Lab 13-J (Artifact Research)

Located deep within the Cavern's, Lab 13-J is one of the most highly furnished labs in all of Sahova. The lab itself was built in late Summer of 513 AV, after its young master Thelma Jenkins reached higher rankings within the political structure. This lab is fully equipped for the art of Magecraft, and in addition it has facilities for the study of Alchemy and Animation as well. There are 3 adjoining caverns that lead to Thelma's own personal bed chambers, one chamber for an apprentice to sleep in which is lightly furnished with a bed, a small chest and a desk, and the third chamber is hidden behind a thick iron door reinforced by magical means. Only Thelma knows what is behind it, and she remains tight lipped on the subject.

This lab was created for the soul purpose of researching the art of Artifact creation. Because of the dangers it was placed in the lower parts of the Caverns, away from other labs who might become caught up in any failed experiments. The walls are lined with glyphs and shields several layers thick which are tasked to contain any explosions within the cavern instead of allowing them to burst from Lab 13-J and cause harm to any others in the area. The books that line the shelves in the corner of the lab are a collection of both ancient and newer manuscripts on the subjects of Magecrafting, Alchemy and Animation, but the majority are written in the Ancient tongue and require Fluent Nadar-Canouch as well as competent Cryptography to decipher. There are a few books written by Thelma herself on these subjects, usually written in common though she does have a habit of slipping into the ancient tongue as well. These books pertain to her research specifically, and so woudl take some time to break apart and gain true knowledge from them.

Appearance
A small woman by birth, the conditions on Sahova have done little to aid her in her growth. She stands at a mere 5'5 at the grown of her head, and her frame is bony and thin due to a combination of age and starvation on Sahova. Her hair is bright red, bordering on orange, with streaks of white through it which some believe are due to overgiving rather than the natural process of aging. She dresses in fine robes at all times, with colors ranging from formal black to bright red depending on her mood. She can almost always be found with her personal staff, an elaborately carved masterpiece of clear magical origin which she clings to with a passion. She tries to remain as clean as possible, going such lengths as to actually get a bath installed in her own chambers for washing, but at times dirt and grime are unavoidable in this line of work. On her index finger there rests a ring that looks like it was crafted out of ruby and emeralds, her symbol of status in the island which shows her influence and dedication to her work.

Biography
Thelma was born in Ravok to a well off family in good standing in the city. For whatever reason the woman traveled through the region of Sylira, taking in the sights and seeing a world far different than what she was told in her days in Ravok. In her travels Thelma is said to have discovered something, something that changed her and gave her a sudden drive and passion for the study of ancient artifacts. She learned of Sahova's existence in late Spring of 512, and then she at once set out for this island renowned for its vast collection of magical artifacts in order to continue her research. Once there she quickly rose into the ranks, her travels giving her a unique perspective on magic and its uses which the Council and other higher ups found inspiring and useful. In the Summer of 513 she was given her own lab, as well as her ranking above master for her continued work in the betterment of Sahova. In secret Thelma had the 3rd cavern created and magically sealed. None know what was stored inside, nor how she managed to get it into Sahova without notice. Thelma carried with her another secret, one that she has not revealed to any thus far. In her travels she came across an old discipline of magic known as Dominion, and she used it to store the thing she discovered away and to later move it into Sahova itself without the higher ups noticing. Her true intentions are yet unknown, but Thelma is a great interest to many in Sahova.

Amaryllis was one of the first to form connections with Thelma upon her arrival, quickly seeing her potential and aiming to take that for herself. It was to no avail, however, because the Wizard did not care about the politics of the island, so focused was she on her own research. This has earned her the mutual respect by Goron Silverheart, who despite his greater skills in Magecrafting has been known at times to consult with Thelma when he reaches a point in his research he cannot figure out on his own. Thelma is known for having nearly now ambition at all when it comes to Wizard affairs, content at where she is though she has been known to give letters of references to those who she deems worth the time and energy.
