The apology mollified Taylani, mostly because Taylani really did believe that most Drykas are not evil and wanting to enslave and subjugate people. They just were taught that it was the way to fix whatever problem they were having. She had been told only tidbits, admittedly because she rarely took the time to seek out knowledge on the Drykas. Better to keep herself apart by remaining ignorant of the customs, and history then to submerge herself in their culture and find herself too mired to extricate.

A soft sigh, and a forced smile is given before Taylani pushes herself to her feet. Just as her motion sitting, her motion standing is smooth. For now, at least she still retained the balance and poise taught in dance classes. "I am sorry for being so .. forceful. That was not my intention. Thank you for your time, and answering my questions. I think that is all that I have for now..." She let the last words trail off, as if she was thinking of returning when actually she thought only of getting back, to buy a little more food rations that she could hide away in her pack. "I will take your advice in consideration."

With a final smile the dancer turns and moves from around the partition, to exit the healing tent. Her mind whirling, her fears not in the least allayed.

As Irea watched Taylani depart, she sat back and considered. Though she'd helped the woman, teaching her things about motherhood that she would not otherwise have known, the healer had also pushed her away with her thoughtless speech. She chided herself for that, but could not feel truly sorry. Irea had spoken out of turn, but that did not mean she had been wrong. Taylani would accept her new life; nothing could stop that, but Irea wished she had parted on better terms with the woman. After a few minutes, Irea stood and returned to the open portion of the tents to pick up the bucket full of filthy water. She trudged outside with the bucket and heaved the contents onto the grass, before setting off to refill it. She would need to learn to deal with her patients more carefully.

Notes: .Lovely thread. Nice premise. Irea, please avoid repeating what the writer above you wrote. The readers know what was said. Just act on them or say things like “Irea responded to Taylani’s question.” We know what the question is.

I liked the back and forth dialog and the effort both you women put into the language barrier. Nicely done on that.

Irea be careful calling someone Drykas. A Drykas would not consider an unbonded woman a Drykas until a strider bonds to her.

Taylani watch your tenses. I’ve noticed in your threads you move from third person omnipresent to second person a great deal in the same post… you should be using terms like ‘Taylani ran..” instead of “Taylani runs…” and “Taylani went…” should be used instead of “Taylani goes…” In two posts up you said... "a soft smile is given.." That's present tense. You should have said "a soft smile was given.." to make it past tense... little things like that.: ) On Miz we write in third person omni but if you choose to write in second person no one will grumble too much, just keep each post consistent.
