Appearance: Roane has a certain frailty about her face, the way her bones are shaped and how her eyebrows raise when she's listening. However, once her eyes are reached there is no doubt that she is a strong young woman. When angry, the brown-haired girl's lips press together in a line, the only sign there is. When joyful, her chocolate eyes light up and a faint smile can be seen. When troubled, her eyebrows dip towards the bridge of her dainty nose, which scrunches up.

Roane is an average-sized human. She stands around 5'6ft (1.67m) and weighs roughly 135lbs (61.2g). Her body is not obviously muscled, although if one watches for more than a moment you can see she can easily pull her weight. She has brown hair and eyes as well as creamy skin. Roane's breasts are almost nonexistent. Like her hooves, her nails are tough and difficult to break. However, she keeps them short so they won't crack. Along with the toughness of her hooves carried over, Roane has very horse-like teeth, especially her incisors and molars.

As a horse, Roane stands to be fifteen hands at the shoulder, or five feet (1.5m). She weighs in at a little more than 1300lbs (589.6kg). Her mane is black with striking white locks. Her tail contains only the white. Roane's coat appears as though someone took the night and crafted a horse out of it, then proceeded to splash ink the color of Avanthalian snow over the hide. Her muscles are well-developed, especially around the shoulders and thighs.

Character Concept

Roane is a woman of few words, preferring to let her body language do the talking. She will speak only when necessary, and even then her low voice is hard to understand. Speech is never her priority, since she'd rather work first and talk later. Should one try to communicate with her she will simply give them a 'look' that tells them she doesn't want to talk right now. It isn't very intimidating, which is bad for her since people continue to speak even after she gives them the 'look'.

Character History

Born in Syliras to a family of farmers, with her mother a bovine Kelvic bonded to her father, she was accustomed to hard work. Her parents gladly hitched her to a plow. She would pull the plow and aid in harvesting the crops for two years before she would experience a true disaster.

During the Djed Storm of 512, her family was one of the last ones to enter the city before the gates were sealed. It took a good amount of her father's willpower and strength to keep both Roane and her mother calm during the storm. They could hear it raging outside of the caves, and were prone to panic attacks. When the storm finally subsided, the horse Kelvic grew calm. However, when she realized that they were to stay underground for another two weeks, she immediately fell into a pit of despair. She wanted to be outside, where the wind was blowing and she could run.

As they emerged from the darkness of the caves, Roane realized that she wasn't going to be running free for a while. The year's wheat harvest was destroyed, and although the soil had been saved it was going to be a hard winter. Food was scarce already. There would be a lot of sweat and blood shed in her family's struggle to rebuild. Being a farmer was difficult in times like these.

As she grew and matured, the young Kelvic found it harder to resist the pull of finding a bondmate. Each day she would grow more and more irritable, or stay out just before sunset in the Wildlands or out in the fields. Finally she discussed this with her parents and they were unhappy to see her go. However, they did allow her to depart Syliras.

On her last day in her birthplace, Roane's mother gave her a pair of black silk gloves. Her mother was in tears, gently folding and placing the gloves into the bags slung over her horse back. Roane flicked her tail and touched her mother's wet face with the white hairs, snorting comfortingly.

After the goodbyes, Roane stepped out of Syliras and set off on the Kabrin Road, making her way towards Zeltiva and finally relieving the urge to travel.
