19, Winter, 513 A thick coat squeezed tight around the miniscule frame of the Inarta girl, as her feet crunched in the snow. She was no stranger to the frigid air and icy surfaces, though Avanthal itself was a mystery to her. The streets and walkways were all alien. Her mind, now clear from the exhaustion of combating the sea. It was warmer, now that her clothes were dry and the spray of the ocean was no longer biting her like a tiny school of piranhas. She was still cold, of course, but a few days of recovery and she thought it was about time to get out and explore what the city had to offer. She was in a new world, and she best make the most of it. Kena's bright green eyes peaked out from the thick long coat that had weathered the trip from Wind Reach, her mouth and nose buried down into the collar. She strode out looking at the various buildings, curious as to what secrets the frosted boxes hid away from everyone. The air was crisp and smelled of salt, though that could have just been the sea's caress left buried in the fabrics of her coat. She paused, turning into an alley between two buildings, where the northern winds would not pursue her. She took a moment to look up, and take in her surroundings more carefully. There were no great crowds or gatherings. Her home city was quite the opposite, constantly bustling and buzzing with camaraderie. Precious few signs of life were out and about. |
