Sisas watched dispassionately as a human was brought before him. “Hisss crime?” he asked, enjoying the way the human’s eyes widened when he heard the slight hiss that marked Sisas as a Dhani—and if the human wasn’t completely stupid, then he would realize that Sisas’s small size made him a Viper.

“Heresy,” the guard answered, cuffing the human to the rings in the wall, just high enough to stretch the human’s arms above his head; not enough to cause immediate discomfort, but if he did not cooperate and Sisas was forced to continue for hours…

Well, Sisas would have a good time, at least.

“Underssstood,” Sisas hissed, grinning. “You wish for me to persssuade him the error of hisss waysss?”

“Or convince him to keep his ways to himself.” The guard and Dhani shared a smirk, and then the guard left, leaving the prisoner alone with his interrogator.

“Now,” Sisas murmured to himself, approaching the table upon which were laid various instruments and vials. “Where should I begin?” He cast a critical eye over the human. He was of average build, slightly skinny, with poor muscling—no doubt a street rat. “Perhapsss you should tell me what you did to warrant a visssit here?”

The human swallowed audibly, and Sisas’s eyes tracked the movement of his Adam’s apple. “Surely you were told,” he countered, though Sisas could almost hear his heart racing from fear. The Dhani smirked.

“I wasss,” he admitted; he had been told in advance; the exchange with the guard was just a show. “However, the point here isss to… re-educate you in your city’s religion.”

The human merely stared at him defiantly. “You were told of my crime,” he spat. “I don’t need to tell you.”

Sisas’s grin grew. A victim with spirit—it would be so much sweeter when he broke. Cracking his neck, Sisas began to shift to his Dhani form—a process that had worked incredibly well in the past for intimidation. There was something about the slow process of exchanging skin for scales, lengthening his neck, and the various other changes needed that seemed to get under other races’ skins, warn them that they were in the presence of a dangerous predator—they needed to run.

But this human couldn’t. In his Dhani form, Sisas could experience the best of both worlds—the snake’s and the human’s. He could smell the captive’s fear, could taste it in the air.

His red and gold scales glinted dully in the torchlight as he twisted his neck again, slowly flaring his hood as he hissed at the captive; his heartbeat skyrocketed in response. “Let’sssss try thissss again, shall we?” he hissed, creeping closer and baring his fangs. “Your crime: What wasssss it?”
The human shook his head, his eyes wild. “You already know,” he insisted.
Sisas leaned closer, so that he was right in the other man’s face. “I do. Jusssssst like I know thissssss: You will break. It isssss only a matter of time.”

It took four bells and thirty-four chimes.

First Day on the Job

Hey Sisas!

I can't grade this thread, simply because you have yet to update your ledger for the current season. With job threads like this one, you just need to PM me with the link, your occupation, and salary.

On top of this, there are a few more things you should add, though they're mostly optional... Firstly, the thread is missing a timestamp, which is needed on all threads. Second, it doesn't really count as a job thread, as you've barely started on your job... perhaps edit it, and add more detail on the torture process? Lastly, I think you've mixed up the names for times... 4 chimes and 34 bells would be nearly a day and a half. Bell = hour, Chime = minute, and Tick = second.

Once you've fixed this up, PM me, and I'll re-grade this!
