Ziv walked towards the square, viol in hand. He played here when he really wanted money, which was most of the time. He opened his violin case, and let it stay open, taking out his viol to play. He sighed, feeling nervous as always as people looked at him, and he set into a fast song. The song was old, but it had been one of the favourites when he grew up, and had a sense of adventure with a bit of fantasy, or magic. His fingers moved quickly and with confidence, as he had played this song many times before, and he remembered has parents always asking when he would get sick of it, but he never did. He doubted he ever would, now.
A few people started looking at him, and one threw a coin into the case- copper, but it always was nice to hear the first coin of today. He kept going with the light tune, and he soon finished, taking a quick glance at the case. Few more coppers. He kept going, now going with a slower song, one that he wasn’t as much familiar with.
He kept going, and decided to close when he ran through almost all his songs that he remembered, and he said, “I’m done! Thanks for listening!” A few left already once he made that announcement, though some stayed, particularly a group of boys. One went up to him, the one with coal black hair and green eyes. He smiled, showing his yellow teeth, and said, “Nice music ya have there.” Ziv smiled a bit uneasily at him- for some reason, he felt like he shouldn't trust the boys.
“Yeah.” He said quietly in a somewhat awkward tone. “Here, have this.” The boy said, giving him a copper coin. Coppers were next to nothing, but he smiled gratefully. “Thanks- every miza counts.” He still felt some uneasiness, and they boy continued, “Do you regularly do this?” He nodded, as he put the copper in his pocket. “Yeah, around same time too. I gotta get going.” He swore he caught a shadow across the boys faces, and he turned quickly, seeing a boy run off with his case, still with a few mizas inside.
“Petch!” The voice was loud and sharp, not hesitating to kick one of the boy’s behind him. The people around him looked at him, confused, and he ran off, shouting, “Thief!” The boys behind him ran off, and he chased after the boy who took his case. He kept turning, which annoyed him, and he kept following after him, but soon lost him.
“Petch.” He muttered in a softer, quieter tone, looking at the two passages, catching his breath.
