The Hunger

As the corpse plunged into the deep of the lake a feeling of sadness washed over Vien. He hated wasting good food and he was still very hungry but he could understand the reasoning behind Miro getting rid of it. The extra weight would only hinder us in the long run. As Miro walked forward he requested Vien retrieve a Ravosala. As per request he went off to fetch a Ravosala which he guided to Miro's location. After the Ravosala picked Miro up they set off towards his home.

During the trip an awkward silence remained which allowed for Vien to think more in depth as to what he had gotten himself into. Miro seemed nice enough but after witnessing the spectacle from before he knew that Miro was strong and that he could not be trusted. Vien figured there was a catch for saving his life and he had no problems with coming up with whatever the mage wanted but some things were out of bounds even by his standards. Then there was the thought of Miro's ability to hypnotize people. Vien had never heard of hypnotism before but Miro's explanation scared him. Someone who could influence the mind was not someone to be trifled with. Yet that woman broke his spell. What had she done? Was it willpower or was it something else? Could he do it? All of the questions swirled in his mind as they rode but before he knew it they had reached their destination.

He broke from his revere and helped Miro out of the boat. The mage seemed tired and by all rights who would not be? He had taken out several thugs as well as took a very sharp kick to his leg. He would not be at full strength for awhile so it fell to Vien to help. After the fare was paid they made their way slowly to Miro's room; however, upon reaching it Vien was actually a little disappointed. A mage of Miro's talents seemed more than likely to have a nicer room yet this room was barely enough room to house them both.

" This is quite the place you have" Vien lied trying to be as polite as he could. "Here you lie on the bed and I'll rest here on the floor." he said as he started to help Miro towards the bed.

The Hunger

Miro rode silently and only judged Vien without making a move or sound. He could not see much, but was able to judge well by how he acted. Indeed the boy was able to listen, and did as he was asked without any fuss. And he seemed quite content to ride in peace as well, not acting nervous, which would likely end poorly. The best show of his current disposition came when he assisted the undead, who had indeed been struggling. It was not as if he would have ever asked, but the act of kindness was indeed well received. And onward to the small room they went.

However upon arrival it was apparent that Vien was disappointed. Not only that, but still seemed unaware of the Chained One's status as an undead. That would soon be remedied. "No Vien, it is not a nice place. It is cheap, and with good reason. The most money I would be willing to pay for a storage chest, but it has its charms. And you take the bed, as you will find it mostly unused. There are still some things you fail to understand." The wizard performed a rare show of trust and untied the sash holding his robe closed and began to remove the garb. He placed the metal robe on his desk along with his cloak and turned to reveal what was worn underneath.

Miro's sling and blackened arm were quite visible. He wore a white shirt and tan breeches, and on his right was Ender in his sealed form. The silver bracelet was motionless, without the ability to speak, but watching nonetheless. "Before I came to Ravok, I was an Alvad, a citizen of Alvadas. I may not look it, but I am a man of only 20 years as of this season. And this is not my original body. In Alvadas, there was a prophecy, one of a chosen hero. I was called to save the city, and in the process I lost my life. The reason I stand before you now is because of Uldr, god of the undead. He created this body for me, one enhanced beyond that of a normal undead. It is gifted with superb dexterity and the ability to heal quite well."

Though that was hardly the end of his story. There was still more to tell, and definitely more to be shown. "But even it wasn't enough to deal with one able to kill a master wizard such as myself. All Uldr could effectively do was save my soul from Dira. In order to deal with the threat to all of Alvadas, I had to sacrifice myself again." The wizard gestured towards his blackened arm and lifted his left pant leg. The same black that covered the entirety of his arm could be seen on just over half of Miro's leg. It extended down to his foot, claiming three of his toes. "I had to absorb the evil that threatened a cities worth of people. For it I was named hero, but I am now burdened with a disease that slowly claims my body."

Miro lifted his shirt as he stood at the far end of the room, finally able to get a clear look at the Symenestra. Under the shirt, the entire left side of the undead's chest and back were blackened, and it was apparent that the right side would be next. "It is an interesting debilitation, but exactly what one can expect when making a wish. It makes me no less skilled with my magic and ability to teach it. And that is exactly what I wish to do. You who are in need of saving may instead be one able to save. It would be so fortunate to be trained by a great hero who is no longer able to serve his cause."

But the wizard halted himself, though seemingly with some difficulty. There was still much he wished to say, but it could not come now. "There is still much that should be talked about, but I insist we wait for day. We both had an exciting day, and though I may not tire and need sleep as you living, I do enjoy my rest. I shall sit here and meditate. Clear the fog that clouds my mind and focus on the events to come." The Chained One was feeling a rush of potential for satisfying his urges. It was hard to keep from pushing Vien further. "No, indeed you need your rest. Tomorrow we will discuss something very important. Not only that, but I shall see to it that any of your needs are taken care of. You can expect to be seeing quite a bit of me from now on."

The Hunger

Postby Vien Lotus on January 7th, 2014, 5:16 am

As Miro gave a brief look into his history, Vien stood and listened quietly. As he listened he tried very hard to conceal his emotions. Miro claimed himself as a hero, yet would a hero murder people in cold blood as Vien himself does? If so does that mean the Vien could be labeled as a hero? He doubted it and even if someone considered him a hero, well he would change their mind. To Vien the true heroes of this world were the ones that people would never know about; however, he allowed himself to break away from his thoughts and listen to Miro's story once more.

As Miro revealed himself as an undead, Vien became uneasy. He had never been face to face with a real undead before and it did not sit well that his saving grace was one; however, he put personal feelings aside for the moment and continued to listen as he recanted his sacrifice not once but twice now. Miro even went as far as to reveal the scars that consumed his body. The black that consumed half of his body was supposed to be the evil he destroyed. Vien, wondered if it eventually kill him, but if this god was involved he highly doubted it. Especially one such as Uldr, whom is labelled the god of the undead. It made Vien shiver a tad at the thought of such a god actually existing in this world. Then again nothing seemed to surprise Vien anymore.

It was at the end of his tale that Vien finally seemed to stir. Miro had offered his bed, and Vien could not refuse such a offering fearing that if he refused Miro might lash out in rage. To Vien's knowledge he had not seen Miro's rage and he planned on keeping it that way as long as possible. So he politely thanked Miro and made his way to the bed. He laid down but as a precaution he made sure that he was facing Miro not wanting to give him his back. At least not until he could trust him, although it was doubtful that Vien could ever fully trust an undead. Vien laided there not really wanting to go to sleep but his body insisted that he get some rest so he unfortunately fell into an uneasy sleep without really wanting to.

Notes

Vien, try and keep an eye out for grammar mistakes, including tense changes. Also, avoid using sayings like “Lord only knew…”, since there isn’t one god in Mizahar… though you could insert the name of Vien’s preferred god, for example “Rhysol only knew…” etc. Also, don’t use hours or minutes or seconds, in Mizahar they’re bells and chimes and ticks, respectively. Miro, same thing with the tenses… you slipped a few times.

Wait… how did that woman know the person Vien killed was her sister? I mean… there wasn’t a description given or anything. Just the way she died, which might be vaguely common in Sunberth…

On a more humorous note, when writing Alea’s grade I put ‘Alea’ at first instead of acting. So you nearly got ‘Alea – 1’ XD (just thought I’d share that)

Miro, I was slightly confused on which magics you used, and when. I’m pretty sure there was some leeching in there, but no auristics that I noticed…
