It was a cool and crisp morning when Ysgraam awoke from a nightmare in his tent a little outside the city gates. His awful dreams had been getting far more frequent than they used to be, and that bothered him as he sat upright, his heart pounding, from his bedroll. Perhaps it was a sign. Perhaps it was his mind deteriorating. He knew he'd never know until it was too late, however, and at that, he slid out of his tent. Standing, he felt his back and knees pop, which both hurt and felt relieving at the same time. Goodness, my age is catching up with me.. he thought. He strapped the pouch that held his money on his waist, fixed his beard and hair, put on his backpack, and then set out. It was a short walk to the gates of Riverfall, and the walk, he knew, would do him some good.
He walked slowly, in his usual manner, and gave a nod to the guards as he received another scroll from them and passed into the city. The smell from the flowers overcame his senses, as well as the beauty of the gardens. Such a sensory overload would normally be seen as a bother to others, but to him, it was warmly welcomed. He walked west, then took a turn north. His destination was "The Almond Blossom" tea house, a place he had been recommended to go by the locals. He did, in fact, enjoy a good tea, and it would relax him greatly to have a nice cup' to be able to let all his worries fade for a few would have a tremendous effect on his morale. He pressed forward, seeing the final left turn ahead in the street that would take him to his destination.
Suddenly, a push came from behind, and next, a man was seen running ahead of him with something in his hand. Looking down, Charlemagne became flabbergasted. The bugger got off with my money, he thought as he stood there in shock, just my luck... He hung his head, and knew what he had to do. He cried out, "Help! Help! I've been robbed," in hopes to gain the attention of a good individual. His only hope was that the thief would be caught before his money was put to improper use.
