Appearance

Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Birthday: 12th day of Summer, 491
Birthplace: Lhavit

Appearance: People often comment that Malachs most striking feature are his vibrant green eyes. His light complexion and dark, almost jet black hair help in only making them more noticeable. His facial features have been described as elegant, with a long thing nose, strong jaw and high cheekbones.

Malach is moderately tall, standing at 5'11, and slim. That is not to say that he is scrawny; indeed, his muscles are well defined, particularly those of his arms. He would be described as lean, maintained but not athletic. His chest is lightly covered in dark hair, as are his arms and legs, and he maintains his face clean shaven.

Malach can usually be found wearing a pair of dark trousers, along with a long sleeved shirt that can be buttoned up the middle, sleeves rolled up, and the top buttons loose. While working in his fathers shop he often wears a leather apron, on his left wrist a plain leather band, stained dark rests, and around his neck hangs one of his mother's last pieces, a simple yet elegant pendant; a small dark blue stone framed in wrought iron.

Character Concept

Malach is a craftsmen by trade, and as such leans more towards the creative side, often he can be found drawing on a piece of parchment, planning out his next project or creating a design on a piece that he is working on. He presents a reserved and somewhat guarded exterior, preferring to listen and observe before speaking. Not one to open up to strangers, he is nerveless kind and lighthearted, and any one who befriends him can count on a lifelong friendship.

His soft spoken demeanor should not be construed as lethargy. Malach takes great pride in his work, and is ambitious to increase in skill and renown. He loves his father, but the last thing that he wants to do is be stuck in their shop for the rest of his life. He has delved into the arcane, developing some skill in auristics to better improve his work, a fact that he keeps hidden. He is curious about how far auristics can take him, and wonders if there are other disciplines that he could harness.

Character History

Malach is the only child of two human parents, being born and raised in Lhavit. Being the owners of thier own shop, his parents had managed to live a comfortable, if common life. His father worked primarily doing pieces and any order that pertained to blacksmithing, while his mother took care of the more delicate work, such as jewelry. At first he would only help in small ways, carrying things around, cleaning the shop, or any other small task that needed done, but as soon as he was old enough, His father taught him how to work with wood. It was his philosophy that they should diversify into different fields of craftsmanship, to best compliment each other. And so it was, for many years; they would work, combining their talents when required, and working on individual pieces when not.

When Malach was 17, his mother became ill. The healers did what they could, extending her time, easing her pain, and making her more comfortable, but as they tend to say "You cannot stop the inevitable, only delay it", she passed away a year later. His father took it the hardest, closing the shop and refusing to work. It wasn't until they began to run out of food and money, did Malach finally do something. He went himself and opened the shop, dusted all the tools and the items, and began working by himself, trying to make ends meet. A few days later, his father realized what he was doing, returned to the shop, and after a brief moment and without saying a word, began working once more.

Since then they have carried on with life, although in a somewhat more somber fashion. Malach took on more responsibilities, both at home and at the shop, taking care of his aging father who, while no longer striken with grief, has not yet fully returned to his former self.

Although the the death of his mother saddened him deeply, the need for food and money forced him to face deaths finality, and has come to accept her passing. The moment that he often attributes to his emotional maturity was when he returned to the shop to open it. While cleaning his mothers work station, he found an unfinished piece. It was a pendant that she had been working on before she became ill and could no longer work, originally intended to be part of an elaborate necklace. While looking at the piece, he mused over his mothers fate, how she started on this piece but is now unable to finish it. As a result of that experience, Malach has developed some sort of fascination with the god of fate, Lhex.

He currently wares the pendant around his neck.
