Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

It was a cool and crisp morning when Ysgraam awoke from a nightmare in his tent a little outside the city gates. His awful dreams had been getting far more frequent than they used to be, and that bothered him as he sat upright, his heart pounding, from his bedroll. Perhaps it was a sign. Perhaps it was his mind deteriorating. He knew he'd never know until it was too late, however, and at that, he slid out of his tent. Standing, he felt his back and knees pop, which both hurt and felt relieving at the same time. Goodness, my age is catching up with me.. he thought. He strapped the pouch that held his money on his waist, fixed his beard and hair, put on his backpack, and then set out. It was a short walk to the gates of Riverfall, and the walk, he knew, would do him some good.

He walked slowly, in his usual manner, and gave a nod to the guards as he received another scroll from them and passed into the city. The smell from the flowers overcame his senses, as well as the beauty of the gardens. Such a sensory overload would normally be seen as a bother to others, but to him, it was warmly welcomed. He walked west, then took a turn north. His destination was "The Almond Blossom" tea house, a place he had been recommended to go by the locals. He did, in fact, enjoy a good tea, and it would relax him greatly to have a nice cup' to be able to let all his worries fade for a few would have a tremendous effect on his morale. He pressed forward, seeing the final left turn ahead in the street that would take him to his destination.

Suddenly, a push came from behind, and next, a man was seen running ahead of him with something in his hand. Looking down, Charlemagne became flabbergasted. The bugger got off with my money, he thought as he stood there in shock, just my luck... He hung his head, and knew what he had to do. He cried out, "Help! Help! I've been robbed," in hopes to gain the attention of a good individual. His only hope was that the thief would be caught before his money was put to improper use.

Thief of Virtue

The Ethaefal walked out from her cottage, still trying to stay awake, shaking her head to try to snap out of it. She walked to the market, ignoring the glances she got from the other people, instead smelling the baked scent of fresh new pastries, though she didn't really have to eat. She looked upwards at the sun and sighed, wishing she was still up there, where people didn't stare at her.

She kept walking to the market where the stares were abundant, and she sighed, as she walked to a weapon stall. The girl who worked there looked curiously at her, and she just said, " 20 crossbow bolts. How much?" The girl answered, " 2 gm. " She nodded and took the bolts, giving 2 gold mizas, when she realized there wasn't much else money. She thanked the girl and left, looking at her bag, realizing almost half her money was gone.

"Son of a.." She whispered. She looked around and saw a man running off in full black clothes. She rolled her eyes, as she took off after him. She never really understood why thieves wore black clothes- wouldn't you want to mix with the crowd, instead of standing out like a sore thumb? "Stop running, you-" The man kept going, and even had the nerve to get more from another man, an elderly one.

She kept running after him in annoyance, trying to guess where he was going.

He began to walk back to his tent, saddened by the fact that none even attempted to come to his aid. His head was cast down and he shuffled slowly down the street. He passed by the marketplace, not paying any particular attention as to what it had in it at first glance. However, he did let his curiosity get the better of him, and he turned back around and decided to take a quick stroll through, just to see the wares.

He was knocked to the ground out of the blue by a massive (at least compared to him) figure running out of the marketplace. Gah, I should have been watching he thought as he hit the ground.Damn, my back hurts now... Ugh.. Come on. Get up. Fight through the pain. He promptly stood up and brushed himself off, turning to see the six foot tall figure still running after whatever it was running after. Perhaps the thief had gotten it's money, too. Nevertheless, he yelled out a quick "SORRY" to the person who had knocked him down, both to get their attention, and to publicly apologize for being in the way.

She ignored- well rather, didn't hear the sorry. It mostly just melted into the background. Usually she would notice and shout, “IT WAS MY FAULT, SORRY” to the man, but when she was focusing on the man. The man was struggling to keep going, some people not knowing that they were blocking the man’s way- which was perfectly fine with her. She tried to dodge the people as quick as she could, muttering excuse me quickly. The thief was almost an arm’s length away, and she took a big step, holding onto his jacket tightly. “Don’t keep moving, you son of a-” The thief pulled away, trying to run off again, which he did with a small amused laugh. She growled, gritting her teeth as she followed again, and he ran off, managing to get away and lose her.

She paused, looking around, anger written on her face. She couldn't really do anything- she couldn't track, or do anything, besides guessing perhaps the man was later going to be in a tavern, drinking with her money. She sighed and sat on a abandoned chair, looking towards the ground, trying to clear her head and think. Even if she did try, it was a little chance she could come upon him again. She close her eyes, refusing to give up. If I was him, what would she do? Go to the tavern with her fellow thieves? She sighed. She didn't know anything about thieves or how they went. She just knew they stole money.

Well that sucked he thought to himself as he stood in shock from what just happened. He watched the figure that had knocked him down chase another, catch the individual, then lose it's grip, freeing the person. A tad flabbergasted, he had no clue how to react. He did, however, see, now getting a better look at the figure, that it was a woman that had knocked him over while chasing someone. Now that the scene had died down, she just stood there.

He began to walk her way. When he was behind her, he spoke in his timid voice, "Miss, are you alright? Can I help you at all?"

She looked at him, and shrugged. What did he think, about how she felt? "I'm not feeling too good. I just got my mizas stolen." She says dryly. "You could help me get my mizas back." She smiled. She noticed the man didn't stare at her like the others did, which was good for her. When the other Rivarians stared at her, she felt like she didn't mix in ( well, she didn't, but still). "I'm guessing he'll be in a tavern tonight, partying with his friends. If not.." She shrugged. "I don't know." She sighed.

He was shocked at hearing that she just had her mizas stolen.
"Why, the same thing happened to me literally just a few minutes ago!" he said, shyly, his eyes cast down to the ground. He cannot believe the cunning the thief had, to steal from two people in quite rapid succession successfully.

"I...I really don't know what bit of help I could be on getting our money back, however, I could try. Just...Tell me what you need me to do. I've studied people, and I know the way they work. Thieves are notorious for blowing their most recent steal on whatever items they need as soon as possible. Unless the thief belongs to a guild, that is. If that's the case, then that's where he's headed. If he's like any other thief I've met, so long as he's solo, he'll be at a tavern tonight, so I suggest we scope out all the taverns in the city and wait till night, then go around to each one until we find the bastard."
