Aella may very well be, at least in theory, an ethical nihilist. Fortunately her belief that nothing is inherently right or wrong is tempered by the fact that she tends to be nice and can very easily be described as a humanitarian.

She is not an intellectual, but she does swing philosophical at the strangest times. This is due to a certain activeness in her character that manifests both mentally and physically. Simply put, she is impulsively quick to act upon her ideas – Cemented in the urge to get things done, and done in the shortest possible time.

Independence is the keynote of her nature. And while she may need people around, her mind and spirit are at war over how much she will let anyone in.

She is friendly and owns a pioneering spirit. Finding the truth easier to keep up with than a lie, she deals honestly and with sincerity more often than not – Though a strong mischievous streak does enjoy a joke or trick when she can work one in.

ImageAella stands at an even five feet, and due to her general small size she’s basically the human version of an ankle-biter. Despite her proportions being smaller than average, she has more of an athletic build than a waifish one – Though no one would use curvy to describe her.

She has green eyes that sometime swing more blue. Her hair is medium blond, and she tries her hardest to keep it tied back with a piece of leather.

The woman has an extreme distaste for wearing dresses – Likely this has to do with her lifestyle. Therefore she prefers to wear simple pants and shirts in darker colors that will hide the dirt. While she will wear a fitted bodice, nothing she owns has corset stays in it. She is more than happy to lecture a person on the limiting movement of clothing she deems to be impractical (or in her words stupid).

ImageJameson Vlaclav claimed, despite having no real proof, that he could trace his family’s lineage to the mining days of Sunberth. Beyond that, though, he never really elaborated as far as most would remember. However, the man made his fortune as an undertaker, and it would be easy to assume that his lack of story was due to the fact that he spent most of his working day talking to corpses. He was a well-off man, though. The lawlessness of Sunberth made sure that he stayed a busy one.

Sunberth may have been dangerous, perhaps even a little exciting, but Aella Vlaclav never really had much of a chance to find out. With Jameson’s lineage secured by two healthy sons, unplanned Aella was treated more as a commodity than a daughter. Her mother, a retired woman of ill-repute, had married up in the world. She and her husband were determined that the girl would be the ladder in their upward climb to a higher society. Therefore, save for parties hosted by whomever the right people were on any given day, Aella led a life removed from the world.

At ten her father worked out a deal with an Akalak three times her age to marry her off at sixteen. Though somewhat aware of the situation, the details of age and his unsavory personality were kept from her. Upon meeting him for the first time at fifteen, and despite not knowing exactly what qualities she wished for in a husband, she came to the conclusion that this fellow was decidedly lacking in the marriage material department. Never mind the fact that someone, likely one of the slaves in her household, had clued the girl in on the life expectancy of an Akalak’s wife.

And so in the middle of the night, she took off with nearly nothing to her name. There was one problem, though…

Aella didn’t exactly know how to survive on her own in a house let alone in the wilderness.

Most wouldn’t add the word fortunately to the sentence I got captured by slavers, but Aella is a different kind of creature. If it hadn’t been for the slavers, she would have died. Instead somewhere on the road to Ravok, she fell in love with one of the poor fellows.

His name was Imman, and unbeknownst to her the feeling was mutual. Strangely enough those feelings continued to grow for her, despite the fact that one night he awoke to find her holding a knife to his throat. Running away from the group he worked with alive and with the young woman he was in love with didn’t seem such a horrible fate. A week or so later, the two exchanged marriage vows.

In time they moved further across Sylira, getting closer and closer to Syliras. Aella became more confident in her survival skills, which was fortunate. One day Imman went out to check their traps and never came back. Aella kept their camp settled for a week. Then two. Eventually her Chevas mark faded away and what appeared was the Lacun mark she feared would come to be.

She packed up camp and took what little they shared together, setting up a new circuit of space outside of Sylrias.
