The 13th of Fall, 513
Get up, get up, get up!
Her eyes jerked upon as if someone had jabbed her roughly with a knife. Chest pounding the young Inarta lay there, head staring at the rock ceiling as the sleep in her mind slowly drifted away. Where was she? Ah, safe in her bed. She had been dreaming of flying on the back of an eagle only for it to turn on her and throw her off. She had fallen for hundreds of feet screaming and then...awaken. Letting out a soft groan Loggan sat up in her bunk, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She should be glad the eagle threw her from it's back. She was awake just in time to get ready for class. Who knows how long she would have slept if she had been gliding through the skies in her perfect sense of a dream world.
Walking over to the basin Loggan splashed the cold water in her face, shivering form the cold. Putting her unruly hair into two braids she got dressed and shuffled out of the room. If she was judging the time right it was not yet 7 and there was enough time before role call. All around her other Yasi youth were waking and rushing to be ready for none wanted to be the ones that were late this morning. Slipping on her shoes Loggan made her bed; which consisted of just throwing the sheets up; and rushed out of the bedrooms. Through the tunnels, down some stairs and through the warrens. This had been her life since the young age of eight years old. Raised in the nurseries and then placed in here to be trained for the adult world. Her training was almost done. At the age of fourteen Loggan only had a year or so to go before they kicked her out. The thought made her stomach twist and she tried her best not to think about it much.
Shaking her head fimly Loggan tried to clear her thoughts as she entered into the large learning gallery. Youths of all ages sprawled about, filling the air with their high pitched voices. Even the early morning could not dull the many. With her stomach grumbling from a lack of breakfast Loggan made her way over to her class group; second advanced class. Merging with her peers she offered a small smile or a nod to this one of that. The few she had become friends with or at least knew their names, or who their famous parents were.
As the time ticked on the talking grew less and the gathering grew larger as more Yasi filed in. And then at 7 precisely a bell rang through the gallery and not a single youth said a word. Out came the teachers and tutors and over to their classes they went. Loggan glanced over at the young ones in the Basic, buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Ah, how she remembered being that age. So full of hope and dreams. Sure, she still had hopes and dreams, but she now faced reality more then before.
Straightening up as the teacher for the second advance class walked over the young red head stood their silently as names were called for attendance. Only when she heard her name did she dare say a sound. "Here I am." Loggan called out in a clear voice, becoming silent once again.
"Ok now students. I shall give you your new Bendi assignments and I expect you to be off with them as soon as you are called."
Closing her eyes Loggan sent out a small prayer. Last time she had been stuck with glasswork for ten days. She thought she was going to die of boredom. Sure, it was essential to their training. Plus glassworking was a huge thing here in the mountains. It just was not the task for Loggan. She thought her instructor would kill her if the boredom had not. All the glasses she had busted or dropped, the burns she had received in return. Yeah, not her cup of tea.
"Loggan you will be stationed in the fledglings aeries along with Stephan."
Her blood ran cold and her heart simply dropped out of her chest, or so it felt like. Blue-grey eyes grew as wide as the moon as Loggan's mouth fell right open. She would get to work with the fledglings? Sure, this meant she would be cleaning out their nest, placing new bedding, and bringing more food for the next few bells. This also meant that she would get a chance to be around the eagles. Maybe, just maybe this would be her chance to get one of them to like her. How wrong she was.
With a cheesy grin on her face the young girl took off running out of the gallery and towards her anticipated task.
