarcastically, but was answered with a sigh. “Eating doesn’t work for me! How do you do it?” Jenni frowned at this question, but she didn’t feel like explaining the concept of the digestive system. “We just do” she answered, before lifting him gently out of his ‘meal’.

“Now… where do you live?” she demanded, wanting to get rid of the creature as soon as possible. “The Cath… Catholocolon thingie.” He stumbled on the name, causing his companion to chuckle to herself. “I have a friend there!” The Twilight nodded, and began the walk to the Catholion. They reached it without too much trouble, where right inside… the morpher found her quarry.

A young woman with a distressed look on her face was pacing around, and glanced over at Jenni. When she saw the otter on the woman’s shoulder, the new person squealed, and plucked the Pycon from the Twilight’s shoulder. “You found him! Thank you! Thank you! How can I ever repay you?” The morpher thought the other woman was over reacting a bit, but didn’t say anything. An annoying Pycon to go with an annoying human. It was perfect. Though she planned on shrugging and leaving, Drip announced loudly “She got me tea, and food!” This caused his companion to glance up in surprise, before fishing something out of her pocket. “I hope this covers the costs” she told Jenni, shoving a pair of Kina into the scholar’s hand. “Uhhh sure…” she muttered, but as quickly as she’d approached, the woman disappeared, leaving the morpher in a state of shock.

That was weird… was her only thought, before shaking her head and leaving.
