AppearanceRace: Benshira
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Birthday: 1, Winter, 493
Birthplace: The Sandplains near the Olive Grove of Gohar (in Eyktol near Yehebah
)
Appearance: Amanya wears a deep brown, ankle length tunic graced by a rich saffron yellow shawl lined with intricate embroidery. However, she is some times known to don the colorful cloak of Benshiran men. Her hair, tucked constantly under her shawl is a deep red-brown, reminiscent of the thick clay used to build the great walls of Yahebah. Her eyes are like the ice in Avanthal, her mother tells her, and though she has only seen the dirty, dark ice in the city, she can imagine what the cold pale land of Aventhal must be like. When she laughs, her ice-eyes crinkle up, her full lips curve around her round, bejeweled nose and her whole body shakes with glee. Her slim wrists are decked with gold and silver bangles and her tiny feet nearly always seem to be a mess of dust, clay and strappy leather sandals. She is not tall in stature, but rather Pycon-like; standing barely over five feet high, and slim of figure, joined with her endless curiosity of the world makes her seem very much like a Pycon, indeed.
Character ConceptAmanya has never seen a Pycon, nor the city of Aventhal. In fact, she has only ever experienced the city of Yehebah and the surrounding deserts with her family. She thirsts for knowledge about the world and has a plan to go see it. Some day, she will become a famous tea-trader. She knows all of her family recipes by heart. Despite her hunger to travel far from Eyktol, Amanya can't help but be aloof when faced with strangers who visit Yehebah. She is not fearful, but rather, careful. When Amanya is in a situation where she feels at home, she can be very impulsive, often saying things without thinking, or losing focus and making mistakes on things she is working on. In her Tents, she is known for her enthusiasm for anything to do with percussion--timbal, drum, rhythm sticks. At a young age, she was trusted to mind the flocks, and thus became very skilled with a sling shot. She has since used that to hunt small game, thanking Yahal every time she can bring dinner home for her family.
Character HistoryAmanya is close with her family: her father, Luma, her mother, Rivka, and her sisters. She is the eldest sister in her family. Her next youngest sister, who is two years her junior, is named Chevda. Growing up, they were incredibly close. In 511, just two years ago, something terrible happened in Yehebah. While the family was in the city, trading cloth and livestock for other goods, as they often did, Chevda was caught in an act of prostitution. The punishment for prostitution in Yehebah is to brand the criminal on the tops of their hands or feet with snakes. Amanya, stricken with grief at the possibility of her sister's future becoming ruined, offered herself as a Kiban to the punishment. Amanya now wears the snake-brands on the tops of her feet in her sister's stead. It is for this reason that she keeps her feet deliberately dirty and covered with clay. This event fueled Amanya's desire to leave Eyktol even more. She began hunting and catching game, making teas and even singing for tips in the streets of Yehabah to make money. Since then, she has saved up 100 gold mizas, and plans to leave some time this year.
