Konti and being reproductively fit?

Postby Airil on September 20th, 2010, 2:33 am

Something has actually been bothering me as I've worked through my character. I have made her 16-17, I forget which, because I wanted her to be young but not an adult but not quite a child. Here's what the lore says...

"The White Isle Women tend not to 'conceal' or 'hide' anything from their children since they age so quickly."

and

"They are reproductively fit after the first twenty and considered adults around age thirty."

Now I assume the first statement refers to the fact that they emotionally mature very quickly. But when I kept thinking about the second and the "reproductively fit" part, I started to wonder if I'd made her old enough. Primarily, I want to verify whether or not reproductively fit equates to puberty.

So, who has some input?

Konti and being reproductively fit?

Postby Gossamer on September 20th, 2010, 3:39 am

I created the Konti. I think I can answer your question.

20-30 they can actually reproduce....
30+ They are generally mature enough to reproduce emotionally.

The 20-30 year old category would be like an occasional 13 year old human that can have a baby but is still a baby herself... aka a body thats ovulating and can get pregnant but a mind that is still a childs mind.

Think teen pregnancies. It's never a good idea. But, physiologically it is possible.

Your 16-17 year old Konti would be roughly around 8-10 mentally in human equivalents. She's a baby even though she might look adult... somewhat. Another Konti would spot the child in a crowd no problem. She might fool humans though. Might. But the first time she opened her mouth or tried to play it might be a bit obvious.

You would have to ask Jen or Alice to be sure on this, but it is my feeling that if Konti can have children at 20, but they aren't considered adults until 30, then your pc at 16-17 would still be very much considered a child... I would put puberty right before the 20s, so you could be on the cusp of it.

My pc Satu is 26, still young, but almost on that edge of adultness.

wow! Jen swooped right by me to answer first!

I thought that was the case when I thought it over, but I wanted to make sure before I fixed her age and possibly her background.

Thanks! To both of you!

Konti and being reproductively fit?

Postby Airil on October 20th, 2010, 7:11 pm

Ok, I'm probably a total dweeb for bringing this up again but I just want to be absolutely certain that I'm getting this right for the benefit of myself and others.

If a Konti is chronologically 25, emotionally they'd be around 15-16, and physically they might appear to others to be like 19-20 thus appearing younger than their actual age, but older than their emotional age, at least to someone who is not familiar with Konti. Or would they actually appear to be closer to their emotional age rather than somewhere between the two?

I'm saying emotional maturity rather than mental cause even a 10 year old can have the mental maturity of a 14 year old while still having the emotional responses of a 10 year old. It's all about life experiences versus cognitive development..

I know I'm probably getting over technical, but I want to make it relatively clear in my CS for other so they don't just look, see that she's 25 years old and assume that 25 means 25.

Konti and being reproductively fit?

Actually, the Konti often appear young their whole lives. So you don't ever get a Konti that say looks 30 even when they are in their 100's. They simply look like late teens most of their lives. So basically, I'd stop thinking 'physical' verses 'emotional' maturity because for the vast majority of a konti's life, she is going to look YOUNG and be a lot older than she appears.
