It hadn't worked exactly the way he had planned it to, but things rarely did in combat. This was why he practiced his Kata daily, so that he could react to the unplanned with ease...Okay in this case there was no ease but he had known that would be the case when he had chosen to challenge himself by picking an unfamiliar weapon.

The smart smack in the middle of his back helped to draw his concentration back into focus, not letting the strike inflame him into rash actions. Instead he caught himself and once more lowered for balance. This time he eyed the other carefully, watched his stance, and gauged his reach all the while he was putting together combo's in his mind that would work with this longer weapon then he was used to using.

In acknowledgement of the Akalak's words to him, Favchean gave a gentle grumble in the back of his throat but still he waits patiently, watching. Finally after a full chime, Favchean darts forward. Instead of going low though, this time he feints to the left, bringing the left most side of his weapon up only to turn with as much speed as he could to the right hoping to sweep the sword up and under Riaris' defense to thrust at his chest. The feint was one similar to the ones he had used with his dagger, though it was far more awkward working with this sword. It was something he was going to have to work on.

Riaris liked the speed of the green guy, and he was flexible. This was a talent found in the more seasoned of their kind. Quick movements combined with brute strength was a deadly weapon that the Akalak learned to use to master their art. There was a myth that Akalak were slow and clumsy because of their size. It was men like Favchean and himself who put those lies in the ground and buried them. "You're fast, but you'd better start attacking otherwise you're just wasting energy."

He didn't mean to taunt the man exactly. His words were advice, trying to help the man who did more jumping around than he did swings. Riaris waited the the attack, and when he saw it coming, he turned his blade across his chest to block, but somehow the blade of his opponent slipped under his and pinched him in his chest. It was a swift move, once again powered by the Akalak's speed. Riaris smirked, he enjoyed the challenge of another Akalak in battle.

With Favchean so close, he pushed his weapon down quickly to knock the wooden weapon away from his chest. Hands to each end of the handle to his blade, Riaris first turned left, slashing out at the man's right shoulders, then quickly spun his blade with the other end striking towards the man's neck.

As much as the Akalak loved a challenge, as much as he strove to win in every challenge, Favchean also was intelligent enough to know that losing was not shameful if it was done well. He truthfully learned more from losing in these challenges then when he did winning them. It looked like today it was going to be another learning event, which was fine for the green male. Arrogance in thinking that one can not learn from an opponent would lead to disastrous results, this is a truth that Favchean knew.

When his weapon impacted the other, the resonance of the strike traveling up his blade, a surge of triumph soared through him though it was simply a triumph in knowing that he scored a hit with a weapon he had never used before. The triumph was short lived though as he failed to bring up his weapon in time to block the blow to his shoulder, the strike leaving an impression on the necessity of watching both ends of the weapon.

Since his weapon was on the way up anyways, he did manage to clumsily deflect the one aimed at his neck. He had over extended the weapon in deflecting the last blow aimed toward him, leaving him open and even he recognized that. Assuming that the other Akalak would also see this opening, Favchean steeled himself and used the over-extension to pull back, allowing his elbow to fall into a typical Elbow thrust, arm bent toward the other man's face. All the while his left hand that had kept hold of the sword grip slides it back in place, in front of him so that his right hand can take its place on the hilt as well.

The fight was getting good, the adrenaline, while not on high, was pumping enough and the Akalak was ready to push the challenger harder. He saw the opening when the green giant overextended his weapon leaving his body open for an attack. Riaris started to go for it, but a swift elbow caused him to sway back and out of the way.

There wasn't a pause this time, and Riaris only moved away enough to save his face from a brutal elbow. He moved back in quickly, his arms held tightly against his body and his weapon tilted across his left shoulder and right hip. Riaris spun towards the other, and as he turned to face him, he quickly swung his blade out into a scoop, hooking one side of the blade under the male's left thigh and pulling up aggressively as he looked to flip him onto the mat.

Day of Season, year.

The elbow missed, but it had provided Favchean what he wanted, time to correct his mistake. His blood was pumping, and his mind was racing to try and stay ahead of the fight but due to his inexperience with this weapon it was having difficulty but it was exhilarating. Knowing that if they were using real blades he would have many cuts already, one or two probably disabling, Favchean gripped his weapon once more with two hands.

As Riaris moved in, Favchean brought his weapon up, anticipating a sweeping slash, unfortunately the world spun sideways in a dizzying motion until his shoulders contacted the mat with a loud meaty thud. For a tick or two, Favchean blinked once before he pushed himself up quickly, and rolled to his knees to the right to stand in one fluid motion. Somewhere Chealvan was chuckling, but Favchean pressed on. A forward thrust is given with the left side of his weapon, angling down though Favchean was already shorter then the other. However he didn't stop there, from that angle he swung the blade around to try and slash from the right, mostly expecting the other Akalak to block boht thrust and swing easily, however the Green Akalak was slowly pressing forward, hoping to press the Violet back giving him less room to maneuver.

Riaris smiled as the Akalak hit the ground, and gave a lazy swipe at his back to help get him moving again. The violet Akalak was really enjoying himself and he hoped that his new opponent was as well. His other opponent hadn't been too happy with being beaten and stormed off after one go. He spun his weapon in his hands, legs spread as he waited for the next attack.

"Don't hesitate.."

Favchean came in with a combo of strikes, and Riaris slipped back, swinging his blades right to left to block. The Attacks continued and the green hulk pushed him back even further. Turning his legs, Riaris pressed his weapon against that of his opponents as he had before when he attempted to push him back, only this time he used their closeness to turn them away from the wall. Once his back was clear of the confided space, he swung his blade downward taking a few jabs at Favchean's legs before he quickly pulled the weapon upward across the male's chest.

Favchean was grinning, a tight grin of concentration but a grin all the same. He tried to be aware of the violet male's movements, tried to absorb the placement of feet and the combos that his opponent used but it was difficult to do when he was trying to simultaneously slip past the other's guard while trying to keep his own guard up.

In other words, Favchean was having a grand old time even though sweat began to bead on his brow, and a small portion of his concentration had to be diverted to keeping his breathing calm and even. It takes energy to breath, and if he began to breath erratically then it would just take that much more. He was aware that Riaris had started to turn them, away from the neat little corner that Favchean was attempting to push him into. Until he was free of the entrapment and was free once more to press attacks.

Just like that Favchean was on the defensive again, managing to drop his weapon to swipe aside the thrusts at his legs, but did not get the other side up in time to parlay the thrust to his chest. A growl, not one of anger or frustration at the strike, but simple release of frustration at his own mistake, slipped from his lips but he did not stop. Instead he stepped forward and from the left, his dominant hand, his weapon dips low, sweeping across toward Riaris' tight abdomen. Whether he was successful or not, Favchean turned on his right leg, bringing up his left to try and deliver a blow to the Violet's chest in hopes to drive him back just a little..to give him time to regroup once again.

Riaris smiled, rotating his shoulders and flexing his muscles. It was smart to keep a poker face during a match. Allowing the opponent to see one's emotions or tale, was an easy way to lose a match. Riaris had him on the run, or at least back peddling. Winning wasn't the most important thing, but Riaris was going for it anyway. He had come in just for the exercise, but if he could defeat two opponents..

Favchean went on the attack again after blocking his strikes to return a few of his own. Riaris prepared himself for the next attack and lifted his sword to defend. A thought crossed his mind suddenly, and he decided that instead of only defending, he would counter. Riaris swung his blade around quickly, but he missed the low arching swing and took a punch to the gut. He made a low grunt as he was pushed back feeling the burn from where the weapon marked him.

The green giant turned his body and lifted his leg for a stiff kick. Luckily Riaris was able to turn his body away from him, just missing the kick. He tried his own awkward move then, and spun towards Favchean's back as he swung his blade into a hook again trying to sweep up his other foot.

With every block the violet Akalak made, Favchean felt the thrum of the vibration their weapons gave. Unused to using a larger weapon, the green male had to rely solely on his discipline in the unarmed combat and his dagger training. Some translated well, others not so well as Favchean learned. With every failed strike a little more is recorded in his mind, unable to stop and dissect the information now but perhaps later he could go over the sparring contest and think about every strategy that worked, that didn't work and why.

He was starting to feel the burn within his muscles, the soreness where Riaris' wooden blade had made contact with his body, but still he pressed on. Until he miss stepped and found himself facing the other with his weak side, the right, and watched as the Akalak swept his sword toward the green flesh of his leg. He tried to readjust his grip so that he could thrust downward but it was a moment too late and once more the green male found himself on the mat on his back.

Breathing a little more heavily, no where near a pant but it took a bit more concentration so that it wasn't a pant, Favchean laid his weapon aside before he rolled to the side to stand once more. Grinning, his hands raised up signalling defeat, though his face was no where near as stormy as the other had been when he had lost to the Violet Akalak.

"Well played my friend." Favchean offered amicably, running a hand over the shaven side of his head, rolling his shoulders before bending to retrieve his practice weapon. "I prefer my hands or a dagger, but I can see the merits of a larger blade."

And the Green giant went down. Riaris turned away from him, weapon lowered as he watched. Sweat slowly rolled down his face, chest, and back. His heart pumping fast and every muscle in him was alive and awake. This was the kind of spar that he enjoyed and he had been enjoying it so much that he hadn't realized that they had an audience. Others had paused or ended their session to watch the huge purple and green battle with two of the largest wooden blades the dojo had to offer.

Many knew of Riaris and the Akalak had trained in the dojo for years, where he later started to use the weapon that he carried now. They were surprised to see another arrive using the same weapon and the duel had been one not to miss. As Favchean stood up and admitted defeat, Riaris relaxed his body and stood to his full height. A hand raised and flipped his hair away from his eyes, and the violent skinned mammoth smiled to the other.

"A man of daggers. I enjoy the lakan myself, but I decided years ago to test my hand with a weapon completely different from that." He stepped forward and extended his hand in a gesture of good sportsmanship. "You fight well brother, we should go again sometime. Perhaps this time we can test dagger to lakan."
