A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

510 AV 25th day of summer

“Valideen….If you really need to do this….then I suggest you go to Syliras….Not to find leads…but maybe the knights there would be willing to help you find your sister….other than that….good luck…my friend.”
Valideen replayed his friends words for the last time, as he had told himself it was the last, for the past three times. His friend, Dyphosel, had always been one to play things safe, never fighting, never doing dangerous things like diving from cliff faces into pools, so naturally he would be opposed to allowing Valideen to leave to chase after the same people that took his sister, and almost him along with her.
But Valideen was much too stubborn, and too grieved to even think about backing down, so he had said his goodbye’s and been on his merry way.

It had been about three or four days since he left home, and he had woken this morning with only a few hours of sleep, packed his tent and belongings again, and now, was simply waiting for the sun to rise before he began his journey…even though he despised the sun’s rays.

Valideen sat in a clearing, about fifty feet from his horse Gaer, the beastie had quite the mean streak in him, in the middle of the night if he could reach Valideen he’d nibble on his hair and pull him about 3 feet.. But now the horse was tied and far enough away that he couldn’t interrupt him, although he wasn’t trying to accomplish something very important at the moment.
His eyes were closed and his breathing stable, he’d heard meditation was a good way to clear ones mind, and he’d been needing that for quite a while. He kept his breathing regular, gradually slowing it, getting his body under control, then he tried to clear his mind, but with each thought he cleared, another wave seemed to flow about like some howling storm.

Valideen tried again, with less and less success, even starting to frustrate himself, which only made things worse.
“What a waste of time….how come people even do this!?” Valideen said to himself, before resigning himself to try again, one last time.
In his mind he could see his sister again, happy and just peaceful how she usually was, he smiled at the warmth he could feel from it, he missed her, and he had to get her back. As his mind wandered, it slowly began to clear, and follow a single solid flow, determination to his purpose. Finally after what had seemed to be many chimes his mind was clear, or at least focused.

Valideen smiled and reached into a side pouch, pulling a canvas out and a piece of charcoal, laying the canvas out onto the ground he began to sketch, light outlines at first to show the general outline of an arm, though there was something strange about it’s shape, that could have been either intentional, or a horrible mistake.
“Lets see what I can cook up today…..” Valideen smirked as he began swifter strokes, filling in the outline at the forearm with a bone at first, very lightly he moved to flesh out the muscle groups, and then the tendons, slowly moving down the arm to the hand, which he had made three fingered, and possessed long, thick, black talons. He made only small efforts to shading his design, and compared it to his own arm, of course, comparing different muscle groups would have been a difficult task without removing his arm altogether.
“Proportions seem alright….slightly longer than my arm if I sized it right, but also a slightly less width to it…maybe this one will actually work…” He grinned.
“Step two!”

Valideen took a quill and ink from his pack and drew on the corner of the canvas, making an almost perfect circle, though it needed work…and then making a half X from the top two corners of the circle, meeting in the middle, and then making one line from the middle down to the bottom of the circle.
“Alrighty……that glyph looks terrible even for me……shapes all wrong…” Valideen sighed and grabbed another thing from his pack, a book.
He began reading it, from the midpoint of the book, he read for almost 6 chimes before setting it down and starting the same glyph again, though this time he put his wrist in the center and held the quill between two fingers and rotated around it, making a much more stable circle, and then filling the three lines in.
“Apparently the old Sage had some good ideas on Glyphing….” He shook his head before going over the same glyph two more times to make the ink wet, and then pressed his right palm onto it.

When Valideen lifted his palm and could see the glyph had transferred to his hand by the excess ink he smiled.
“Ok….now….the hardest part….” Valideen sighed heavily and stood, relaxing his mind for a few more moments before looking at his sketch again and pulling the sleeves of his clothes up above the elbows.

Then, in a sudden and disgusting display he began to move the muscles and bones in his right arm using nothing more than his left hand and the glyph that he could feel on his palm moving his body’s Djed through his arm. Morphing wasn’t a painful thing, but it did feel very strange and Valideen almost wanted to breakdown laughing because it tickled him so much. But then, he wasn’t sure what could happen if he stopped now. He moved the elbow slightly and then focused on moving the individual muscle groups to attach to new tendons and his three fingers, then he pushed his natural claws together, and stretched them.

Finally his flesh settled into it’s new position he compared his new right arm to his left, it was definitely longer and only a little thinner. It didn’t seem to throw off his balance too much either, but then again he wasn’t about to try flipping around with it until he knew it was stable. He waved his arm back and forth, the feeling was as if he wasn’t in his own arm anymore, but something much more powerful, then he tried to move his fingers, the three of them, they worked elegantly, with one exception.
“Ah! C’mon!” Valideen shouted at his dysfunctional thumb, which wouldn’t move more than half an inch in any direction, and every time he tried to use it he could feel that somewhere inside his arm there were one or two muscles that didn’t connect to the thumb’s tendons.

“Well….I guess this is still a good result..” Valideen shrugged and laughed at himself, before allowing his arm to slowly revert to it’s natural state, this time letting himself laugh from the tickling sensation.

~End~ Hope it’s alright!! :D
