A walk through the Streets

Postby Kena on February 1st, 2014, 11:49 pm

19, Winter, 513

A thick coat squeezed tight around the miniscule frame of the Inarta girl, as her feet crunched in the snow. She was no stranger to the frigid air and icy surfaces, though Avanthal itself was a mystery to her. The streets and walkways were all alien. Her mind, now clear from the exhaustion of combating the sea. It was warmer, now that her clothes were dry and the spray of the ocean was no longer biting her like a tiny school of piranhas. She was still cold, of course, but a few days of recovery and she thought it was about time to get out and explore what the city had to offer. She was in a new world, and she best make the most of it.

Kena's bright green eyes peaked out from the thick long coat that had weathered the trip from Wind Reach, her mouth and nose buried down into the collar. She strode out looking at the various buildings, curious as to what secrets the frosted boxes hid away from everyone. The air was crisp and smelled of salt, though that could have just been the sea's caress left buried in the fabrics of her coat. She paused, turning into an alley between two buildings, where the northern winds would not pursue her. She took a moment to look up, and take in her surroundings more carefully. There were no great crowds or gatherings. Her home city was quite the opposite, constantly bustling and buzzing with camaraderie. Precious few signs of life were out and about.

Snowdrop marched in the snow happily. Her hands were swinging from back and forth. Today she felt happy and wonderful. Bruce jumped and played in the snow, but he always kept up with his Snowdrop. Little puffs of heat escaped her lips. She let out a giggle and blew out more are. She started to laugh out harder drawing attention to herself that was out and about.

Snowdrop looked down with a blush and scurried ahead a little. Something caught her eyes that were bright. It was a woman with bright orange hair. She blinked and almost did a double take. An idea decided to worm it's way into her childish mind. Time to investigate!

A wee little pup playing in the snow had first caught the attention of the girl in the alleyway. Her emerald eyes traced from the adorable creature to the feet of whom could only be presumed to be its companion. The vantha appeared to have been astounded by the presence of the red head. Kena looked back at the cute beastie prancing about in the snow.

She smiled wide, and said, "Awwww! I like!" The Inarta girl stepped forwards, shortening the gap between herself and the duo of the snow. She looked up to Snowdrops, and asked, "Your's?" pointing towards the playful pup. Her accent spilled through every word, even though she barely spoke.

A walk through the Streets

The wolf's black, wet nose poked the air, sniffing. He let his head drop back to it's original spot as he continued padding along the streets of the winter wonderland. Ember eyes scanned the area as the male walked, his white tail swaying from side to side. Suddenly the scent of a another being filled his nostrils. This smell was not familiar in any way to the Kelvic, what could it be?? Curiosity filled him entirely. He quickly but quietly headed towards the source of the aroma, trying his best not to be seen. Not long after, the Kelvic was quietly and slowly approaching a female from behind whom hid her face in the collar of a thick coat. Was she the source?? The wolf had wondered, then stopped for a moment and poked the air with his jet black nose once more. He sniffed about one or two times then realized that this woman was the source of the scent. Two other beings then appeared, and the white arctic wolf quickly stepped behind a large ,frost covered crate.

Snowdrop stared at the foreigner for a whole chime. Her brain was trying to descript what she was saying. When her brain finally clicked about with it, recognizing that it was common she was saying. "Oh yes he's mine," Snowdrop looked away a little bit. The foreigner's accent was thick and she couldn't quite tell what she was saying. She looked down at the snow covered ground, her bangs covering her eyes, and noticed Bruce growling. His muzzle was pulled back, showing all his baby canine teeth. His paws were set apart almost in a defensive stance.

Bruce didn't who this person was and he didn't like the smell that was protruding around her. It was her scent that bothered him. The puppy didn't know her so saw her as an enemy. He snarled and stood in front of his Snowdrop.

"Oh, you are quite adorable, aren't you?" stated the girl in her native tongue, and shifted herself down to crouch before the baby beasty. She stretched her hand forward, palm facing the sky. She kept her hand low and available for the little pup o start smelling and perhaps getting used to. Kena would wait for the pup to stop growling before reaching forward to scratch behind his wee bitty ears.

She looked up at the dog's companion. The inarta rose to her full height once more, still dwarfed by the vantha before her. "Sorry. I not good at talk," Kena attempted, finding hardly the right words to provide for her friend. She tried to articulate the words as bet she could, of course her accent still weighing heavily in her voice. She brought her palm to her chest, and stated her name, "Kena." The motion was shortly followed by gesturing to her new found conversation companion. "You?"

Bruce sniffed the girl's hand and just started at the red head. He didn't like her still and just sat at Snowdrop's feet. The puppy started up at the foreigner with a look of boredom and almost sighed through his snout. She is of no interest to me. He layed his head on Snowdrop's feet, patiently wait for his master to go.

Snowdrop on the other head just stared at the girl blankly. This foreigner was how could she put strange. She was quite shorter than her. Snowdrop tilted her slightly in a questioning matter. What did this woman just say to me. She better not said anything mean, but by the way she said it, it looked like she was excited. She mulled over the meaning of the others words in her head, oblivious of the exchange that was going on below her.

The strange woman then rose back up and said sorry in a thick accent. Snowdrop almost wanted to sigh as her brain tried to work what the non-Vantha was saying. It obviously common. "Kenna," the woman gestured to herself. Snowdrop finally realized what was going on, "my name is Snowdrop," she smiled.

" Nice to meet you", Kena replied, stretching her hand out in greeting to Snowdrops. She smiled to the Vantha sincerely, before asking, "Do you know here? I am new, not know here." Her brow furrowed as she searched for the right words to try and explain her situation, but couldn 't find them. She looked back to her conversation companion and said, "I came from home, and lost." She continued, now nodding in a sudden shift to an upbeat attitude," But I make good of it."

Kena's sorrow of being separated from her people was melting away now that she was talking to someone. In her room, while recovering from the trek from the east, she had thought and cried about her home. A new friend was exactly what she needed at this point. Depression and loneliness were a very powerful combination, and Kena had been afflicted by both these past few days. Kena pondered more, letting her curiosity on this new person bounce between questions. Did she, too, hunt? Does she tend to dogs as my people tend to birds? Does she do archery as well?

She shook Kena's hand and grinned. She blinked twice as the question. Her brain was getting better at decoding what the other was saying. So she was new her and dent exactly know where she's at. She nodded her head in silent determination to help her new friend, she decided to claim Kena as her friend for now. "Well you're at the Avanthal Dock right now," thinking aloud and it's goo to hear that you are doing alright.

Snowdrop walked next to her and put her arm around the smaller female, which was amusing to the Vantha. Most were taller than her, but she wasn't going to question her height. She smiled and squeezed her other shoulder. "I don't know if I'm the first person or not, but welcome to Avanthal," she all but shouted to the freezing air. Taking Kena's wrist she started to lead her to the center of the center. She looked back momentarily, "where would you like to go."

Partially dwarfed by the other woman, she looked around to the gestured region. This was Avanthal. In a brief moment, she found herself trekking behind the vantha's trail of enthusiasm. As they continued, she replied, "Uhm... I not know?" She tried to keep track of where they were going, keeping mental notes on the turns they took but she wasn't sure how far they went. "What is fun?" she enquired, both wishing to know more of her newfound companion and the city.

Kena, deep down, wanted to be out discovering the wildlife, but the city itself was cold, which made her fear just how freezing the lands outside the city truly were. Kena had only been in Wind Reach previously, and didn't know exactly how the weather around other cities would work. She had grown used to her own region, and the displacement had yet to teach her how different things were.
