Name: Benalder, AKA Ben or Ben “The Blade”
Race: Human
Age: 23; born sometime in the Fall of 487
Concept
Benalder is a mercenary and a rogue. He works for coin, not for causes, and does the shadowy work of richer and more powerful men (and women).
Personality
Benalder lives his life based on two three word maxims. The first is, “All men die.” That means a couple things to him, and best describes who he is. On the one side, Benalder likes to enjoy life, with all its vices. This does not prevent him from planning for the future, however. Quite the opposite, Benalder has grown to be a meticulous planner, and is cold and cunning when it comes to such. The other side is that profit can be made from a man’s death, whether it is a wager in the Blood Pits, or a handful of coins paid for a quiet murder in the night. The second maxim is, “Knowledge is Power.” Over his short life, he has learned that information can be worth a lot to the right person, and he seeks to capitalize on that fact. The more knowledge and information he can hoard, the longer he’s likely to live. And Benalder likes living.
Benalder is neither friendly, nor trusting, having seen his older brother and mentor killed by a supposed friend. The experience jaded him, and he is quite paranoid most of the time. He is not squeamish about killing, maiming, or torturing others, and has done so on many occasions. He also comes off as proud and confident, looking down on others like they are just pawns in a game of his.
Physical Attributes
Benalder’s looks are remarkably plain. He stands six foot tall, and weighs just over two hundred pounds. He is not skinny, fat, or heavily muscled, but is corded with the lean muscle common to natives of Sunberth. The muscle that is necessary to live, or even thrive, in such a violent place. His has short brown hair, and plain brown eyes that take in everything. He has all his teeth and they are mostly straight, with the exception of one that is slightly behind its neighbors. His voice is as near bass as it could be while still being a baritone. He has dozens of small scars indicative of a rough childhood in Sunberth, but no major identifying marks.
Benalder always wears dark colors, be it gray, green, blue, brown or black. He prefers light, quiet armor, and wears a long, broad dagger where ever he goes, as well as numerous throwing daggers.
