Solo Introduction to magic

[Sinoa]

Sinoa 4th day of Winter, 513 AV After being asked many personal questions a few days ago, Sinoa was finally permitted to start her studies in the magical arts. Despite usually being impatient, Sinoa wasn't as disappointed at the though of having to take an introductory course before the actual practical courses would start. Sinoa didn't know very much about magic, only that it was something that could cause strange affects, like tricking a ghost into thinking a flute had the power to make others dance uncontrollably. Sinoa had only learned through the earlier interrogation that magic can potentially be dangerous and her eagerness to learn learn magic safety may have been what convinced the University Faculty to let her in. They also seemed to react favourably to Sinoa's desperate need to protect others and feel competent. However, the interview still took far longer than Sinoa Had hoped due to Sinoa's naivety on the subject. Many of the questions were ones that she had absolutely no idea about and it left concerned frowns on their faces when the pycon failed to answer them. With all the sour faces on the tall folks during the interview process Sinoa was sure they would deny her entry but those worries faded when she read the acceptance note that was jammed through her window. The note read that both of Sinoas magic classes would be back to back and start the following day, first introduction to Magic 101, followed by The Dangers of Overgiving. That day was spent celebrating with many dances and what the tall folk call cake, which was of course, was made entirely of clay. Sinoa was very excited but also a touch nervous especially of the dangers of Overgiving class, which sounded like a pretty dreary class. Sinoa showed up early for her first class and waited outside the door for her professor to arrive. After a long wait the professor showed up followed by a handful of students and class began. The professor started by begrudgingly talking about the energy that resides in everything called Djed. Apparently The word Djed means "backbone" and is what gives everything it's unique characteristics and is what is used to preform magic by altering Djed in a way to suit your needs. The Professor went on to describe the different types of magic, them being Personal magic which uses ones own Djed, World magic which manipulates Djed around them using ancient crafts and Gnosis which are gifts given to mortals by the gods. This information bored most of the class but Sinoa found it very fascinating. She was still very confused about the back bone part as she had no idea what bones were but otherwise absorbed the information like a diligent sponge. The Professor talked more about the history of magic and the names of significant mages who founded important magical practices. The next class was The Dangers of Overgiving, and was taught by the same teacher and was filled with the same students. This class mostly consisted of the teacher talking about how serious and dangerous magic can be if not used carefully. This was followed by the passing of drawings of some of the fates that can befall those that take djed to lightly. The images didn't seem too horrifying to Sinoa because of her unique physiology but many of the tall folk seemed uncomfortable. One tall folk even had to leave after looking at a practically detailed drawing of a particularly gruesome scene. While sinoa wasn't the best at relating to the concerns or emotions of tall folks even she understood that these were meant to be disturbing and would do every thing possible to make sure she stayed in control of her Djed.
