Femke Novak Appearance Race: Human Gender: Female Age: Eighteen Birthday: 14, Autumn, 497 AV. Birthplace: Lhavit Appearance: Femke Novak is a slightly chubby, smallish woman – just over 5” – with wavy brown hair and eyes. She has thick eyebrows and a round face. When she can, Femke prefers to wear loose fitting clothes, more often than not skirts, with her hair loose or tied partially back. Character Concept Femke is the youngest of her family and runs Novak's Eatery with her older sister Lana. Like her sister, Femke has a very strong commitment to her family and they come first for her, always. Her biggest love is cooking, but she also enjoys gardening, or at least the peacefulness of it. When her home is crowded with customers she tends to retire to the garden, if not to work then to just sit among the vegetables and herbs. Although Femke does like company, she's used to being around small groups of people - no more than four or five - so large crowds intimidate her. Femke has an adventurous streak in her though, and occasionally - despite her love for her family and home - longs to explore the real world and see what it's like. Due to having never actually left Lhavit nor knowing anyone who has - other than traders who like giving tall stories about the wonders they've seen - her longing is based on a heavily romanticized view of the outside world, as opposed to the more dangerous reality. She can also be quite stubborn and naive, although more than willing to listen to people who disagree with her and admit she's wrong when she is. Because of this Femke dislikes people who tell her to do things without explaining why or expect to be obeyed instantly and without question. In these cases, she doesn't particularly care whether or not they're right and views them not keeping her informed as either condescending or distrusting depending on the situation. Character History Femke was adopted by Maria and Nicholas Novak when she was four from an orphanage - her true parentage. They already had one daughter, Lana, then seven. After a few awkward weeks the two girls got on like a house on fire, Lana keeping an eye on her little sister while their parents ran the restaurant. Once she was old enough Femke, like her sister, helped out at the shop and as the family lived in the two small rooms above it, most of her life was spent either there or at the market buying ingredients. It was the family's dream to make their restaurant self-sufficient so they could provide all the needed produce themselves, but with the exclusion of the small garden at the back Femke helped arrange when she was twelve, nothing was really done in that regard. When she was fifteen, Femke's dad died, leaving the two girls to look after their aging mother and manage the restaurant themselves. By this point Lana had basically taken over the restaurant and it was a simple matter to sort out a way of balancing tasks so the three of them could manage.
