![]() Loren
• Physical Description Loren is a slender man with long straight black hair and dark tanned skin. You can barely make out silver streaks in Loren's hair if you look close enough. His long thin fingers are dexterous and nimble. His hand/eye coordination is well rehearsed. He is able to play several trills in quick succession on the Recorder/Flute due to his digital dexterity. Loren's eye color changes with his mood; it is said that Loren wears his heart in his eyes. His normal eye color is a pale blue color. It defines him when he is working or merely walking along a path. When he is happy, filled with laughter or having an exceptionally good time, his eyes turn a deep dark blue. If he feels fear or apprehension about doing something, his eyes turn green then pale yellow. Loren hates it when his eyes turn yellow and will shield them from others when he is afraid. At times of sadness, grief and despair, his eyes are a shade of orange. When he is annoyed or angered, his eyes turn red. Depending on how intense the feelings are the shade of red may change. If he is so angered that he might strike and kill the red turns almost to a shade of red-black. A mild feeling of anger in Loren is a mild red, but not to be confused with the pink-purplish hue they turn when he feels love. If his eyes turn green and do not continue onto yellow, this means he is jealous or desires something he cannot have. • Character Concept
• Character History
From an early age, Loren knew that he would marry a young Vanthan girl named, Fiarra. She was the most beautiful creature Loren had ever seen. He recalled meeting her in the forest one morning at play. They were both only five and six years old. Like all small children they took to being friends immediately. "You wanna be my friend?!" the small dark haired lass with red streaks beamed at Loren. She was loud and outspoken. She was warm and very friendly. She had a great sense of humor and Loren slowly learned to adore her. When Fiarra turned 16 years of age, it was time for the two to wed. They knew the day was coming and both looked forward to this day with excited anticipation. Loren offered up his gift of carvings, hides and whale blubber, which Fiarra's parents readily accepted. The ceremony was simple and the atmosphere was warm and festive. On their first evening as husband and wife, the two consummated their love and their vows to one another. Sadly, after a year no child arrived. Both families were forlorn and wondered why no child had arrived. After two years of trying Loren and Fiarra could not produce an offspring. The potential grandparents were angry. They lashed out at each other, they lashed out at their children. They pointed fingers; accusing the other of doing something to curse the relationship. After the 3rd summer of their marriage, Fiarra was stricken in sadness and despair. She knew deep down in her heart that it was her fault; she knew she was barren and could not produce an offspring. She finally brought up the nerve to tell Loren her secret. His eyes turned red, then orange and yellow. They quickly flashed back to red and even a hint of violet and back to red again. Loren did not need to say a word. Fiarra could see the turbulent path his emotions were careening along. In a fit of sadness and despair, Fiarra ran off into the forest to be alone. The next morning, her corpse was found at the foot of a 200 foot precipice overlooking the northern sea. When Loren learned about the death of his beloved bride, he threw himself into a deep hole where no one could reach him. He isolated himself from others and ate only rarely. His eyes remained orange during this time. They never changed colors. Occasionally, the orange looked more yellow and then again, more red. The closest they ever came to blue was a brownish color the mixed yellow, red and blue in a mangled hue with Orange still the prevalent dominant color. He barely spoke or played his flute. He carried his bow and spear wherever he went, but spoke to no one. Survival, was only secondary on his mind of where to go and what to do. His thoughts were still with Fiarra, the little girl he met 14 years ago who joyfully exclaimed her friendship to him. That was six months ago...
