15th of summer, 513 A.V

There was a book laying open on her stomach. She must have stayed up late reading for there was a candle near her bedside; one that had obviously burned out on it's own. The book rose and fell as her chest did, letting air in and out of her lungs.

As if someone had turned on a switch her eyes were open. Blue eyes with a hint of grey in the background staring at the world. She appeared to be a bit startled by her own sudden awakening. That startled look was replaced by a slow frown as she realized she was awake. Today was their day off! She got to sleep if she wanted to, run if she wanted to, hunt if she wanted to. She wanted to sleep, but it seemed as if her body had other ideas. Rubbing her palms over her face Loggan released an aggravated groan. Looks like she was up now. Her hair fell over her face as she sat up in bed. Pushing it out of her way her storm-like eyes scanned the room noticing that some of the bed of her fellow Yasi were empty, while others still had their owners warm and snug inside of them. As, quietly as she could Loggan slipped her clothes over her undergarments, slung her bow over her shoulder and snuck out.

Being summertime it seemed as if the very mountain vibrated with warmth; or perhaps that was just the volcano itself. Thin fingers ran through her red locks as she walked through the warrens carrying a torch for light and trying to figure out to do with her day off. Of course there was always training. One could not afford to let things go to chance when they were so near the age. The age that they either became something with themselves or melted away at the back of the society. Loggan had no plans of staying in the back of things; so that meant dedication.

Still, she was only fourteen. There had to be some time for fun. What about finding some other Yasi to hang out with? A half laugh escaped her maw at the thought. There were not very many of her fellow Inarta youth she could stand for long. The boys were arrogant and foolish, the girls were obsessed with the silliest of things. Of course there were a few who seemed to have some sense, but at this moment Loggan did not wish the search them out. A little time to herself could not hurt. It would help to clear her mind.

That was when she stopped and found herself in the underground forest. Her eyes scanned the hundreds of stalagmites and tights that scattered the cave. She must not have been paying attention to where she was going to have ended up here of all places. Brushing her fingertips across the cold material, Loggan started to walk through. Of course growing up here she had been in the forest before. Never though had she spent any real time in it. Why would she? It was dark in here, damp, and kind of spooky. I mean already she was finding it harder to see as she moved deeper. For whatever reason she did not turn around and go back, she kept going forward her eyes searching as if for something but not knowing what. The light of the fire she held flickered off her pale face and gave the shadows around her frightening shapes.

Hearing a scuffling behind her Loggan spun around with a gasp holding the light up high and backing into one of the pointed structures. One hand grasped the cold stone as the other held the torch. her blue eyes desperately searched through the dark for the owner of that sound.
"Is someone else in here?" Loggan called out as her heart pounded against her heart, ringing blood in her ears. Why was she scared? This was her home? No other Inarta was out to hurt her. So what was to fear?

A dark figure flew low brushing with her hair. Letting out a small scream Loggan fell to the floor dropping her torch and covering her head. The creature let out a small screech and flew deeper into the caves. Placing a hand on her chest she let out a small sigh. "Just a stupid bat." The young Yasi said to assure herself. It was ok, her light had probably frightened it. Her light! Spinning around Loggan groaned to find her torch on the floor, and extinguished. She was in the middle of the Underground forest and now it was pitch black down there. Which way was it back to the warrens?

"HELLO!!" She started to scream out. Someone would hear.
